am i the only one that finds this game difficult because of the controls and camera? it seems like i am at least. i can't tell you how many times i've tried to do a _walking_ 180 just to fall off a ledge. apparently you need to be at a _complete_ stop to turn on a dime, otherwise you make a biiiiig ass circle motion trying to orient yourself. i wish i had realized that when i was a kid.
I’m playing on the wii virtual console and I agree 100%, why does Mario feel the need to circle around to reverse direction? He doesn’t do that in any other Mario game I can think of, so why here did the devs say ok to it? So many times I’ve walked off the edge and died because of this when all I wanted to do was simply reverse direction. I mean at least we can say they learned from their mistakes but it certainly doesn’t make playing this game any less painful. And the camera, oh god, it can go die in a fire. Literally all it ever does is fight you tooth and nail for the perspective it thinks is the best, which 99% of the time it is incorrect on, and no matter how many times you try and adjust it it just keeps on returning to where you tried to move it from. Thankfully I believe this was fixed in the dams version but again, it makes this game painful to play at times, ESPECIALLY in that hellhole known as tick tock clock since the walls prevent you from ever getting the view you want. Ok, that’s my rant, think I’m done for now

You commentary is spot on. I thought I was the only one as a kid searching hours for some of these. Ive watched tutorials today and some people walk through these courses like a boss. No. No. No! You actually slide off, over jump, etc like all of us common folk. Thank you!
(WARNING: LONG POST) I don't know why, but Wall Kicks Will Work worked for me the first time with a triple jump. Also, for Big Boo's Balcony, long jumps are forgiving, allowing jumps on slants afterward (jump to the side, then jump back to the middle). Finally, for Eye to Eye in the Secret Room, try backflipping to the side wall and wall jumping. The stars I had trouble with (in no particular order): •100 coins in Shifting Sand Land (EVERYTHING kills you) •Can the Eel Come Out to Play? (the same reasons you mentioned) •8 red coins in the Sky (again, what you mentioned) •Go to Town for Red Coins (particularly the one at 9:33) •the one inside the tree in Tiny Huge Island (failing a jump kills you) •100 coins in Tick Tock Clock (same reason as above) •the star to unlock invisible cap (those vertical conveyors are evil) •catching the monkey in Tall Tall Mountain (like the bunny, but you have to climb the mountain first) Still, great nostalgic video!
L1N3R1D3R I agree with you, But at 6:07 I never though the normal way to that was the long jump. The first time I pleyed this Level I took the side wall to jump. That was not a big question for a lot of my friends though! -_-

Great list! I feel the same way about most of these stars too. I remember spending hours on certain stars and I was able to complete most of them back i the day with no guide, The stars now only take me several minutes to get because you learn new ways and shortcuts to get them. Here is how I feel about your list: #15: Yes, this one was very cryptic! I think this is one of the few I used a guide for. I am shocked how obscure it was for the second level in the game. #14: This one is sort of cryptic, but you can actually see the star if you are hiding in the alcove where the coins are. The wall kicking part is tricky though and took me hours to get. #13: I never had trouble with this one. The only annoying part is when you waste a Spindrift and miss the platform. I think the star actually does a good job telling you how to get it. #12: One of the most frustrating stars in the game. The first hard part is getting to the cannon. The second hardest part is actually blasting to the mushroom without falling off. Pretty challenging if you suck at the cannon like me. #11: This one is annoying to get mostly because touching the eel gives you damage. If you wait for the eel to come out though, you can touch the star without having to chase after him. #10: I thought it was lame that they used two stars just for the rabbit. One time was good enough, but it is pretty uncreative to use it again for another star. Kind of like the Toad stars. #9: Another annoying one if you are bad at the wall kicks, but it is a good and fair challenge. The second jump requires you to do a triple jump to reach the highest platform, but your way is easier. It is also pretty evil that there is a little slippery path to the star #8: This one is hard for the wall jump and camera angle like you mentioned, but I felt that it was a good challenge. #7: Probably one of the hardest stars to get in the game! There is little room for error and wall jumping to get the blue coins is very tricky. You pretty much must get them if you want to get the star in this level. #6: This star brings back good memories.I remember spending hours trying to get onto that roof. The first hard part is wall jumping to get up to the upper floor. Then long jumping to the roof is also very tricky. But this is one of my most favorite stars in the game. #5: Very hard and very cryptic star. #4: This is my favorite red coin challenge in the game. I like how you have to come up with different ways to reach the roofs of the buildings. #3: I hate this one right here for the fact that it is easy to over jump one of the ledges with the coins on it. And if you fall, you have to start back over. #2: Word, probably one of the most challenging secret stars in the game. #1: I hate the stars that involve the Wing Cap. This one requires patience to get though and remembering what clouds you went on. Definitely deserves the #1 spot.
The quality of the video is actually kind of charming:it reminds me of what kind of videos I'd make with my plush toys (they’re unfortunately lost to time)
One of the best things about time tested, well known, well loved games, is the nostalgia of some of your most favorite and least favorite worlds, and the challenges that come with them. And of course trying to beat your best times for the games. I can still remember being 7 when Super Metroid came out for Super Nintendo, and playing through it the first time. There is a reason it is my all time favorite game, it just gave me an experience I will never forget. And I still play to this day, trying to do 100% speed runs, without glitches/cheating. All time best is 1:44. This is another of those great games. I remember being 10 when my grandma bought my brothers and I an N64, with this, Mortal Kombat, and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire. I remember us all doing our best to beat Peach's slide as quick as possible. I think my brother had the best at about 18.6. And all three of us working together on solving the puzzles for all 120 stars. This list hit home really well, and I still remember star #120, that F****** Cloud world. As a 10, 11, and 13 year old, we couldn't get the mechanics of flying to work just right, and ended up outside the castle countless times.
Nathaniel Bandy I would say the second race with koopa quick was tough unlike the last race in bomb omb battlefield there is little room to run and one slip up is all it took to fail.
Nathaniel Bandy I beat it when I was 8 btw it was the day version with a dpad and 30 more stars... there was not a single level that took more than an hour
For anyone who's having issues with doing the star near the health-depleting icy lake, or the eight red coins. You can actually bypass that entire section if you long jump into a slope, and carefully dive to clip into bounds on the ledge. From there, it's a simple walk over to the boxes to claim either the left star, or the turtle shell which'll help near the deadly lake with the chilly.
"i tried triple jumping, long jumping, side jumping, back flipping... nothing works!" so you tried everything but wall kicking. the level is literally called "wall kicks will work"
I Really enjoyed watching your video , your comments are very funny and real 😂😂 you remind me of my feelings when I was a kid and tried to get those stupid stars😭😂😂 but this game is my favorite 😍😍
Most Hilarious Moments: 0:35 THAT ARTWORK AND AUDIO ARE GENIUS 2:01 That shift of tone almost scared me 3:14 3:47 jesus christ classic nb was a savage 5:20 Did you hear that the sounds were slowed down? XD 6:03 When you can't get past a level in The Lost Levels 7:03 clearly 8:02 NB Dictionary for this specific star 9:18 Apparently you're done eating dinner when you can't find anymore coins 10:40 It's just funny how he reused that line from the previous star 11:19 helicopter 11:32 Red Coin = Waluigi??? 11:50 THAT CLOUD STAGE I don't think these are bad errors honestly. I think they're just so AWESOME AND HILARIOUS to see. I honestly love Classic NB just due to the scripting he did. I have supported you ever since Top 10 Hardest Super Mario Galaxy Stars, and I look forward to every new video you have to offer! This video is definitely your worst Top 10, but at the same time, it's literally the best. I LOVE REWATCHING THIS VIDEO
Jayden Grammes Honey, nobody likes a troll. Claim to be good all you want, but anyone who has taken a child development class (or had a kid) knows that fine motor skills don't even *begin* to develop until five or six at the earliest. Your brain can't make the tiny adjustments well enough at that age or communicate with your muscles perfectly yet. I think odds are better you are remembering it wrong.
So the moral of the story is... Nathan is just horrible at this game. This game, while it took time to get all the stars, was fairly easy. I don't ever remember any stage being difficult to get the stars, or at least not to the extent that Nathan says. I know difficulty isn't based on a quantitative measurement, so it's relative for each person, but man this game was no where near as difficult as what Nathan explains. Glad he managed to get through it nonetheless, and I'm sure that game was that much more satisfying once he finally did conquer it. Good for him for persevering.
Nathaniel Bandy I thought it was a good video. Sure after you've beat the game a few times and know exactly where everything is yeah its pretty easy. But the very first time you are playing this game in 1996 some of those stars were a pain. I agree with you about that cloud stage for the red coins being the hardest. Now when I play it it really isn't that hard, but back when the game was new OMG. The wing cap was a pain to control and I would get so pissed. Mess up with spend 10 minutes going through the castle again just to play the stage for 2 minutes and screw up. So it was a good video, you had to play the game back in the day to appreciate how hard some of the starts were. I remember playing this game on the Wal-Mart N64 demo unit thing quite a bit. If only I knew about the backward longjumps to get up to final bowser without 70 stars. I would have blew peoples mind at Wal-Mart ha ha ha
I shed this game growing up, like when I was 8 is when I played it the most, I played it for days on end and never beat it, then later in life about 12, I went back and beat it. I now speed run for fun. He isn't saying that this game is that hard, more just that it was really hard when he began to play it.
I found Blast Away the Wall by accident, too. I was trying to use the cannon to get to that one star on the small platform you're supposed to use the owl to get to and accidentally hit the wall. I didn't even know where to get stars like Wall Kicks Will Work until I saw a 100% speedrun and I actually did the shortcut of basically jumping from the start all the way down there to get to it. Also, you can change the water level in the town to get onto the buildings.
Nathaniel Bandy late respond ^_^ the hardest one was definitely a nightmare first time playing and using emulator of project64 I did use the Cheat console (Control+C) levitate to get that star U_U
Zero It's fine on an emulator, but playing on an actual console (whether it be Wii, DS, or N64) is _in my opinion_ a more wholesome and complete experience. Don't get me wrong, emulators have their advantages, but yeah. I have no synopsis/ ending.
The problem with this video is that Nathaniel Bandy recorded the footage and audio outside and it was nighttime so you can here the crickets chirping and you can see the TV and most of the stars are easy and he exaggerated how long he spent getting the stars.
And not to mention most of these stars are easy if you know what you're doing. But some of them are still kinda stupid though, like the red coins in the final Bowser stage and 100 coins in Rainbow Ride
Mario games were never that difficult. They were only hard back then because you were young and rather inexperienced with the games. I still play SM64 and now that I am older and know all the secrets the game is actually pretty easy for me. It's still good old classic fun for me. My favorite level is the one with the 2 islands that you go two with one being big and the other small. It kind of reminds me of that one level in SMB3 with the doors where if you go through them you are taken to a replica of the same level. Only the enemies sizes are reduced to normal where on the original side they are giant.
Dude collecting some of the stars and stamps in 3D world were actually pretty difficult. Just running through the levels is easy, but it's hard to collect everything.
I'm STILL trying to 100% Mario 3D World, the final levels of the game are very challenging. I applaud Nintendo for the stamps and stars being difficult, now they just need to make the last few level DESIGNS difficult.
I really agree with the most... It is like you are in my mind... But one of the hardest star to find, especially as a kid, it's the star with body and head in cool mountain... I had 119 stars as a kid and I couldn't find this for months
Why does this video have 3K likes? I recorded footage with my camcorder and audio outside haha. Thanks anyway guys!

It is also pretty evil that there is a little slippery path to the star
#8: This one is hard for the wall jump and camera angle like you mentioned, but I felt that it was a good challenge.
#4. Let's rename it Mario's Edge
The quality of the video is actually kind of charming:it reminds me of what kind of videos I'd make with my plush toys (they’re unfortunately lost to time)
This is a classic NB video. I especially love it when he says “That Cloud Stage” and “This Star is just poop”
You just earned 10 subs my friends were over ;-)
Kylan Patterson thank you!!! :D
U got dat kush And this was their first video? I feel sorry for them.
Its hard as a kids perspective guys! Chill out.
IronGolem Thank you!
Nathaniel Bandy I would say the second race with koopa quick was tough unlike the last race in bomb omb battlefield there is little room to run and one slip up is all it took to fail.
Nathaniel Bandy I beat it when I was 8 btw it was the day version with a dpad and 30 more stars... there was not a single level that took more than an hour
im a 11 year old kid and when i played this game I JUST NEVER DIED NO CHEATS! I AM THE MARIO LEGENDARY MASTER!
Chrmzy ima kid and most of these are easy
11:26 i remember i got so mad that i wanted to kill myself by jumping off but i land where the coin was lol
"i tried triple jumping, long jumping, side jumping, back flipping... nothing works!"
so you tried everything but wall kicking. the level is literally called "wall kicks will work"
"that cloud stage"
I'm not only making fun of how he said it, but its not that hard
12:37 you’d end up back outside the castle anyway with 0 lives lol
Looks like little ol Nathaniel is *'TRIGGERED'*
WOW! I love this video! It's got the best audio!
Hold up, ain’t you Nathanial B?
Yes he is
You only need to talk to the pink bob-omb once, and then the cannon's open forever.
I Really enjoyed watching your video , your comments are very funny and real 😂😂 you remind me of my feelings when I was a kid and tried to get those stupid stars😭😂😂 but this game is my favorite 😍😍
Most Hilarious Moments:
0:35 THAT ARTWORK AND AUDIO ARE GENIUS
2:01 That shift of tone almost scared me
3:14
3:47 jesus christ classic nb was a savage
5:20 Did you hear that the sounds were slowed down? XD
6:03 When you can't get past a level in The Lost Levels
7:03 clearly
8:02 NB Dictionary for this specific star
9:18 Apparently you're done eating dinner when you can't find anymore coins
10:40 It's just funny how he reused that line from the previous star
11:19 helicopter
11:32 Red Coin = Waluigi???
11:50 THAT CLOUD STAGE
I don't think these are bad errors honestly.
3:40 best way: the ledge before the bowling balls, where there’s a sign. Long jump from there. You land perfectly on the mushroom.
6:14 I think that is the intended way.
That's what I was thinking! At least that's how I always got that star!
Hazza Napkin Yeah I got it on my 1st try. MLG W00T
gamerguy101 You can do a triple jump and get to the high wall.
Super Brain THANK YOU FOR TELLING THEM THAT! It took me like 3 trys but I easily made it up there.
When I was 4, I beat the #1 hardest star in 2 attempts.
When I was a fetus, I beat Bruce Lee in a thumb wrestling match.

damn son!

nice...
Matt Harms Back then, I was pretty bad at video games. Now, I speedrun this game and can beat it in 3 and a half hours pretty easily.
Matt Harms yeah it was just time consuming trying to figure how to get certain cryptic stars.
Matt Harms I agree, a lot of these where easy stars for me.
This is my quality with the technology we have today. Still your older content and newer content will always be good 👌
Nb’s first words: I been playing super Mario 64 for a long time
Are these coins still hard to you to this day?
VincentWeir Not at all lol
+Nathaniel Bandy it's not dry dry desert it's shifting sand land
+Nathaniel Bandy lol I knew it
VincentWeir coins? Really?
STARS
Honorable mention for this list: Rematch w/ Koopa the Quick.
No offense,
but I'm 12 and got the 21-second star easily
Matthew Kunkle same
Matthew Kunkle same btw he is talking off memory from when he was 8-9 sooooo yeah
why does every 12 year old feel the need to state it jesus christ
sp00pst3r this was one of the first 3D platforming games
soooo.....
Im 12 took me at least 5 trys good job
this list brings back so much nostalgia. oh how far nathaniel has come. thanks for a great childhood
13:02
2011: Mario 64 is the best video game of all time in Nathaniels opinion
2017:
MARIO ODYSSEY
REEEEEEEEEEEE
damn, good narration man.

7:25 on the ghost stage!
Respect ✊ Big boos haunt please
Yeaaaahhhhhh
Greatest game ever, and not one modern game is yet top it
Until Super Mario Odyssey came along.
@@nintendoguy6883 until Super Mario Maker 2 came along
Rodger Arnold three words: Thousand Year Door
I love Nathaniel reactions to when he watched this later on
The ORIGINAL Nathaniel Bandy Top 10 (But it was actually a top 15)
I've always found getting 100 coins on Hazy Maze Cave to be a real bitch.
It's more time consuming then challenging imo
Yes that's true
Ikr
It's a bitch and a half. I still hate it.
Big Boo's is pretty hard to get 100. If any disappear before you collect them from the Spiders..... Start over!
Also, you can change the water level in the town to get onto the buildings.
same thing happen to me.
Absolutely the same happen to me.
Just watched the top 10 worst top 10's and I understand now.
2 weeks for the 10 year aniversary of his first top 10 and "real" Nathaniel Bandy video
Can't believe I'm still playing this over and over again lol
you just earned a new subscriber! :D
***** Thanks! :D
Nathaniel Bandy
late respond ^_^ the hardest one was definitely a nightmare first time playing and using emulator of project64 I did use the Cheat console (Control+C) levitate to get that star U_U
Zero
It's fine on an emulator, but playing on an actual console (whether it be Wii, DS, or N64) is _in my opinion_ a more wholesome and complete experience. Don't get me wrong, emulators have their advantages, but yeah. I have no synopsis/ ending.
This is by far the best mario game
Not really, because even when you commented that, the Galaxy games existed, which are better than any N64 game could ever be.
Sunshine looks better
Mario sunshine, Galaxy 1 and 2, odyssey, and 3D world
Although there's some non nintendo games that are way way better
im guessing mario searches stuff up on Yahoo
Ah yes Nathaniel Brandy’s first nintendo video😁
The problem with this video is that Nathaniel Bandy recorded the footage and audio outside and it was nighttime so you can here the crickets chirping and you can see the TV and most of the stars are easy and he exaggerated how long he spent getting the stars.
And not to mention most of these stars are easy if you know what you're doing. But some of them are still kinda stupid though, like the red coins in the final Bowser stage and 100 coins in Rainbow Ride
Fun fact, if u hear closely when ranting about that bowser red coin, u can hear a helicopter outside
9:34 That's one of my favorite stars.
9:50 it's Shifting Sand Land
The best part is even the footage shows it
You can hear the avgn influence
8 years later...
Oh cool the full thing
Wow what a very insightful video. I haven't seen the full video yet, but I really hope he puts one of the Tick-Tock Clock stars on this list!
I know I'm commenting on a *12 year video* but...
_D R Y D R Y D E S E R T_
I played the ds version and guess what. I got 149 stars. All but the rainbow ride 100 coin star
go get that last star!
Ok
Sy Kavousian My big brother has 138 and i have 81
Sy Kavousian Now i have 105.
Jacob Barber i have 80
what happend o the mario games? they were so challanging... but now look at Super mario 3d world....
Sharkie6545 I agree, I found Sunshine a pain in the ass.
Nathaniel Bandy :I I have ti get everything to unlick world crown >:I
I really agree with the most... It is like you are in my mind... But one of the hardest star to find, especially as a kid, it's the star with body and head in cool mountain... I had 119 stars as a kid and I couldn't find this for months
