Amazing to think that this wasn't even that long ago, that internet that exists as we know it was created 8 years before I was born, which makes me feel wierd as I've grown up using the internet.

I still remember getting on the internet for the first time. Using a modem, keeping my parents' phone line occupied. Was using Netscape then, and later Comic Chat before switching to mIRC. I then got into chatting a lot and met a great girl from another country one day. Long story short, she moved here, we got married and have 2 children together. So yeah, my life would be totally different if I couldn't be online that day, almost 21 years ago.
How did your family feel about that at that time?

neoasura yes, it would kick you off the phone if someone went on the Internet and it would kick you off the Internet if someone called you and you would log back in which took about 5 minutes and open up your browser waiting another 2 minutes for the page to load

I first heard the term "email" towards the end of '92 - didn't have a clue what it was. Didn't really start to use email properly until 1995 because back then, few people I knew had email accounts. First used Mosaic web browser in 1994 - really slow and basic web sites. The web began to take off from 1996-1997 onwards. Some of the media were still referring to it as the "Information Super Highway". LOL.
Remember when you first searched the web (via altavista) for "warez" .. and actually found some?

I feel the years 2006-2009 was when the internet became the internet. This period saw the emergence of big sites like youtube and Facebook. It was during this period we got memes and when things like 4chan and anime got a huge presence.
tangbein Disagree.. internet existed and its even older than your mother. The concept of Internet started as early as 50s
agreed. Plus thats when high speed internet because super mainstream.

Nowadays most "life" moments of my life are spent on internet (Corona). Wonder what will next comment look like after five years.
@@danese1636 I remember there was a magazine called "Life", which was discontinued in 2000. I guess it was used by people who wanted to read stories.
To be honest, all of our lives would probably be better without the internet but this technology is great anyways. Sometimes i just look at the world and all our technologies and i wonder "Wow....I cant believe this is the peak of human intellect.." We've come so far, all the way from medieval times to the 1900s to the dawn of technology when TV had just been invented and those real old telephones that looked like giant rectangles.. It has taken us here. 2020 hasn't been a great year but boy... We sure have come so far... I think if we think more like this we could get SO much further than now.. Imagine if all of these world leaders and politics all came together as one big group. We could combine our resources and start colonizing other planets and moons,who knows what'll happen in these next few years. Imma copy and paste this whole thing cuz i want people to see this lol
It's cool being able to realise how much the internet has come to think it's gone from a room sized computer to phones it's cool.

This video made me feel super old. I remember my first desktop computer. It had a box monitor and a crappy motherboard. That thing amazed me back then though. I also remember we had about 100 disks in some book for all the cheap games we had. Now all you have to do is download them.
I remember Dial-Up. I would be playing a game online and my mom wouldn't warn me that she was about to call someone. So many Connection Lost messages ;~;
That must suck really bad. Plus, those times when you're mom or dad tells you to pause an online game.

I remember when I was little in kindergarten until 3rd grade in the early 2000’s, we used Brick computers and we would go on starfalls, poptropica, pbskids, spongebob typing, timez attack and watch dvds on it. Awh man, great childhood memories

Yay internet! The internet has literally changed my life in so many different ways. The main one of these being the friends I've met. I've made so many AMAZING friends all over the world because of the internet. And with it, I can keep in touch with them super easily. Without the internet I wouldn't have a job either, since I work for a cloud software company!
