If you have “Recipes for Disaster”, you don’t have to buy this expansion.
HOWEVER, if you only have the base game (original, 2 player, party, nsfw or cat burglar), then this is probably the BEST individual expansion to get.
It adds variety to the game without adding too many mechanics (zombie kittens), or making things too complicated (barking/streaking kittens).
The new cards are easy to understand or are variants of existing cards (“alter the future” and “targeted attack” are just better versions of “see the future” and “attack”, respectively).
And the titular “Imploding kitten” itself is definitely one of the best cards they’ve added to the series.

I found it easy to pick up if you've played the base game, but for new players it can be a lot to take in (base+expansion). I notice the cards are too focused on image and comedy and don't have good iconography. Many beginning players are confused on how and when to play cards.
Other problem is the most of the cards bring identical powers from previous ones, being more powerful versions of them that don't require any compensation.
I have to admit that the game is improved by its addition. However, it is only improving the consistency with which the game feels at its best rather than really changing the game. If you've played a couple games of Exploding Kittens and enjoyed it, okay. If you don't like Exploding Kittens or feel like Exploding Kittens is getting stale, Imploding Kittens won't save it.
I would rather have just spent my money on the base game and invested the rest in other types of games
Thanks for commenting! While I’m a huge fan of the series (Imploding Kittens included), I can definitely see where you’re coming from. It’s a game with a lot going on and some (occasionally) overly ambitious ideas (take the Curse of the Cat Butt card, for example). Still, I’m a diehard fan. You could buy this expansion if you have Recipes For Disaster but some of your cards have been ruined! (For example: one of your opponents may have spilled a drink mid-game the last time you played!)
I mean, buying an expansion pack to replace damaged cards is a bit different from buying it to collect every card, but you’re not wrong.

Question, if the top card is a face up imploding kitten card and its my turn, Am I automatically out or can I play a skip, shuffle, etc so as to not draw the card

I know its been a while but i was wondering where i could find the recipies from recipies for disaster. Ive had the first three expansions for a long time but have only ended up using the first one for simplicity's sake
Thanks for reaching out! The recipe cards are original to the Recipes For Disaster collection and cannot be found anywhere else. I definitely relate to that struggle! Hey there! Thanks for the video, it's really interesting! I just have one question: it says on the package that there is a card inside to expand the base deck from 5 to 6 players. Where's that card? I cannot understand.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! That’s a great question. Since the Imploding Kitten card destroys a player the same way that an Exploding Kitten card does, it allows for one extra player to play. Take care and hopefully this helps!

Can this expansion be played without the cone of shame?
Yes it can! I do the same thing whenever I’m playing with this expansion, mainly because my group of friends don’t feel like wearing it throughout the night. Lol
The Imploding Kitten card just creates absolute chaos.

Haha right?! It really brings out the dark side of humanity-everyone scrambling to pass off this Grim Reaper to anyone other than themselves. That said, definitely one of my favorite non-playable cards!

can you play all the expansion packs all together with the main game?
Yes you can! And it would make for one loaded, awesome game.
Can the GodCat card pick the imploding Kitten?

Would you be able to add this to the party box and play with 11 people?
Great question! The Imploding Kitten card allows for one more player to be eliminated, but the expansion does not come with an additional Diffuse card. When my friends and I would run out of Diffuses, we would honor one Nope card as a Diffuse. That said, Imploding Kittens would be a lot of fun with the Party Pack. Take care and hopefully this helps!

What's great about it (anyone can understand).
What's not great about it? 99% luck 1% tactic 0% strategy (like most games from exploding kittens or unstable games).
If you want simple but better party games, Codenames, Club detective, Decrypto, Dixit, Stella, Just One are all better choices.
I sold my Recipes for disaster after 1 play because it only takes one play to see everything there is to see.
Thanks for reaching out! Haha, yes! There’s definitely a lot of luck involved, right in line with the concept of “Russian roulette”.
That said, that element makes it a great game for players of multiple ages/skill levels. As a youth pastor, I’ve lost as much as I’ve won with the students that I’ve played with, which keeps me humble. Lol I’ve lost count of how many rounds of this game I’ve played.
As you said, definitely not the right game for strategy enthusiasts! But for those that like a lot of risk involved, it’s a perfect fit. Take care and thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Can you play with more than 5 players with the expansion pack?

Guys I don’t really understand how imploding kitten card works cuz I’m not really good at English please explain how the card works to me clearly❤
After a while I think the first person draws imploding kitten won’t explode and they will put this card face up in the draw pile and the second person draws the face up card will explode and can’t use defuse nor nope is that right and i wanna ask can the first person put the card face down in the draw pile to make it more fun
Hello! You’re right! The first person to draw the Imploding Kitten places it face up anywhere in the deck that they want. The next person to draw it implodes and is eliminated from the game. The idea of placing it facedown the second time is a fun twist!

Good review but the box is RIDICULOUS! This box holds 20 cards and it is like 4-5x size the original that holds 56 cards. Why? Im sure they could have made the collar thing smaller. OR it could have had card slots to hold a bunch of expansion packs and the original.
Bahahaha you’re right! I always have the hardest time making that box play nice with the other games on my shelf. There’s no right way to store it. No doubt the most obnoxious box of the bunch. Take care and thanks for watching and commenting!

That's just the party pack exploding kittens
Only thing is that the Party Pack doesn’t include the Imploding Kitten card or the Cone of Shame! Otherwise, the Party Pack is a great way to go.
