- Episode 2: Revenant. Its out in just over a couple of weeks and today we explain everything we know. Story secrets you may have missed including the return of the Fanatic and a destination, Monster hunting gameplay, vampire inspired armor and much more. Let’s take a look.

I swear to God, if the final boss of Revenant is some giant Scorn Abomination, I’m gonna keep playing because I have a problem but man will I be upset about it

It's going to be about 2-3 days worth of content at most, and for the people who burn through content hard, it'll be at most a couple hours. Then it'll just be a content drought for a couple more months before the next episode.
If you actually play the content properly and not grind to finish it at once
It'll offer enough to last till the next update
Just to clarify something:
They aren't releasing the story of the whole Episode at once - only of that specific Act (so yeah, 3-4 days basically).
You are still right about the aspect of the content draught, tho.
I'm fine with that. I still play destiny because there is always content. Ritual activities for me, others enjoy raids and dungeons. It's nice they are continuously updating the game idk wtf you expect. Then to make content faster than we can play it? Does any game do that?? 😂

just like before seasons... players say they want everything all at once, but when it happens, i bet everyone is gonna complain about not enough content when they burn through it all instantly

I’ve never witnessed a more entitled community. Acting line $15 every 4 months is some sort of massive investment deserving of an entire games worth of content.

I already know, people are going to hate the new story change. I personally think they should do a week of story, a week off. That way you can do the story, and then do whatever you want for the rest of that week and then the week after, either weekly challenges, other games, or things not destiny related. To me, that is perfect
I agree with that. I didn’t mind this current episode’s cadence either. One on and one off seems like a better balance

then you get a boring story like echoes.
The Tangled shore will probably come back in Revenant. Best case scenario, it’ll be like the Leviathan from Season of the Haunted. Worse case scenario, it’ll be like Titan from Season of the Deep. It’d be nice if we got the destination back, but I doubt it

@@DioStandProud because it was a cool location. Besides we all know how bungie loves to re use destinations. Mars is a d1 destination that would have to be created from scratch
@@zanthemeximan If you go out of bounds in the Enclave you can find a lot of the D1 areas just with lacking textures.

I always kinda liked the bounty hunting system they had in the Forsaken DLC from Spider cause it gave a reason to check out the different lost sectors around Sol. Hope we get something similar.
The lore is going to be about the scorn getting worms, the problem with that is this story cannot be done justice in just an episode.
I'm 99 percent sure that isn't true my guy, the whole lead up to the story has been about the scorn trying to develop their own culture, why would they ape the hive?
@AgniAfrastos It makes sense story wise, The Hive have been getting story beats about how they can survive without a worm thanks to The Traveler and Savathuun, Rhulk was experimenting with the scorn to see what would happen if they end up with a hive worm, which we saw during The Caretaker fight which was an abomination with a Hive worm
That'd be a stupid decision on the scorns part I wanna say, cause hive worms are essentially tapeworms that give you superpowers as long as you become a serial killer. Idk how that'd work with the scorn tho I'll give you that, they have their life forces disconnected from their bodies, and their flesh infused with dark paracausal energy through reality inversion. They might be able to force a stalemate with worms given that conditional immortality.
I really like how Bungie added Herblore to Destiny 2.
I really hope we get these things in revenant
1. Spider (the lack of spider troubles me) and Variks.
2. The season of the splicer ornaments returning.
3. A new legendary glaive.
Yeah but I would love a strand/stasis glaive in the kinetic slot

I have hope for us actually fighting fikrul in this season just because he technically can’t die so he can still come back for later story’s which seems like the whole point of these episodes. But you know who knows at this point anymore
Hopefully that weapon with the red stake in the front isn't a glaive......
Considering its shape, it looks more like a Trace Rifle.

When I think monster hunter, Glaives do come to mind. Makes me wish that instead of Rocket Assisted Sidearms, the just gave us Crossbows instead

Yay to responding to player feedback and letting us play out the season without time gating. Just please don't tell me that it's still "play the same mission 10 times" but with different dialogue.

I've always hoped that the scorn would occupy a barren part of the moon, building villages and fortresses something seen on Tatooine like where Anakin was raised but with the scorn aesthetic riding on vehicles and looting Mad Max style
I hope the activities for this episode are better than the ones we have right now. Bungie needs to make more activities like the menagerie that are actually fun to replay.
I wonder if Fiktul's new army will be scorn, fallen, or both. It would also be cool to see scorn brigs and skiffs.
For last few years I started pacing myself with tha content.. I still got plenty to do just playing final shape.. people should stop burning through tha content in a day... Lol

I’m nervous. Last monster hunting season was REALLY bad and easily one of the worst ones.

Season of the hunt was genuinely so fucking bad. It was like they tried to get all of the basic hallmarks of monster hunter but with 0 of the substance
@@hatchell18 alright well you definitely aren't a vet, I'm not and it was absolutely shit. idk how they got chosen and splicer right after cause those were amazing. hunt had the worst stuff, shit story, loot not worthy of using ever. The pass ornaments were ok and duality was the only actual good thing that we got from it. Unique? sure. Good? compared to the seasons DIRECTLY after? no
If it’s a full prison of elders location I wouldn’t hate that.
We Need A New Darkness Subclass For This, At This Point Im Literally Just Unhinged And Adamant About Having A 3rd Darkness Subclass
Honestly, Icebreaker was a missed opportunity for Bungie. That should have been the exotic from Deep Stone Crypt, which in name is perfect as the raid took place on Europa. And they could have explained that Icebreaker was an ion cannon off of Deep Stone Crypt's defense systems.
People who don't like content delivered all at once don't deserve consideration. We shouldn't all have our content dripfed because a handful of individuals think stretching an hour of content into three 20 minute weekly sessions magically makes it more content, yet still lack the self control to pace themselves on their own.
I'm so tired of poor metric generating decisions that are clearly anticonsumer being defended by people that can't even process the idea of buying a second videogame.
Sometimes the armor can be mid but honestly I have so much appreciation for the devs who design these amazing weapons and armor.
Warlocks armor looks just Nemesis from resident evil. And then of course the other one looks like old hunter from bloodborn.
I have a feeling we will NOT recover the Echo from ANY of the Episodes until some kind of Finale Event

Seasons are simply now called Acts. Its like rebranding a generic supermarket beer but the contents remain the same.

Just to confirm, will Episode One still be playable? I still need to unlock the Catalyst for the new Exotic weapon, but I’ve been busy, and honestly, I’m lacking the motivation.
Yes, everything stays until the next dlc drops then the seasons get removed. The exotic mission will stay no matter what however.

Would be very sick if they got us a assault rifle that is like the crossbow from 2004’s Van helsing, make it a special weapon like they did with the rocket sidearms

We have to get a bloodborne type trick weapon for this episode, like imagine a gun that could turn into a glaive (i swear that would the only glaive i would ever use)

So we’re still getting timegated content that’s pretty unfortunate the way everyone was hyping it up I thought it was the whole episode being released day 1 with no time gating but oh well guess that means I can go back to playing 1 week per act and come back the last few weeks of the episode to grind everything out

What if in the end Spider steals the Echo after we defeated The Fanatic to flee and come back at a later time with a whole new look.
Maybe the could have an exotic rocket launcher that shoot stakes that stick in the target cause them to bleed, doing damage over time.

I really dont care about hype cycles until they prove they can do more than guns. Im happy we are getting a new dungeon, but after the rollout of the 10th anniversary, I'm very skeptical.
But i can also understand why they are switching to the new model, pretty hard to convince people to buy new content.....when you arent really adding new content

Overall player counts aren't at an all-time low, just the Steam Charts player count. Steam Charts doesn't go back far enough to see the slump during Curse of Osiris that nearly killed the franchise. Back then, there were about 25k players total across all platforms. That's less than just the Steam Charts are currently. You can easily 4X the Steam Charts data number to get an idea of what the actual player count is across all platforms.
Splitting hairs, it’s very obvious the game is in a bad state and you personally liking it doesn’t change that

Just pointing out that the game, while not in a good state now, has been in worse states in the past. That said, Bungie had no other focus during the all-time-low that was Curse of Osiris, whereas now, their attention is split between Destiny and Marathon.

I have a feeling D2 will hit its lowest player count yet with this ep. I'm not a huge fan of timegating but I understand why they do it. Everyone is gonna blaze through the act and get whatever red-borders are available all within the first 2 weeks and stop playing unless the dungeon is insanely good but we'll see. The same ppl who complained about timegating will be the same ones saying they have nothing to do until Act 2. And by the time act 2 is out most ppl will have already had most of the loot and got their fill of the dungeon and ppl will just completely put the game down until Act 3 etc. etc. I hope I'm wrong tho.
That's almost precisely what went through my head the second I was listening to what was releasing... Why haven't any content creators addressed this specifically? Why's everyone in copium land in the Destiny community not addressing this? It's the BIGGEST elephant in the room.

Mithrax and some of those weapons COULD possibly return... In the way the Saint 14 seasonal weapons were re-released. There will be original thematic Episode weapons also.

Act 1 was bundled with the dlc I'm not sure I'd be happy if I payed the asking price for it now act 2 costs silver and so does the 2 dungeons one won't be playable for 6 months so it's nearly the cost of a new game its definitely gunna be another skipped season for me were I just watch the aztecross weekly videos on the story missions
Let's be honest, it doesn't matter what Bungie does with "episodes", "seasons", "thoughts of fancy", "whatever..." It doesn't matter, the community will complain and the loudest complainers will be amplified over and over, because it gets clicks.
