It is so easy and simple to grow your own cucumbers from seed. My method takes the pack as many cucumber plants in a small trellis as you can because I like to increase my yields before the plant sort of dies down from the hot humid weather we tend to get once these explode.
My approach has much bigger yields but may not last as long as it succumbs to the typical mosaic virus. I plan to pickle as many cucumbers as possible in a short amount of time. I have tried both ways and this way always produces the results that I looking for.
You can avoid this if you want by only planting a few plants, maybe 4 in the same area as the trellis (approx 4 sq ft long). It really depends on what you want to do.
Another option is to start cucumber plants 2 weeks apart to help with spacing out the harvest.
You want to make sure that you add lots of compost and a balanced non-soluble fertilizer to the planting hole. Mulch around the plants if you are starting with seedlings and ensure that your water evenly especially the first few days after transplanting.
Give them a good soluble fertilizer such as Mor Bloom fish fertilizer as it is higher in PK. I forgot to mention to also sprinkle in some garden lime bin your planting hole to give the cucumbers some calcium
