You obviously point out the sagas are hard to believe, but one of my favorite translations states that when he fought with Lagertha he "thought she was pretty and wished he could marry her" but never talked to her. He later married Aslaug who gave him his sons. This is different from translation to translation but I love the idea that this famous warlord had a crush he was to nervous to talk to 😂

Just a few corrections. "Ayla" or Ælla was king of Northumberland, not England, a small kingdom in the north of the modern kingdom. He was also most likely NOT executed via blood eagle, but killed in the Battle of York in 867, at the hands of Ragnar's son's army. This is stated in the Anglo-Saxon accounts of the war, and modern historians no longer believe the blood eagle was even a real execution method, rather being the result of Scandinavian poets misunderstanding historical depictions of men lying dead on the battlefield (with their backs torn open by carrion birds) as the aforementioned mythical execution method.

@@Starr_Apathy Except for the fact that I never claimed he didn't point out the fact that this is sourced from sagas. Instead, I pointed out that despite acknowledging this, he both directly got the kingdom ruled by Ælla wrong, and stated his fate by blood eagle without mentioning either specific context, or the fact that even within the context of using sagas as sources, the blood eagle is most likely not true.
Acknowledging the sagas' possible unreliability doesn't garner much when he literally cites the most sensationalist, and incorrect, interpretations of those sagas to present in his video, effectively as fact until the very last few minutes of the video.
Both decisions being clearly intentional efforts to further the clickability of the video (including using the false claim of Ælla being the king of England in the title).

When you have art that looks good. Proliferated in quantities that would taken individual quite a while to produce, AI.
Seems like it's everywhere in the content world at this point. What irks me is videos like this who's entire visual style is built on AI art. The only thing here with any character or skill is the narration. Even the scripting could have been aided by AI. At least once were a couple of iterations down the road with chat. GPT it certainly can be I'm sure.
Personally, this trend makes me want to be on RUclips less, consume less online content, and read more books. A market that hasn't been saturated by AI. Yet.

In a few years, AI channels will be pumping out this kind of content. Not just script, voice over, music, and images all created by AI, but the entire channel and even video IDEAS.
Where it took this guy a few weeks to put this together, these ai channels will pump out as many 20 minute long videos as they want in a single day. Will they be quality? Maybe, who knows. There's a clear formula to this type of content.

Great video - well written and paced
I very much liked the ending; I would argue it was exactly when the producers of Vikings leaned into the saga like nature of the stories that they reached their peak - for example, at the endings of Ragner himself, Björn and Lagertha (the latter a masterclass in a story arc), as well as the fever dream of Floki in Iceland. But in the final moments, the series strips it all back to the simple basis for all myths - humans living a life, and having a the rare luxury to reflect upon it outside mead hall or battle...
Incidentally, in the blood eagle, the ribs were not so much ripped out, as cut from the spine - causing the 'wings' of the eagle as they were pulled outwards. Vile, and possibly apocryphal only, torturous death.

Seeing this video then seeing the view count actually hurts. RUclips is supposed to be a place where the good stuff rises to the top but this video is proof it’s not a flawless process & the algorithm can get it wrong sometimes!
I do feel like eventually this will blow up tho! Sometimes you just wake up one day and see you have been blessed by the YT gods and have tonnes of views lol. Fingers crossed for you. So beautifully made!

"Pants with magic fabric that makes me unkillable in battle" is a very fancy, too wordy way to say "lucky pants".
The dude had a pair of "lucky pants". Or, he was justifying why he had a pair of comfy pants he liked at all times. Perhaps he was the greatest [known] autistic warrior of all time, who didn't like the sensation of other fabrics?

@@CryptoTonight9393 dont be a smart ass i hate fucking Ai and complimented him anyway and its not the same humans and a bit of chemistry make photos
AI is not art because it steals its line work from other artists it has no ideas of its own at all some may say well its just a tool.. but no its poison it should be recognized as such if you have a desire to make art you should learn to paint, draw, film or whatever else you want dont let AI just do it for you !
the discipline that it takes you to master your craft is good for the soul of the artiest and allows them to learn much of the HUMAN experience there is a reason the best scientists in history were all artists of one kind or another its good for the mind to draw to really draw something you have to know how it works how it moves how light falls upon how you see it and most importantly what you feel and think about it !
What do you have to KNOW about life to write a text prompt ? we are becoming to lazy to be human its one thing to take us out of the field or the factory but taking us out of the studio will be the death of man ! man kinds purpose we are built to make things its how we grow and understand and survive its ARE magic and ARE birth rite birds fly fish swim humans craft when that goes we go !
