I've heard that most cats in cat cafes are often stressed out due to the fact that people don't know how to treat them properly (such as interrupting their naps, picking them up, petting them roughly and following them around). I'm glad you made sure you didn't disturb the kitties who were napping and how you were patting the kitties softly!
I work at a cat cafe, and the cats there have their own space where they can get some privacy, and we also pay a lot of attention to people interacting with the cats. But i dont know if thats everywhere, so i can definitely imagine theres cat cafes where the cats are stressed. We do get little children sometimes which can be a headache to make sure they dont chase any cats, but usually the parents will pay attention to that as well (although ive had parents who were just on their phone while i had to babysit their kids while doing my job, thats the wooorst)

I'm a massive hypochondriac and have three younger siblings, so I kinda have an idea on what it would be like (although, I'm just trying to help my parents out so I can see why it'd be harder for you). I've just seen an overview(?) of an article describing how it can be stressful for the cats, so I didn't know if that was everywhere or just some places. We don't have a cat cafe where I live, only in the big cities down south (we don't really have anything in my town because of how small we are, but there's definitely smaller towns near us so it's not like we're too small). But I'm happy to hear that there are good places, and the stress usually isn't intentional. I just worry because I care a lot about animals, especially cats since they've always been a big part of my life. How is it to work at a cat cafe though? Have you had any particular cat that you especially liked? Were you able to play with them during your shifts or did you have to focus on helping out customers?

They will ask you lots of questions and start conversations, and while im not a very social person, its easy to make small talk about cats. So it feels a little bit like an entertainment job at times, especially with kids. I was very awkward in the beginning, and i would only do what i had to and avoid talking otherwise, but ive gotten very comfortable answering questions and telling stories now. And i am allowed to pet the cats and play with them while working, i just cant get too distracted. But if its a slow day or if a cat really needs to get some energy out, im very much allowed and supposed to play with the cats :)

I go here all the time! I think the cats you saw were Bruno on the stairs and either paddington or Rupert in the bed! They’re brothers and look alike except from more white on one of the noses! Also the one who was loafing on the floor is George and last time we were there he was staying around us because we had some toast that he wanted to steal

I'm a little afraid of cats, and tbf i'm more of a dog person, but my gf took me to a cat café once and it was one of the best evenings of my life! it really helped me with my fear and the little guys were so cute!
Can I suggest maybe going to a cafe or restaurant alone? I always want to go and do some work or study alone in a cafe but I get scared that people will judge me for being alone
Hey bestie! Don’t be afraid!! I totally understand why you’re feeling that way but once your out doing your own thing you won’t have to worry! Everyone there is either doing there own work or focusing on their food, no one will even think twice about you being on your own! Just do your thing and all will be okay. I believe in you ☺️
Ugh I’d love to go to a cat caffe but I’d fall in love with one of the cats and want to adopt it lol There’s one in Stratford Upon Avon where we go pretty much annually with my brother (because I can’t rlly keep up with Shakespeare without him lol) so his cat allergy is currently keeping us safe from me going “Ma. LOOKIT”
