Dear James, I just discovered your videos on RUclips. They are of great value and quality. Thanks for sharing them! I do have a couple of questions. I will be in Singapore during the first week of Dec this year. We will have a morning and an afternoon at our disposal to do some birding. What are your recommended places? We will be relying on public transportation/ taxis. We have not any birding in Singapore before. Or if you know of a local guide that can take us around. Thanks!

Thank you for watching my video. Since you have only a day in December, which is good as it's in the midst of migratory season here, I would suggest you visit the Singapore Botanical Garden. It's easy to get to as it's along the Downtown rail line and the Botanical Garden Station is just at the entrance of the gardens. You can spend an entire day there productively. Good luck with your birding.

Dear James, thank you so much for this very enjoyable and informative video. Would like to ask how long the Wallace trail is. Thanks again for making & sharing this beautiful video.

If you keep strictly to the trail, it's only about 600m through the forest and as it's so short, do take your time and really look at the flora and fauna, just like Wallace did.

Thanks James for your vids! Just started birding and found your videos very helpful. May I ask if there is a best time in the day to go birding?

Thanks for viewing my video Peter,. Best time of the day to bird? Not an easy question to answer. Most birders tend to go early as the we want to get the early birds getting the worm. Seriously, they need to feed early so may be your best shot. Around noon when its hot not, likely to have many 'cos they are all roosting in the shade somewhere. But then, who knows. The best is to observe their behaviour and soon you'll get to know where to go and at which time to get the best shot. Every species has a different rhythm. Good luck.

It's a square-tailed drongo cuckoo that can be found around the Fielding House in the video.

@@JamesTann Cheers, I would have bet on the Plaintive Cuckoo. I have been whistling like this many times trying to attract the bird. People look at me like I am crazy. One time 2 guys came back and they told me that they could hear the bird over there, pointing. I was happy, first the look at me like I am crazy and 30 minutes later they came to tell me about the bird. They were no birders but they recognized the song from my whistling
