  • Learn about and ride along in a 60’ sixty-five passenger Setra/Eagle articulating bus. For some routes, they were probably the ultimate bus.
Learn why white wall tires on buses didn’t work out well and why you no longer see them on buses today.
See the original single piece Eagle baggage doors. Just think how much room they would take up when opening them, which is not good in a narrow driveway. Bi-fold baggage doors came along later making loading and unloading of luggage easier.
Learn about the original very rare squared off wheel wells in the Eagle 01 built in Belgium. Some later models were high roof buses. Also notice that many of these buses had bi-fold entrance doors which were very popular in intercity buses.
Learn how the lightning bolt design on the side of the Continental buses changed over the years until like Goldilocks, they got it just right.
Trailways was the only company that operated Eagle buses for a long time but eventually other bus companies started buying them for their fleets because they had the smoothest ride in the business and passengers loved them.
In 1969 the model 04s and 05s were being built side by side on the same assembly line. They brought a fresh new look, but only the 05s ever made it to the U.S., while some 04s were snuck into the U.S. via Canada.

Very well done history of EAGLE. Overall unfortunately the rust issues did them in. I know I’m in the minority but I think that 25 would have been a good coach for both conversions and the seated markets.
