Preach Jen Preach! I was visiting my parents once and my baby was sick. My dad ran me to the store and made a snarky comment when I heaved a 24 pack of diet soda in the cart. I looked at him and said “ how many cigarettes have you had today dad “ Love you Jen keep being you!
I follow you because you're real!!! I get tips and hacks for my family from your channel. I also work full time and I'm a mom of 4 so I need shortcuts and I identify with you. I love your channel and your normal real self Jen!
I like watching the Crunchy Mom, she is really funny! You are so right about not showing the reality of regular eating. This is why I enjoy so much Jamerryll's channel as well
Those Bold Taco shells are THE BEST! They have been out of stock for foreverrrrr and just recently back on the shelves and the kids (and myself) were so excited!
Gen X'er here. My 7th grade daughter has never liked the clothing with logos and such on them. I tease and say that her closet looks like a capsule wardrobe for a 40 year old woman LOL!
I'm pretty sure you are the reason I use audible. I also remember back in the day when you would sneak away to your closet with wine and your book of the month club and just sit down and chat with us. ReallyVeryCrunchy Mom is awesome!!! Never fails to make me laugh.
Hi Jen, thanks for the fun video! People never cease to amaze me with what they choose to care about. Authenticity is always better. Ignore the complainers.
Yes!!! Love honest grocery hauls! We have what we call freezer food dinner at least once a week. It’s a nice break for me and better and cheaper than getting take out. And let not lie about eating out too. It’s Friday. My son and I are going to make cookies after school, order pizza and watch Halloween movies!
You go girl, we all have quilty pleasures! OMG have you made Adam chipped beef gravy for breakfast? He would love it. That is a guilty please of mine, jarred canned beef.
Your grocery hauls are always very similar to mine when my boys were young. I made dinner for us all every night but, I always had lots of snacks around too. Teenage boys eat a LOT and so do their friends!
My guilty pleasure in a can would be the Chef Boyardee ABCs and 123s with Mini Meatballs 🤣I never had them as a kid, now I love bringing them to work as an easy lunch. Instant mashed potatoes to thicken soups is a great way to use them!
I love that you are so real and raw. I am also a work mom with 2 boys and my husband works night, so to me you are so relatable! Life is about balance! My boys love pogos so that's in my freezer! Best quick lunch.... with fruit and veggies of course 😋
Jen, I love that you’re authentic with what you shop for and eat. I think what you show is more the norm than how others portray their lives on social media. As for Bobby Parrish, more power to him for having both the money and the palate to sustain that lifestyle! Haha! I’ve bought some of his recommendations and even have his app on my phone but there have been quite a bunch of misses for me when it comes to flavors.
My kid eats the pizza rolls, bagel bites, pretzel dogs, ramen noodles, and all the other fast meals we can use! Sometimes we’re eating healthy and clean only and other times we are just living our best lives! Thank you for being so awesome!
Re Kids clothing: I don't (didn't?) have kids but I gained custody of my 15 y/o niece this year. TALK ABOUT CULTURE SHOCK. We were doing back to school shopping and she literally said to me "We can't buy anything from walmart because the other kids don't think it's cool" and I'm just like.... They don't write WALMART all across the front of it. So the only way the other kids know your clothes are from walmart is if you tell them, or they shop there too. boom.
Much love to you, Jen. I fed both my kids plenty of hot pockets and pizza rolls throughout their childhood (balanced with healthier home cooked items as well) and they are both successful and healthy adults now. My daughter (36) is a Senior Associate Administrator for a Global Consulting Firm and my son (30) is a County Sheriff Deputy. Both are happily married and I will be a grammy next March. Woohoo!! I was divorced when they were 6 and 12, so I did what I could do. I think society expects WAY too much of us moms. You're doing awesome, keep up the good work, your kids are great! Love your videos!!! :)
Yes, processed food in the freezer is needed for real life for working moms with kids! People need to realize how to be realistic feeding kids food they will a actually eat and things easy to whip up in a pinch! And yes, I do cook meals from scratch as well when I can a few times a week. Balance is key! Love you Jen! Keep it real girl! Xoxo
Just know it’s ok. Just be yourself and you do you. I will not judge. I can’t plain and simple. Love your food hauls. My kids are grown and I do to eat pizza rolls and eat things in a can. It’s our favorite comfort food.
Esprit and guess. I had an Esprit tote bag and still use it today. Otherwise it was Kmart clothes or Sears. Yes my teen son eats pizza rolls, combination flavor so it’s pry worse since it’s stuffed with all the toppings!
My son just turned 23. The big thing is shopping at thrift stores for old vintage t-shirts. He has a Billy Ray Cyrus concert t-shirt and some other old concert t-shirts. But shoes still have to be big brand name expensive ones.
My kids thrived and my daughter survived (thankfully 🥰) due to just eating. Just get stuff in and be glad for it. 🥰 you can figure the rest out later. Love your "realness". VERY relatable. Even here in Canada 🇨🇦 😅 😂
I firmly believe if people want to judge what I feed my family, then they can just say "thank God Hannah doesn't feed My family" and go on about their business 😏 and I'm on my way with my false teeth to eat those pizza rolls 🤣
Great video Jen! I enjoy your channel so much even though I am a single senior. It is even difficult cooking for one. Some days I just want comfort food!🥰
I’ve been subbed for years and love when you casually address the foolishness that goes on here on Y/T. I remember when I started cooking and showing that you could cook from scratch pretty easily and just being creative in the kitchen, it seemed like there was an uproar about affordability and time. The reality is folks just didn’t know how to cook and were offended. Now that everyone has figured out how to “cook” from Y/T, I find it funny that the same folks who were snarling at the idea are now promoting some of those same things b/c they gained popularity sharing other people’s recipes (“shred your own cheese, buy meat from here b/c it’s quality, etc.) I for one love cooking from scratch, but the reality is, I need convenience just as much as the next person. I happily keep the old school lunch chicken patties (early nineties, Ifykyk), amongst many other convenience foods and I love the nostalgic feeling I get every time I eat one. But yes, the foolery is certainly at an all time high 🙄🤣🤣.
I LOVE the canned Mary Kitchen Roast Beef Hash. I fry it up, break eggs over it and put the cover on the skillet with the heat on low. The eggs cook up as “dippy eggs.” An easy, filling and stick to your ribs meal.
Just bought your newest cookbook and I LOVE IT, Jen!!!💗 I think your home cooking is very healthy so buying some of the "fun" foods in your grocery hauls is not a big deal!💗God bless you & your family & 2 furbabies.💗 P.s. Please, have a safe holiday 🎃 coming up, but have fun!!
Yes Jen! Thank you for the truthful grocery haul. Happy for those who are all organic and green and eat "this free" and "that free". But in the real world for most of us, we need the convenience, mixed in with the healthy stuff. Even the families that need to rely on eating out a lot. That's ok too. Just balance! As for the kids clothes, My 13 year old "needs" (lol) to wear things that are completely branded on it. I'm a little bit older than you, but yes I grew up with things that had a logo put you in a different status. My daughters are going through the same exact thing now. The bigger and better the logo, the more important they feel. It kind of sucks and I hate that society and social media have done that, but it's exactly the same as when I was a kid.
I made that exact brand and ounces of hash on Sunday with blueberry pancakes and eggs for dinner and loved all of it!! Then had leftovers for breakfast next day!! Lol.
You're spot on about others opinions on your food. Secondly as an '80 baby myself, I remember the "branded" clothes situation. You're correct. I was out of place as well. My clothes came from Walmart/Target as well and no name brand shoes. It's very interesting the shift these days.
My 14 year old loves Target and H&M for clothes! She likes snarky graphic tees more than a brand on a shirt! She does really love love Adidas tennis shoes but I introduced her to them and she likes their aesthetic and that they don’t fall apart easily more than she cares about the brand. ( both pairs she has were around $45 on Amazon so not crazy, IMO)
OMG-I totally agree with you about the canned pumpkin. I am almost finished with my stock from last year (put in in dog food every day)-have already started stocking up for the coming year. No kids in our house but there are pizza rolls in the freezer😊
Great haul. To be honest my daughters would prefer hot pockets or chicken nuggets for dinner then me cook every night. I also work long hours so it helps me also. You do you Jen. Thanks for sharing.
I’m so sorry for the stupid question, but we don’t really have creamer in the UK so I don’t know how you’re supposed to use it? Like I would just use milk in my coffee, is the creamer in place of that, but I assume it also sweetens too?
The thing I see the most right now is Champion. And that is so bizarre to me because when my kids were young in the 80s and 90s that was the lowest brand to buy, in fact kids made fun of you if you wore that brand because it was mostly sold at Kmart. Now, its everything.
I totally relate with the clothes thing! We were also poor (birth in 88) and everything was about what you wore. I told myself my kids would have (mostly) whatever clothss they wanted. My 14 yo could not care less about the clothes she has!
"The next offensive item is..." 🤣 lmao girl I just love your videos. I totally know what you mean about grocery shopping. The mom guilt is real, but seriously there's no way to be a full time working mom and still make everything wholesome and healthy for our families. We just need to find that balance and do what works for us! Also that shirt for your daughter (I don't want to mess up the spelling of her name lol), girl go buy all of them! Those are the nicest, comfy-ist shirts I've worn in a long time! The burnt orange/rust color is perfect for fall!
Omg! I'd never knew those canned tamales existed, but bought a can a few weeks ago and now afraid to try them. Also, if you love diet wild cherry, check out the wild cherry zero. For some reason the zero line seems to taste so much yummier. I did judge you for the vegetable oil though 🤣
Also i typically have chicken patties, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, and pizza rolls on hand for those nights when we need something quick! No judgement from here
That is sooo funny, I was born in 86 and I remember needing that starter jacket when I was in middle school. I so badly wanted the Norte Dame pullover. My mom was a single hardworking mother and got me the Charlotte Hornets pullover starter jacket and I will never forget how happy I was! Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Also fellow Iowa girl here 😍
I love corned beef hash! Fry it up in a skillet and get it crispy, YUM! The roast beef hash is good too. And I could never give up my zero sugar pop. The kids in your neighborhood are lucky with you giving out full size candy bars. We have like 400 trick or treaters, I’d go broke lol.
Convenience all the way! I totally live the same way. Single momma of a 14 year old you do what you gotta do to get through! You are definitely not alone my friend :)
OMG Crunchy mom. So funny. Yes to the hash. I like to have that in my pantry to eat maybe three times a year. It's quick & easy when I'm feeling lazy. Then I'm good for months afterward. Milo is too cute for words!
Pizza rolls in the air fryer is sooo good. Especially with my regular non diet cherry dr pepper. An elderly lady tried one at my work the other day and she bought some for herself lol. Yum! I'll eat a salad with them too or not... oh well.
I also love corned beef hash. Haven't had it in a while. Might have to get myself a can. Enjoy! I like ketchup on mine. I also grew up on pizza rolls. Does anyone else feel like they have changed the recipe? They taste different. I still eat them sometimes though. My 10 yr old doesn't like clothing with brands that are visible. It must be a thing. Very different than when we were young!
My child is grown now, but, I am totally surprised he did not turn in to a bowl of cereal or a Hot Pocket. That is all that child would eat. You are awesome, do not let anyone tell you differently. I always enjoy you and your content, please do not feel bad or alone. I also think that Lara Bars are like the best thing on the planet, they are so nice to throw in your purse and go. You are very cool, don't change.
