Hey Corey-the salmon turned our really well and I have used the same recipe again (recipe attached above). It is very efficient and the two drawbacks I see are limited capacity-so think Japanese when using and consider the smoked items appetizers or components in a larger dish and when I did chicken legs/thighs I used tin foil but still had grease in the bottom to clean out.
A buddy of mine has the Pit Barrel and loves it. I think these two are designed for different uses though, the Snow Peak is small and portable to be easily taken along to a camp site. I agree with you 100% that if I was looking for a home smoker this would not be it.

Wow, snow peak is coming out with some interesting gear.
For sure they are and all of it is so well designed. This is a fun little tube if you want to really shake up the camp cooking!

Useless. Get a Pit Barrel Cooker
