I tried the Insta360 Go 3 on a trip to Hawaii and I am returning it due to several issues. Lets dicuss and look at some footage.

Lag is mostly due to stabilization, because it's processing in real-time and delaying the image you see. If you turn down the stabilization then it does get quite a bit faster.
For me insta360 go 3 is the best action cam releases in years, for all that came with it and for it size and usability. I also got Dji Pocket 3 that it has a superb imagine quality, but the go 3 is my most used camera because I have more fun using it. Every equipment has your limits and you have to know these limits and never use it and these conditions that the equipment you not give you the full potential.
As a former action 2 user that camera was never given a chance. Better IQ and you could change all setting on the small camera.
You are the only reviewer who actually told the truth about this camera. Unfortunately, I didn't find your review until AFTER I bought it. I always do my research, but EVERYONE was raiving about the Insta360 GO3 so I took a chance. I am sending mine back, too! The image quality is not good enough for today's standards. I cannot integrated it within my projects because of the poor image quality. My iPhone is even better... way better!
I did another review of this camera after buying it again used but feeling better about the price I paid however, it has its use for running or capturing interesting shots. But pure image quality wise it’s blah blah
I am on the same boat, I really wanted to love it and have it in my tool box but given the video quality unfortunately it's not fit for purpose for me
The form factor outweighs all the cons of this camera and I like it.
I totally get it. But in the end it’s the IQ that matters. I am really liking the Action 4 since It’s still very small and can use it as a pov. But I get it the Go3 is fun to use.

It's really good as a body camera. Though I'd like better battery life. (Without making the camera larger)
Thanks for the honest review! I also wanted to like it so much, but the video quality is so bad, I don’t understand how people do not see it, it is painful to my eye. I repurchased the DJI Action 2 and you can mount it anywhere and have a crisp image 4k at 120fps. Ah, maybe the Go4..
I really like the form factor, works great for me but I agree about the price. It is too high for what it offers.
Gosh you complain a lot. All wireless devices have a lag. You just buy to review then return which is bad and Amazon will cancel your account after a certain number of returns.
Do they cancel your account?
I buy way to much stuff on Amazon, plus I did not buy this camera from them. I complain when there are issues. You can watch 100's of positive reviews on this camera from folks that got sent the camera. If you prefer that go for it.

For me it's too late to return, but I do not recommend this camera ...

A lot of content creators want to bash GoPro - I've been enjoying their cameras since the Hero 7 - they've always been reliable for me. I also have the Go2 and love its versatility but the image quality is a sacrifice. If I had to pick the best small form factor camera would have to be the Osmo Action 2. That thing is a beast!

Regarding 'lag', what you mentioned reminds me of the exact same problem I had with my old Sony FDRX3000 and the wristband tiny screen monitor it had. They had a lot of trouble communicating, and sometimes the wristband would show nothing.
Oh boy, now I am really confused. I am a long time Go Pro user. I thought this little cam would be a great companion. BUT, given the negatives you’ve listed I was wondering if there is another much cheaper thumb camera you could recommend ? The key word is cheap … cause that’s what I am … lol. I be seen a few like the SJCAM but given the video quality you’ve mentioned I was thinking something less costly could be a go. Any thoughts …

I don't have the camera, but I know that you can say Take a photo and it will take a photo, same. For the video. Also the video lag on Bluetooth is a technical limitation, to make it less laggy they need to reduce the quality of the video and then a lot of people will complain about that.
What you would do on a camera created by you? I am really curious.
For a camera like this (POV small light) DJI sort of already made one, the Action 2. However that camera is very fragile. So if you can make an Action 2 capability and IQ in a Go form factor, that would be a winner.
Thanks. Now I know not to get this. Which action-camera would you use for a three camera shoot of an interview? I've been using three Galaxy S21 Ultras on monopods with double blue-tooth clip-on mics in the phones' c-ports, and then editing in Davinci, TimeBolt, and then Camtasia. Guests scoff at the camera phones. But I like the lightness of this 3-camera kit I've put together. Action cameras would keep it light. Which action camera would you use for a set-up like this?

I have seen a lot of reviews for the Go 3 and almost bought it but in the end, I got the dji action 2, which is much cheaper now and should have better image quality. It was also partially your review and comparison of 5 months ago that made me decide this. And now I see you got the Go 3 anyhow and send it back AND you got rid of the action 2, what you seem to regret...
Exactly. I was just searching on eBay for a used action 2. But I told myself I do not need it. I have other cameras to use. However, I never listen to that person I should, but I don’t.
Hmmm I get what you are getting at. But I just feel you are expecting something that at the moment is still a few years away. Back in the day cameras where hi8 then mini dv then Gopro came along. Then the size shrank even more. At the moment the size etc is amazing And you are wanting it to be just like a Gopro or DJI etc. you don’t buy a pickup truck and expect it to perform like a sports car.
I totally agree with price etc. but I think you are paying for size. Ultimately I don’t think this camera suits your needs and you seem more grumpy about that.

insta360 is like many android phone companies. they try to do as much fancy stuff to get attention, yet they miss doing the core stuff well. insta360 would sponsor every reviewer to overhype their fancy products. they need to get serious and put replaceable lens on their 360 cameras. and the ace pro is a dissapointment without replaceable lens cover.
I agree about the replaceable lenses. I did a whole video on trying to fix my X3
It's all about form factor.. small .. no other camera that small records this good..

It's unfortunate that the video quality is so remedial on the 3 i do like the size of it. Also I'm wondering if the reason it is not casting through your head is because of the cosmetic titanium cranial implants you had installed in the frontal and occipital many years back to give your head a more rounded shape while modeling for Disney's apparel department is the cause. I'm no doctor but this could be the reason!

Seems like insta360 stuff is overhyped. At least it was when I had an X3. Seems like the go 3 followed suit as well.
