Your hair type is quite similar to mine, you've got yourself a new sub...finding other youtube with the same texture and length is hard plus it becomes hard to relative when the hair type is too different .
I know I’m late, but I think I can answer. I’ve watched a lot of 4c hair videos and they say the oil works more as a sealant for moisture. The water you apply to your hair is the moisturizer, but the oil helps to regain the moisture of the water. I’m not sure if I explained that right but hope it helps.
I tried both ways and found that it was most effective when I had already washed my hair. This allowed the oils to really penetrate into the hair shaft. I rinsed it out using warm water. My hair has was for once, manageable when I tried this method! I have also seen other naturals mix the hot oil with their deep conditioner and do a 2-in-1 method.
After. Water and oil don't mix so shampoo and conditioner would be great for after doing the hot oil treatment. Doing a hot oil treatment is to help increase hair strength and helps prevent frizziness and dandruff. A hot oil treatment is great as pre-poo. I hope this helps.
Honestly I didn't measure anything I always just wing it lol. I normally add more of my favorite oils in the mixture than the other oils. So whatever oils your hair loves add more of it than the other oils you decide to use.

No your hair doesn't have to be dirty. You can substitute whatever you use as a deep conditioner with the hot oil treatment! I hope that helped!

I personally wouldn't do it every weekend. It honestly depends on how dry and damaged your hair is.

Does hair need to be wet or dry?
You can spray your hair with water just to add some moisture but your hair doesn't need to be completely damp.

Of course you can. Your hair under a regular cap will still get hot because of your natural body temperature.
