While Call of Duty 2 is just too old to properly compete with Vanguard on model and animation quality, it serves to prove just how much shoot and handling sounds are muted in Vanguard. (It also demonstrates that Vanguard has or had some rather obvious QA deficiencies.) Vanguard's shoot sounds are washed out so you only hear the bass and low frequencies, there's barely anything more to speak of, and the handling sounds of most weapons are very, very quiet and very metallic. It feels as if the gun is shot from a long way away, and the gun is handled from a few yards/meters away, rather than right in front of you. While Call of Duty 2's sounds are rather crunchy, they at least present a more full sound, and have more obvious echo on most of the shots.

CoD 2 is better than vanguard..
Coming from the one with a roblox pfp and probably never played call of duty 2 😂
You need to replace the M1928 drum magazine but put on the 20 to 30 round magazine
And hold the M1928 by the grip, not on the drum.

it's really ppsh - cod vanguard never have pps43 so this is an equivalent one
I thought CoD2's gunsound is bad enough compared to CoD1....but Vanguard defies 15 years of game evolution....
I think the sounds of all CODs before Advanced Warfare were alright, but after that only Infinity Ward got them right

The Mosin (3 Line Rifle) in Vanguard Makes Me Miss World at War’s Mosin Nagant. It just sound so weak in Vanguard
The TT-33 in COD2 is actually a post-war Polish example. So Vanguard has the more period accurate TT-33.

The COD2 version has a thumb rest on the grip as well as an oval arsenal marking on top of the slide. I’ve owned a Polish Tokarev to know one when I see one.

I find it funny how the older call of duty games get the names of the firearms right but vanguard gets some of the names wrong, like the luger for example. Like they've been doing this for years, did they somehow forget the names of the guns all of a sudden?
Some companies have royalties on their gun names (like heckler & Koch over the Mauser weapons like the luger as the founders of H&K were ex Mauser engineers, this also happens with the Tula weapons factory in Russia and the mosin nagant or the British Webley and it's mk6 revolver)
Activision went the cheaper way by coming up with custom names
Call of duty 2 is better on sounds, vanguard has some good scenes which performs a remake of cod2.
Models: Call of Duty Vanguard
Sounds: Call of Duty 2
Reloads: Tie
what's this all about?

M1928 but it looks like m1a1 with a drum mag
The model is m1a1 but with drum mags. What's funny is that the m1a1 can't use the drum mag

Cod2's sound is better than vanguard
Prove im wrong.
Even Medal of Honor Vanguard sounds are better.
Original (Call of Duty 2) vs Carlota Casagrande is Wanted (Call of Duty: Vanguard)
cod 2 still looks amazing despite it's age
Is it just me? or Gun sounds in modern games feel toned down compared to their previous counterparts?
You're not the only one
I really dislike how some guns in cod2 sound, namely the Thompson. However some sound good, like the ppsh.
Not going to lie here, Vanguard’s sniper rifle sound design is terrible, especially the sound when closing bolt after load a clipper in. On top of that, all snipers have the same bolt sound and it’s so bad. Cod 2 definitely did a better job on that. Sledgehammer need to improve their sound design, a lot.
Funny how Cod2 had better sound quality, game design, and graphics compared to vanguard, almost forgot to mention a development team that cared for their game

Comparing a game from 2006 to a game from 2021 is unfair.
How does one tactically reload Thompson a 50 round drum mag full of .45 acp
Not like that, I'm pretty sure.
grease gun missing
Why is the M1928 even in Vanguard? Back then, it was heavy and unreliable to use a drum magazine. They instead used a 30 round box mags for the Thompson without the fuss and raddle that could catch the attention of the enemy. If they were trying to be historically accurate, this is a dumb decision.
Reload in vanguard sounds more louder than the shoots....
CoD2 MG-42 sounds very realistic

Back in the days, I used to absolutely despise the 20 round mag Thompson.
It felt and sounded amazing, but 20 rounds is just lame as hell. I'm very well aware of its historical implementation, but c'mon 20 rounds??
