My Whirlpool Microwave (model num. WMH32519FS0) has a control board that *will only survive* with an incandescent 40W bulb. When the original bulb blew out with a loud "pop", I replaced it with another 40W incandescent. But, something was amiss: no control over the replacement bulb; it stayed on always! Apparently, the board was exclusively designed around the 40W incandescent bulb. Seems like "the tail wags the dog." When the repairman came to replace the blown out control board, he said never to use 25W or 15W or LED bulbs. They also cause the board to "blow out." He had replaced several boards due to non-40W bulbs or LED bulbs.

I have a Whirlpool over the range microwave 2020 model. The light bulb under the microwave that illuminates the oven top burned out. It was an incandescent bulb. I replaced the bulb with a Neanete LED. The bulb will not shut off. I then saw a decal on the microwave that stated "ONLY USE INCANDESCENT LIGHTBULBS. DO NOT USE LED STYLE LIGHTBULBS. " There was no explanation why. I replaced the LED with an incandescent bulb. It will not shut off. I did some research and I think the LED ruined the circuit board. I ordered a board and the supplier showed I should get it in 3-7 days. After 10 days it did now show up so I called them. I was told it would be another 30 days. I called after 31 days. I was told another 30 days. I cancelled the order. It has been a week and still waiting for a credit on my card. I should have replace the bulb with the same type. This video should be removed.

Once the LEDs are installed under the microwave, do they have the ability to go from full, to half, and off like the original bulb?

As soon as I put the LED version in, the bulb blew up and fried my control board on the microwave. Upon inspection of the bulb there was a blackened pin hole size hole that had blown through the metal thread of the LED bulb. Going back the factory bulb after I replace the control board

I came here hoping to find a solution for my LED replacements flickering when the low-light setting is on. This is common when replacing 40w incandescent's or halogens with an LED dimmable bulb. GE's dimmer is not LED compatible and they offer no upgrade replacement. I'm thinking that the stock dimmer lowers the voltage too low for the LED's driver so my thinking is to add a small inline capacitor before the light socket in the hopes that the improved power factor will give the LED driver enough of a boost to stop the flickering. I don't know if it will work but it's worth a try & small capacitors are cheap. Diginet in Australia has a "Load Bypass Device" that solves this problem but AU uses a 220v electrical system & they don't make a USA compatible 110v unit. If anyone knows of someone who sells a LED compatible dimmer for GE microwaves or where I can get a 110v unit like the Diginet Load Bypass device, please reply to this. If I ever find a solution that works I'll throw up a video with the info.

Hey, just wondering if you ever found a good LED replacement? I am running into the same issue you described here.

1, Don't buy LEDs from China. the problem is with the LED not your unit. LEDs pick up capacitance energy off the positive line and that like those touch lamps is the reason they don't turn off and yes you pay for that electricity. There are LEDs that work properly but I haven't found the company as of yet. I went with a magnetic led under counter light that is much brighter and I love it but I wish there were brighter lights for inside the mic. I'm going inside the unit and re-run a new line with a new light bulb to a disconnected from the control board switch but you need to know something about Elecrtcity first.

Is this the one inside the microwave that turns on when door opens?

Unfortunately, my Whirlpool microwave doen't completely shut off power to the range light when off, so LED bulbs stay on 24/7 causing them to burn out in only 6 weeks. So much for lasting 25x longer. Have gone back to a halogen bulb. Too bad to, because I preferred the "whiter" light from the LED.

I put this bulb in my whirpool microwave and it gets dim but won't turn completely off. Why?

I put an LED in mine and it flickers on low, but more importantly it is illuminated when the setting is off. Kind of a deal breaker

This is terrible advice. Halogen and LED are not the same when it comes to microwaves. Mine literally says do not use LED and to only use incandescent bulbs.
