I think that the VA gets a lot better near the last third of the game. He sounds less robotic and more comfortable in his role. Also the random dialogue you get from looking at/smelling/tasting random things gets progressively more hilarious.
In a series with no death, the delay only exists to hide the easter egg; not related to any actual character abilities. Even when you "lose" in the MI series, it's still pretty lame.
Joey2Go I think it's principally a running gag. In Return to Zork there's a skeleton underwater wearing a pirate costume and the description reads 'I guess his ten minutes are up'
Heh, I just finished the game and I was sure that I had deliberately triggered all the available death sequences... apparently I was still missing dozens of them. I love how much sadistic creativity went into finding ways to torture the player. Thanks for the video. It must have taken quite a thorough amount of exploration to find all these sequences ;-).
The new system doesn't let us reply to old comments but just to say that Gary Owens is still alive. 77 years old perhaps, but still alive. He's narrating the upcoming Space Quest spinoff game "SpaceVenture", so his talents are still being put to use.
I had a problem with this on my Dell Dimension. (R.I.P). I just barely had the specs for this game and got up to the giant plant near the berries. I died so frequently that I gave up.
This is great, I love the whole SQ series. I only have one issue involving Death #18: Death by Monkey. Why are the speech bubbles presented for such a short time? It seemed like some good writing.
If only the chestbutster death includes the narrator saying "What excruciating, yet unique way to go! Next time, try not to go sucking face with alien beings!"
No offense but that narrator needs voice acting lessons. It's like he couldn't decide which words need to be emphasized so he started speaking in random tones.

Everyone beith a critic.
'I know a guy who can hold his breath for ten minutes'
That man is Guybrush Threepwood :)

Thanks for posting this, part of the fun of the old Serria games was the deaths!

I love these 'point n click and hope like nothing bad happens' games.
Why does gameplay got so much blood & gore in it?! 😨 28:00
Seriously, the boss at 0:50 or so is supposed to be yellin... he sounds more like he's BORED...!
Im about to start playing these games soon but seeing all of these deaths is hilarious to see.
I muted the video and pictured Gary Owens narrating all the messages.
40:40 Death number 60 isn't that bad. Roger's alive, Vohaul's dead, and you don't have to worry about the planet of douchebags called Xenon anymore.
In Soviet Russia, mushrooms eat YOU!
I don't think the cave squid death is possible because they may have forgotten to implement it into the remake.
Death #41 and 42: "That looks like a weapon" *proceeds to fucking brutally assassinate roger*
i need more senseless tragedy in my modern games

I know this is two years late to your comment, but Gary passed away last year due to complications with his life long diabetes
8:27 I just noticed tentacles is misspelled.
2:52
So THAT'S what digestion in vore looks a bit like.
Nice touch at the very end to the next game!
Thanks for watching!
Can someone tell me how to make death messages like those in Adventure Game Studio complete with a picture? A video tutorial would be nice.
39:44
Ha! Nice Spaceballs reference.
Cool, you got the digital sound effect of Roger speaking to work!
What, that's not working for you?
@@biglos9d 43:17 That was hard to get to work an anything other than a 286 and a Soundblaster 1.0 or a Tandy 1000.
11:25 8s the hunter the Predator?
33:35 - Aw, why remove the "this is the pain that lingers" line? That's one of my favorite death messages!
Holy sh** these deaths pretty f**king brutal!
Brutal, and yet, really funny
@@Shuyin781 Nasty
Blood & gore like Mortal Kombat but so much worse
_"Hell, I know a guy who can hold his breath for 10 minutes."_
That must be Guybrush Threepwood, right?
I had a problem with this on my Dell Dimension. (R.I.P). I just barely had the specs for this game and got up to the giant plant near the berries. I died so frequently that I gave up.
Finally I found a VGA Video Of Space Quest 2 😀
I'm pretty sure "that guy" is actually voice-to-text software of some kind. And not *too* bad for that.
Actually, it's one of the composers of the game's soundtrack, Isaac Lundgren.
Maybe someone could datamine the game to find the message(s) that play(s) when the Cave Squid kills you?
COuld you maybe do a text dump of the game and find out what it says when the cave squid attacks you, if it exists at all?
Nice ending 😆
Thanks for watching!
20:00 I think that death replaces the Cave Squid death.
No I don't think so because that death is in the AGI version too
1:02 I don't know, now a days it sounds like roger had a point.
there are some wrong spellings in this game

Aww, no mention of the name of the Vohaul Marrowmatic...
O.O sh#t 5:13
I agree OMG
Nastiest deaths ever
24:54 BANG! XD
If only the chestbutster death includes the narrator saying "What excruciating, yet unique way to go! Next time, try not to go sucking face with alien beings!"
@@KiethSomataw99 was that in the original?
@biglos9d parts of it were. At least the "unique way to go" and "sucking face with alien beings".
Swallowed by a mushroom??? 😆😆😆😆
Mushrooms are tasty! They find you tasty as well.
16:11
I want to play this!!😀👍
Yeah, no you really don't. It's really not a good remake, if you play it, turn off the voices.
33:35
Oh, my bad. It's the robot at 38:08.
... and the line is still removed. Come on... :(
17:03
27:31
17:47 Automatic Captions: Kane fever
...or dump the audio, either way.
Good point...
I dunno. Ask someone who's good at hacking, I guess.
I could do better narration than that! The guy sounds like a robot.

Agree… that gotta be the worst voice acting I’ve ever heard
I could do better voice over work. Seriously, hire me. Please.
