There is no truck drivers shortage, just a shortage of people who are willing to work in horrible conditions for low wages, There is a lot of people who have their class 1 license and choose not to drive truck any more because of the terrible wages and conditions. There’s no shortage of truck drivers, it’s just the pay for the amount of hours you have to put in and bs you have to put up with most of these big companies along with the DOT regulations and many other things to take place out on the road. They make it appear as green grass for potential recruits but I’d advise you to do all of your homework before making any final decisions and if you can help it DO NOT sign any contracts that way you’re not tied down to anyone for a year or more. When I ran loads for one of the larger companies they had me run an unsafe load that another driver(s) failed to get weighed so I’d have to carry it 180 miles back to the shipper to get it straightened out and that was it for me. I woke up, at the end of the day if you get pulled over and DOT officer cites you for a violation, it’s your own fault, your CDL, your DAC report, your career... not your jobs, they can get another driver to replace you for .35-45 cpm you’re another number to check off. Take care of your driving record and don’t let anyone try and intimidate you into doing something that could get you or someone else in trouble or killed. There’s good small companies out there just do a thorough check before a final decision is made and a contract should only be used as a last resort... (forget about those sign on bonuses too)
Yeah, that female was either an actor or sticking to a script. C.R. England does not pay 50k+ to start out, or even to most of their drivers. You have to apply to routes that pay more after a certain amount of time, but those are a minority and have a huge waitlist. Most routes offered pay 700.00 to 900.00 gross. So after taxes, that's 500.00 to 700.00 net for working fourteen hours a day and living in a truck.
Work the numbers, this is the only job in the USA where the employee gets the royal ream every single day. An over the road driver is responsible for a truck, trailer and load 24 hours a day . All added up, the average driver earns less than $ 3.00 per hour.

Is 40k a year fair wage for someone to be away from home months at a time? I don't think so. 40k gross you might take home 30k after taxes. Wow. You can make that at McDonald's
I wish that these news programs would quit lying about the wages. A newbie right out school can expect about 50K if they are with a good company and bust their butts.
Home time is a must and good pay for every hour moving and not moving. Companies should also be responsible for their employees even when there are sleeping. because its there truck! ( companies) Drives should be paid by the hour and get overtime after 40 hours!
The labor shortage is only just beginning. 70,000,000 retired babyboomers still need food and services. 80,000,000 millenials also need food and services, and need to fill jobs that service 200,000,000 people.... maybe we can just outsource to China? Except they have the same issue, except much worse. We can automate only so many jobs, and energy costs will slow automation down.
government needs to back off and quit limiting trucks to 65 mph by engine governor. No wonder Indiana and Michigan hold trucks to 65 mph, they figure they might as well keep truck speed limits at 65 as most trucks don't go past that speed anyway.
Driving truck over the road sucks. It's a divorce machine. You will not see your spouse, your kids, your house, your pets, or any of your toys ever again. If you do, it will be for a few hours on Saturday because you have to leave out Sunday morning because your load delivers Monday morning. And don't even get me started on the DOT. If you love being harrassed by state patrol officers, you will love driving truck. I get heart palpitations every time I'm approaching a weigh station.
No they don’t start at 40,000 a year. Forget home time. 1st year is $12,000. Half of those drivers walk away. Can’t pay their bills. Wives don’t get the money they need at home.
You guys want to know one of the biggest reasons for the shortage it's because every damn trucking company on the planet requires one or two years verifiable experience. If they all require experience or they won't hire you how the hell you supposed to get experience no one wants to drive for Swift or Covenant to get a decent job you have to have previous experience yet no one will hire you so you can get that experience. I've had my class A CDL for over 20 years I can drive any kind of truck on the road yet I can't find a job because I have no previous experience all of my experience has been in smaller trucks and local jobs that's the damn problem
Dude that's what my friend told me they want you to have tankers endorsement and also 2 years of experience when he was in the meeting and straight up and told them your never gonna find drivers
No such thing as a sign on bonus I was promised $7000 and once I hit my orientation I ask the guy doing the video conference when will we receive it he said there’s no sign up bonus not to mention they will keep you on the road for 2-3 months and only have 4-5 days at home C.R ENGLAND is a joke
First of all it's just a job, it doesn't matter if you are a man or a woman. Second, we need a pay increase and i mean a big one if we are going to get people into these empty trucks. Thirdly, good benefits and home time is a must!!!! Drivers are sick and tired of being away from home and life!!! I've been driving since 1987 my time is running out!!! We need more young men and women to fill our empty seats. God bless you all and keep your SHINY side up and RUBBER side down. 😉👍
Truck driving is no different from being in jail CR England was the first company I ever went to work for you never get home and I do not pay enough money I was only making $400 a week I made more when I was doing security guard work when I say 18 to life driving and shifting nothing but a rolling jail cell
6 figures ? That's a laugh. Not at CR England. The average pay is $ 700.00 a week, or $ 35,000 a year. And that's working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Pay is an issue the company s don't pay well. 40k a year before taxes and expenses on the road.companys are banking 3 to 6 dollars a miles and only paying driver 35 cent a mile to drivers.
Drivers need to be paid for all the time they spend on the job, that's a problem in the industry and people want to be home, yes there are people who believe trucking is their life and there's those who's life is at home with their families or the things that make them happy.
Truck driver shortage? There are times when loads are not available, can barely find parking and yeah use C.R. England for an example. Their just trying to make more money themselves training more students. What a slick way to advertise. Lol
Its a monster the industry created for themselves. Trucking always has been a dirty business, and it only gets worse. CR England has played a big role in making it that way. Along with many others. Big companies hide behind layers of recruiting people, and play dumb when drivers realize they've been had. They like ignorant drivers they can manipulate. They want a mindless steering wheel holder to use as long as possible. Integrity and honor mean practically nothing in this business. Some of the dirtiest players are the biggest players. I've been at this 25 years. The only thing that gives me any real hope is the information age. It's getting harder to hide from your past, both for drivers and bottom feeder trucking companies. And I'm liking it.
people don't realize that this is not always a disgruntled driver. I'm saying it like it is.. They wouldn't have a high turnover if they didn't rob their drivers.
There's plenty of drivers . Companies just refuse to pay... Thrn the state is constantly trying to remove drivers from their jobs so the state can earn more revenue off the people
Great pay? Flexible hours? OTR drivers are beholden to the schedules of everyone else, including the Government. Truck companies typically don't pay well, unless it's for something quite specialized. This video looks and sounds more like an ad for a trucking company, and less a legitimate news story.
Do not lease a truck either buy it or become a company driver leasing a truck is in the best interest of the owner of that truck the interest will be higher and before the lease is over you're going to realize if it's for you or not for you and you're not going to like it I leased a truck and I found out that was a wrong move for me one month then threw in the towel and left make sure you read that fine print don't just sign the paper and be prepared you will only be taking a shower 3 times a week because that's how hard you'll be working on that truck just to get that loan on time hot loads hot loads hurry hurry hurry driver get that load why are you late why are you behind traffic I don't care hurry up and get that they're waiting for you expect that from your dispatcher and a whole lot more
So why don't they take South Africa driver s.? I have over 45years in South Africa .l am looking for someone to help me get there . to start a new life .?
How are you doing I am a currently working in south africa as a long haul truck driver ... I am looking for a recruiting agency in America who can help me get a job there do u know anyone who can help me
No driver shortage there are driver pay shortage that’s the truth the 6 figure salary for company driver is a myth not real at all I have been driving for so many years and company driver are unappreciated treated like dime a dozen
Absolutely horrible $44k first year; I made 60k first year with no experience; crap companies like this inflate the illusion of driver shortage due to horrible wages and just overall bad practices by shippers and receivers
Oh my God! There is no driver shortage. The government, American Trucking Association. Made that crap up. To get the rates lower, and kill the owner operator in the process. Look around there are too many of us, don't you see that? Atleast that's what I believe.
When Republicans refuse to allow democrats to pass trucking reform. PAY the truckers hourly 70 hours on duty should be paid every week. $ 25 per hour would be a good start $ 1000 plus gross a week. One of the biggest reason for turnover is fluctuating paychecks people's time is not free, trucking companies are free riding off workers ! Just because Republicans believe companies should have excessive power over workers doesn't mean it's the right way to go. Trucking is dangerous and over the road is the most dangerous of all truck driving. The industry will suffer more and more until it eventually changes whether through restructuring or a labor crisis. When people can find work that pays similar wages and you're home every night. Then trucking will go the way of the dinosaurs and every dispatcher rushing truckers to be unsafe just to deliver just in time frieght will see their jobs disappear as well.
truckins gone to hell first they deregulated it then the price wars which forced they to cut or (cheat) the drivers NEVER drive for a company UNLESS your last job was mickey ds then you think your making money get your own tractor/trailer/icc you can start with a honest broker ( if you can find one) till you get your own clients matchmaker inc in flo,sc used to be a good start i not sure about now but if i had to be close or come home a lot i would never started trucking btw if you think a $1000 a week is a lot of money you must have come from mc donalds to run your own truck a maintain it and pay yourself itl take a minimum of $3500 a week.......happy motoring hand
When I started, 1993, 21 years old, 8 cents a mile. Team.. CRST.. ran 5000 mile a week... 55 mph coast to coast, in a COE.. Now, I make 50 cents a mile solo.. 2500, to 3200 miles a week ELOG.. I could make more, without the ELOG.. and there's no shortage of drivers, just cheap freight.. I don't like running east of the Mississippi cause of all the traffic, and accidents, and idiotic drivers, I run west, 75 mph, less BS..

😂😂 it’s fine if I did I can buy another purse
😂😂 I didn’t have a purse
I wish that these news programs would quit lying about the wages. A newbie right out school can expect about 50K if they are with a good company and bust their butts.
Home time is a must and good pay for every hour moving and not moving. Companies should also be responsible for their employees even when there are sleeping. because its there truck! ( companies) Drives should be paid by the hour and get overtime after 40 hours!
Yes they should be paid to guard the equipment.
No driver shortages, tons of drivers out there just refuse to work to work for abusive employers for low wages at a dangerous job.
At 02:24 "she says companies replace their CARS every two years." 😂😂 Clueless reporters.
Omar0224 she said 3 years so you just as clueless as her😂😂😂
Throwing serious shade at CR England by making them your thumbnail lol.
This is a CR England ad.!
There's no six figure incomes at CR England. The lease operator's get that before all the truck expenses obliterate their personal income.
No they don’t start at 40,000 a year. Forget home time. 1st year is $12,000. Half of those drivers walk away. Can’t pay their bills. Wives don’t get the money they need at home.
Contract was 9months Nowww 1 YEAR😳😥😖
You guys want to know one of the biggest reasons for the shortage it's because every damn trucking company on the planet requires one or two years verifiable experience.
First of all no one asked for your comment & bc I’m a young woman 22 to be exact with my class A Cdl I brag different so yea mind your business!
10k for me to go from bz to az to make min wage no thanks
@Brian how are you doing
Did anyone else notice that Kate Rogers ran over her own purse at the end of the video?
Pay is an issue the company s don't pay well. 40k a year before taxes and expenses on the road.companys are banking 3 to 6 dollars a miles and only paying driver 35 cent a mile to drivers.
2010= $2.35 per mile
2015= $2.35 per mile
2020= $2.47 per mile
We have well over hundreds of thousands of cdl holder's earning a living outside of trucking.
Drivers need to be paid for all the time they spend on the job, that's a problem in the industry and people want to be home, yes there are people who believe trucking is their life and there's those who's life is at home with their families or the things that make them happy.
@Gary how are you doing
No, there's plenty of people to drive truck. There's just not enough people to drive them for pennies on the dollar while getting treated like crap.
They found shittiest company to advertise for. God damn CR England
This has a 95% turn over. That's what the reporter said. That's something to consider before starting there
E-logs and lack of parking have ruined trucking for me. So most of the time I just sit at home.
We don't just need drivers we also need insurance
We got to many trucks out here no parking available women do not last at this job get real.
Do not go to cr England or other mega carriers go to local routes even straight truck
There are no shortag of truck Drivers
There around 300 truck just parked
In Bakersfield ca with on fright for
Them to move the media lies again
Like the other driver side left the freight rate price listen to the truck drivers not the lying media
Truck driver shortage? There are times when loads are not available, can barely find parking and yeah use C.R. England for an example. Their just trying to make more money themselves training more students. What a slick way to advertise. Lol
Well let's see you drive it 2000 miles a week and find out how you make out
It is all about pay.
CRE It's the best company in the Trucks industry...local account
people don't realize that this is not always a disgruntled driver. I'm saying it like it is.. They wouldn't have a high turnover if they didn't rob their drivers.
Ok my Lady bless u on future make work 4 ya congrats
There's plenty of drivers .
Companies just refuse to pay...
Thrn the state is constantly trying to remove drivers from their jobs so the state can earn more revenue off the people
Great pay? Flexible hours? OTR drivers are beholden to the schedules of everyone else, including the Government. Truck companies typically don't pay well, unless it's for something quite specialized. This video looks and sounds more like an ad for a trucking company, and less a legitimate news story.
There is a difference between automatic, And automated Transmissions.
Nice free advertisement for C.R. England.
Pay the drivers stop the shortage, get the driver's home.
bullshit, bullshit, bullshit
Do not lease a truck either buy it or become a company driver leasing a truck is in the best interest of the owner of that truck the interest will be higher and before the lease is over you're going to realize if it's for you or not for you and you're not going to like it I leased a truck and I found out that was a wrong move for me one month then threw in the towel and left make sure you read that fine print don't just sign the paper and be prepared you will only be taking a shower 3 times a week because that's how hard you'll be working on that truck just to get that loan on time hot loads hot loads hurry hurry hurry driver get that load why are you late why are you behind traffic I don't care hurry up and get that they're waiting for you expect that from your dispatcher and a whole lot more
You forgot to say force teaming with total strangers split wages $.30 $.15 a mile slave wages
So why don't they take South Africa driver s.? I have over 45years in South Africa .l am looking for someone to help me get there . to start a new life .?
Pay them fairly and you will get drivers.
Learning to drive a Manuel transmission semi is awesome! I think every truck driving school should have at least one automatic transmission truck.
How much did the crap company of the year pay for this advertisement
DO NOT DRIVE FOR C.R. ENGLAND!!!!! You will be SORRY!!
How are you doing I am a currently working in south africa as a long haul truck driver ... I am looking for a recruiting agency in America who can help me get a job there do u know anyone who can help me
I have been doing tricking in for 45years in South Africa .l am asking sum one to help me to get there . I wood love to driver there .
Mrs. Jenkins has no idea what she's in for
Jos Ron I was thinking the same thing.
@@TMartins379 God help her
Miss Jenkins was clearly paid by CR England to say what they told her to say you could tell she was reading a script haha
@@JB-pg6ju it's a good chance she works in the office for CR England these big trucking companies pull this stuff all the time
@@josron6088 ur probably right
Cre was the runner up for crap company of the year.
That's what they do. Entice u
No driver shortage there are driver pay shortage that’s the truth the 6 figure salary for company driver is a myth not real at all I have been driving for so many years and company driver are unappreciated treated like dime a dozen
I am a truck driver need a job.
This is a lie. No driver shortage problem. A driver retention problem.
It's all cuz of insurance companies they don't accept.new drives so if course I hope there's more shortage
C R is the last place to be for trucking
Lol Kate looks nice inside the truck
Yea, those young girls look like real truck drivers don't they. That's another problem with the trucking industrie these days.
truckins gone to hell first they deregulated it then the price wars which forced they to cut or (cheat) the drivers NEVER drive for a company UNLESS your last job was mickey ds then you think your making money get your own tractor/trailer/icc you can start with a honest broker ( if you can find one) till you get your own clients matchmaker inc in flo,sc used to be a good start i not sure about now but if i had to be close or come home a lot i would never started trucking btw if you think a $1000 a week is a lot of money you must have come from mc donalds to run your own truck a maintain it and pay yourself itl take a minimum of $3500 a week.......happy motoring hand
wouldnt get of bed for 50 k to drive a trailer home every day by 5 been in dump trailer for 33 years 70 k a year what is wrong with people
Lie. They're is no driver shortage.
Not true that mean they trick driver
There is no driver shortage!!!Stop with this bs reporting!!There is a pay shortage and they are trying to kick the owner operators out of the business!!!
The fact that they have CR England in this video, literally the WORST company out there, is such a joke. They literally use 3 drivers in one truck, all living together, for $30,000 per year lol. Garbage company.
Dont share the cash.and be quick to fire.no mercy . new truck smell
How are you doing everyone I currently staying in cape Town south africa and I am looking for a recruiting agency who can help me to get a job in America as truck driver l am currently driving a long haul truck in South Africa
