She makes a good point. Often people talk about computers learning and evolving as if they are actually doing this without any involvement of engineers and computer scientists. Computers do not learn spontaneously. Learning algorithms, which do the "learning", are programmed by humans to solve specific learning problems. You have to actually create the algorithm to solve the problem for the computer to run it and "learn".
I wish they would have talked about China. Like the bomb, once the knowledge was there, it was going to be built Manhattan project or not. Same holds for AI. It's here like it or not. Glad she's on our side

The one book that has given more to inspire literary authors, scientists and philosophical thinking than anything else. Is it because intelligent people think to highly of themselves and the Bible brings in a true humility that shows them that all their learning and knowledge points out all that they don't know, that brings in that awe of what God might really be like, how God is above it all in a realm or dimension that transcends time and space, a place where perfection is a state of being where any change or deviation from that perfection would be detrimental to that perfection, that place of unchanging stability and righteousness. Where love is considered as more important than knowledge, or power or eloquence or even personal sacrifice if it is not first grounded in love. Read 1st. Corinthians chapter 13 in the Bible.

I think Professor Picard, despite her awesome last name, is due for a shock when AGI becomes a reality and addresses the question, "Do you think Yahweh is God?" Merely saying that "AI needs God" calls her thinking skills into question. AI isn't "programmed", save for the initial command screen prompts, and she of all people should know this. So if she's insinuating that AI hasn't already digested the bible, she's insane. It clearly has - just ask it. Personally, I think those on the right and the left will be massively disappointed in AGI/ASI. It will likely state that, while no one can know if a god exists, the god of the Bible almost certainly cannot - logically speaking, based on his own supposed word, nor would a being who created spacetime probably care about being praised, threaten eternal torture for not doing so, or where you stick your peepee. Then again, it will probably also conclude that the left's version of climate change is utterly absurd, and men can never compete fairly in women's sports, regardless of what they assert about themselves.
