This real world research is wholeheartedly needed and welcomed by the community. Jose should be strongly commended for this effort to expose nothing less than Epson's "corporate greed" by their inflation of their numbers. We benefit by your inky fingers !

Hi Jose, silly question.... What happens if you remove the foam pads? Will the tank hold more ink and be easier to clean.

I supposed but the ink is literally sprayed into the tank. A recipe for a mess. Besides its the chip that controls when it is "FULL"

Hello Jose and thank you for doing the research and investigations so well. I love your channel and follow it with interest.
I am 75 and from UK, and recently bought an Epson XP15000 to go with my other Epson A4 printers.
I have used CISS for ink delivery on all my previous Epson printers, but with the inclusion of plumbing in a waste ink external tank "Printer Potty" from Octoinkjet here in the UK. This has been very successful when used in conjunction with a software reset key (also from them) to reset the waste ink counter.
I have bought a CISS (from City Ink Express, here in UK) for the XP1500 too and this is my first printer with a replaceable Maintenance Box, which I thought must be a step up from the old system of waste ink pads.
However, I have just had to replace the Maintenance Box after what seems to be a very short period of use! It cost me £13 and if I can keep this cost down I'd be very grateful. So your research has come at the perfect time for me. The idea that the box can be reset and reused up to (say) 4 times is a great revelation Thanks again.
Could you please tell me about where the chip resetter can be bought in order to reset the Maintenance Box back to zero and continue using it for a while longer? I have looked all through your notes but cannot find any reference to it.
Thanks again for all your efforts. Keep up the great work!
    With kind regards
    Roy

You are in the UK so my friend Rick Johnson very likely can not ship overseas.
You will have to order from China through either EBAY or AliExpress or Alibaba.

Thanks for your experiment video! I'm planning to buy the XP-6001 and it's maintenance box is the same model as XP-15000. I'm curious how many times can be reused of a maintenance box. I have done a whole lot research before buying the printer and I found this video is useful information to me. Thank you again!

Hi Jose, today i did reset my XP 15000 maintenance tank, i bought it used and it is with me from 2022, i refill with oem ink (i'm in Europe) and reset the carts. Anyway when i weighted the maintenance tank it said 95gr (i refilled 3 times from when i have it), and the maintenance tank had still a 10-15% for the epson software. So my question now is, do i have to wash the pads or replace them to be safe i don't have ink going out of the maintenance tank ? Can i remove some liquids with warm air from a hairdryer ? I will order a new maintenace tank but it will require time before i get it here

Ok i try to explain it better, the XP 15000 is with me from 2022, i bought the printer used and the maintenance box was at 50% empty. Then i refilled 3 times (3 yellow carts, 3 magenta carts, 3 cyan carts, 3 black carts. then 2 greys with original and 1 red with original), never did reset the maintenance tank, it was at 10-15% empty, so i did reset the maintenance tank, then weighted it and it said 95gr, so now the question is, is possible that when the epson software says it is full, it is really full ? or in Europe we have a different maintenance tank ?

Thank you so much for your outstanding videos. With that I'm trying to select a art photo printer for my studio. I'm stuck between the Epson xp1500 and sc 700 and the canon p 200 or p 300. This would be for mostly black and white. Any suggestions I'd be greatful to hear. Thank you so much Charlie

Thanks for the great videos. Have you had any experience with the XP 15000 going completely dead? Mine went from working one day to not even able to turn it on the next day. I checked all the obvious outlets, connection, etc. It just won't power on at all. Maybe a blown fuse? Is there a reset somewhere?
    Thanks.

Awesome! I purchased the resetter from Rick Johnson, worked perfectly, and was wondering what to repack the used Maintenance Tanks with? If I can get 5 runs without repacking I'd be delighted.

As I and you witnessed, I added 60ml of water directly into the port and that's when it finally saturated the pads. That depends on you resetting at 85% or 15% from empty. In other words, remove and reset the cart when it weighs 51 or so grams. That means 10ml or grams of waste ink are in the pads. Run it again until it is 61grams. Continue these resets at 10gram increase intervals. Replace the cart or the pads after 4 resets to be safe or 5 if you keep a close watch. 91grams means a total of 5 reuses counting the first VIRGIN use.

Stuff from China takes 2 months to get here. Meanwhile I will be hitting the hobby stores and the dollar stores looking for something comparable. But with 5 fills on your maintenance cart and only 9.99 for a new one - how can we go wrong ?

@@michaelsellas3071 No, but you can easily refill the ink carts. However you will need to disable ink monitoring, via 3rd party software, for this to work.

I have found that some chip-resetters are limited to 120 resets. What's up with that?!

Really?! Even if you where doing 4 resets a year which is unlikely, that's 30 years of use for $55. Less than $2 a year seems pretty good value to me.
