helped me fix my broken nanopad that was sitting broken for many years, thanks. the most frustrating part was taping the cables as all the connectors on nanopad are very close.

Back from the dead! Nanokey is a bit different regarding the data connections, but is easy to figure it out.
    thank you!

Very helpful video, thanks! Revived my old gear just in time for a show~
While my NanoKontrol was broken, I bought the NanoKontrol2- The USB port feels sturdier, so I hope KORG learned from this mistake.

Open the thing up and try to see if certain directions of wiggles make the korg shut down. That could perhaps lead you to find which connector needs to be re-soldered.
Hope you fix it. If you can't, try to find out some more details about the problem and come back to me, or any forum that you can find on this specific problem. Hopefully we can get you back on track.

It should be. The basic components that I rewired in this video should be in every product with a micro USB. /watch?v=spfYhzyjP6g that video will show you how to disassemble the nanoPad. Just look for the two resistors, the inducer (most likely marked L1), and then use the component rings. If it is anything like the nanoKontrol, it should be this easy. If not, I can't help out for that because I do not own a nanoPad for myself. Hope this was of some help.

As long as R2 and R3 are still intact and connected to the circuit board, you should be fine. I did the same repair to my second Korg Kontrol, and I lost the R3 connector. I had over-soldered and that tiny little connector just melted right off onto the floor. So as long as it's still there, you should be fine.
As for the wiggling, are any of your wires stripped too far? Do they touch each other? That is a big problem if they do. That would cause it to power down.

nice video dude. I've been thinking about doing this with behringer umx49. the usb has been faulty and i pretty screwed up my spare usb port replacement. I am waiting for a midi to usb cable - i ordered like 3 from china lol so it might take a long while. but with midi i need an ac adapter. so maybe if i solder a usb cable to the pcb directly it should work better. I hope i can fix it.
I'm also a fan of the nanokontrol. been thinking about getting kontrol2. I'm not sure of the necessity but they replaced the buttons in a more comfortable spot. cheers!

What happens if I accidently over heated/melted the r2 and r3 tiny chip thats on the motherboard? I also over soldered the L1 a little bit as well. I plugged in my korg nano kontrol and it only powers on or works when I wiggle the cable around. I taped it down but any sudden movement to the korg nano it powers down. Do you happen to know if I need to resolder a specific chip that has to do with power?

Anyone have the specs of the inducer and the two resistors? i got one that had a fix atempt that resulted in those components involved in solder blobs :D i just need to get equivalent trhu hole parts to complete a custom cable now...

daniel nutt Make sure that you have unscrewed all 6 screws from the back of the device as well as taken all of the knobs and sliders on the other side off. With these conditions fulfilled, you should be able to rest it on a table and have it come right off by lifting the back side of the device.

Does this works the same way on a nanokontrol 2?

my name is paul not 100% certain, but I can't see them doing much different with the component board from v1 to v2. Especially if it's the same kind of cable for both. Like I said, not sure. I've never owned the 2 so you're doing so at your own risk. Good luck!

    I tried, melted the r2 and r3 and... it's not working. :-(
