    The Fujifilm GFX 50R is an expensive medium format camera, with expensive medium format lenses. They're big and cumbersome too. But there are some vintage alternatives thankfully, such as the Tokina 70-210mm and the Minolta 50mm 1.4. Which you might see in this video. Or maybe not. I'll leave that as a surprise for you.

    Thank you for the good laugh, you have a great sense of humor! I bought a GFX 50r yesterday and am looking forward to it’s delivery. I can’t afford any lenses for it yet (really can’t afford the camera either 🫠) but I have a few lenses I can adapt so I’ll put what little money I have left into an adapter or 2. Especially looking forward to trying my Canon 50 1.2 ltm which I have an ltm to M adapter for already so just need an M to GF adapter… I hope this works. But anyway just wanted to say great video and your dry humor made my day!

      Glad you enjoy it mate.
      I love that lens simply because it’s so small for medium format. Got it in a sale early this year too for £400 so it was a no brainer.
      Would’ve made-do with vintage primes otherwise.

    Minolta MD 50/1.7, 45/2 both covers 44x33 sensors pretty well. In fact theres a handy list of all full-frame lenses that covers 4433 made by some dude on the forum.

    • @adamblack9837
      @adamblack9837  Год назад +1

      I’ve got the 45mm f2 so I’ll have to give that a whirl. The 50mm 1.7 is very easy to find too so that’s one to bear in mind, thank you.

    Just came across this video today for some reason. Funnily enough I also use the Tokina 70-210 on my 50R! It's mostly ideal (and SUPER lightweight for its functionality) but is a little soft in the corners when using it uncropped. I have it in a K mount. I got it from a chap on Facebook Marketplace for about $AUD70. I also use an Asahi Pentax Super Takumar 50 1.4, and a Zeiss Flek 35 2.4. The only native lens I use is the GF 35-70. I also occasionally use a Canon 16-35 4 L (only from about 19mm thought as wider than that has mechanical vignetting).

    Awesome shots and a fun video, thank you! I use Minolta's MC 58/1.4, MD 45/2 and MD 28/2.8 on GFX without hard vignetting. I started with the 50/1.4 as well but I wasn't happy with cropping away that much of the picture..

    • @adamblack9837
      @adamblack9837  Год назад

      You have exactly the same lenses I do.
      I think the 1.4 was vingetting way harder because of how little light there was. Otherwise I can get away with a smaller crop. The 45mm f2 performs better in this regard though.

    • @MrRoRoWe
      @MrRoRoWe Год назад

      @@adamblack9837 I switched from the 50/1.4 to the older 58/1.4, that one is totally vignette-free.
      I have some more Minolta MC/MD lenses, but they all don't work that well with the GFX sensor.

      @@MrRoRoWe Hey bro, do you have MC/MD 100/2.5 or it-like tele lenses? I wonder does it works on GFX system.

    • @MrRoRoWe
      @MrRoRoWe 9 месяцев назад

      @@blaseqq1181 I only have the 135/3.5, that is vignetting like hell.

    Try Canon EF lenses, particularly the 40mm f2.8. Cheap as chips and beautiful images. But at the end of the day it's the content that counts.

    I don't know much about old lenses.. can you do more about them and manual focus with them? have you looked for old medium format lenses?

    • @adamblack9837
      @adamblack9837  Год назад

      Yeah there are some old medium format lenses from companies like Pentax and Mamiya. They’re often just as expensive as a cheap native prime though.
      Ultimately it depends what type of lens you want.
      As for manual focus, you just use focus peaking. The in-focus parts of the image are highlighted in a colour of your choice.

    The Leica R 100mm f2.8 apo macro works as good as the GF120mm f4 macro, and if you want 1:1 macro the Leica is much better, with extension tube or even better with the elpro

    For low light you might look into the new Chinese manual lenses, Mitakon 65/1.4 or 7artisans, ttartisan in M mount, there’s 75/1.25 and 50/0.95, pricy though

    The sensors on both the Fuji X series, are CMOS, like the GFX, which uses a Bayer filter array.

    The GFX sensor is 4 XT-4 X sensors strapped together. So the Fuji recipes work a charm.
