Yes, but why would these rural folks speak English? China is a big nation with a long cultural and historical heritage, after all. When touring China, visitors should pick up some simple phrases and make attempt to greet or say in Chinese, like ni hao, xie xie, etc. Refrain from asking people for their English names, that's rude and ludicrous at the same time.
