- Here we take a look at and test the PT-GP1 HF Multiband Antenna. This can be used either portable, on hikes, sota, pota or even as a semi-permanent home installation with very little visual impace.

I found it on eBay yes I got to buy it now thank you Matt I love the g90 we both have the same radio great radio❤
Mine arrived today after watching your video. Like you I think its really well made. Feels good quality. Can't wait to try it over the weekend.
That’s great! Did you get a chance to try it yet?
@@TechMindsOfficial not yet unfortunately. This time of year I'm finding it difficult to get "radio play time".... Especially on a weekend. As soon as I do tho I'll report back!
For those asking I have run mine at 100w with no problems it’s all just solid rods and the coil is very solid nothing here that would not tolerate 100w
That's a fantastic price and such a good quality antenna. I bought one that costs nearly 3 times the price! I might buy this one also.
Love the channel
Looks really good.
Especially for the price.
The antenna looks like it could be great for portable ops Mat so long as it’s not windy, great video as usual mate 73s Gm4zji Chris
Great video Mat. The antenna looks good yes I agree would be good when I do SOTA. Less of a footprint than my 40/20m linked dipole on a 8m mast.
Motters M7TRS 73
That’s not too bad? For 40 on a little whip, that’s brilliant!👍☘️
This is exactly what I've been looking for ⭐
I wonder how well it could work clamped to a pole, with the ground radials elevated, or even swap the ribbons for 4 or 8 shorter telescopic antennas with ring connectors homebrewed onto the ends, for an elevated groundplane when clamped up a pole🤔
Not bad. I don’t have NFM with my G90 guess I need the latest fw ?
Looks a nice bit of kit to take portable n very cheap :)
I really do like this antenna. Seems to be a very ideal set up for a solo field day with all ultra-portable equipment. Do you have any info on its power handling capability? I see no data on that in the sales link you provided. Nice review, as always Mat! 73, TA2KQ
Looks interesting 👍
What size threads are they, they look M10 as opposed to 3/8?
What is applied HF max. power? I didn't find this information on the seller's page.
Is there a MANUAL someplace for this antenna? I have one and it didn't come with a manual, and I'd really like to see one. I had a problem getting it to tune on anything but 40m, but I *think* I may have had the balun section upside down. But all these details, like the part about not needing the extension bar for 20m and above, was not immediately evident.
If you want to have some fun with the G90, check out the latest firmware release. I saw that antenna when I was shopping for the 5.6m whips they have, in the description they say to separate out the ribbon cable to get the full radial field. I don't imagine would would notice a huge difference in performance if you did that but would be fun to try.
How to install on the roof?very much interested. Perhaps grounding can be clipped at zink awning..
very interesting antenna Mat looks to be performing well id prob open up them ribbon radials tho would be interesting to see inside that feed point as well if there is a balun inside good video 73
Yeh, I think it would break it if I tried to get it apart. I'm sure there is nothing special in there, but cant be 100% sure unless I break it open lol.
@@TechMindsOfficial yeah not worth braking it just enjoy it looks like its working well
Nice idea to use a PVC T-Fitting.
thanks for the test. when you shorten the antenna, do you compact the top elements or do you start with the thicker bottom one, or doesnt it matter? cheers
When I tune mine it doesn’t make a difference but it’s much easier to shorten it at the bottom.
Hello Matt pretty cool antenna buddy where can you get it I looked all over for it 💯
WHAT IS THE POWER HANDLING ?
I didn’t notice you using the built-in tuner Mat. Was that intentional, or did you use it off camera?
Didnt use the internal tuner. The idea is to get the antenna resonant by moving the telescopic but up and down.
Thanks Mat! How long are those radials?
I think about 5M each, but I would have to measure them to be sure.
What’s in the base can we take it apart :)
Can it handle 100 watts?
As someone else asked, what size are the threads please? 3/8 or M10?
M10
impace...impact..it's all the sahme!! ha! best regards, L.
Price is tempting. Very tempting. 73
I'll buy this off you - open to offers?
Nice antenna, that NY repeater on 29.620 really gets out
How much cost of antenna?
I am vu3 jhm from India..
BIG question, ££££????
About £70 but check the link in the description and it will give you the exact price for your region.
PLEASE change the music! Love your videos, though.
The guy asked you to describe your new antenna, and you immediately switched frequencies? I feel bad for that old man.
Course I didn’t! I answered him and told him. It was a long QSO so it was edited out of the video :)
One of the crappiest Chinese antennas I have ever tested. Crappy quality and a crappy coil.
Mine is fine…..component quality is good….not sure what makes a coil “crappy” can you elaborate?
