    Papa Roach, the band, were friends with Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) and Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave), and too many others. Some in the band have had the struggles of mental health and addiction to battle themselves. They sang their song Scars with Chris Daughtry not too long ago, and I can't even imagine how Chris got through it. He lost his daughter in 2022.

      Healthy way to cope and let all that raw emotion out. Chester bared it all every show and that's why he had such a strong connection with fans.

      @@budsodastories I agree. The reason I said I couldn't imagine how Chris got through Scars, well 1 I am a mom and 2 because of how he lost his daughter. It's gonna hurt no matter what, of course. Music is therapeutic for me, too.

    it's definitely not a typical Papa Roach song. But, the subject matter being what it is, it's very fitting. It's worth exploring more of their harder stuff. They are a great band to catch live also.

    What I would like you to react to is Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach doing a collaboration with The Hu (a Mongolian throat singing band) of "Wolf Totem". I love it!!

    Chester Bennington from Linkin Park and Chris Cornell are a big meaning for this song. I saw Audioslave the last night they performed in Detroit. 😢

    The band's name, Papa Roach, was the result of mixing up the nickname of Jacoby's grandfather from his mother's side -Herbert Fischer "Papa"- and "Roach" coming from his grandfather from his father's side, John “Grandpa” Roatch. Both grandparents were musicians.

    This song hits me to my very core! I am a retired Army Vet and I attempted suicide 7/31/23 and from the Depression, Anxiety and PTSD. I have lost brothers (3 I grew up with) whom I served with and all 4 were by way of suicide from the same mental illness that almost took me out. The 4 have occurred since November and we laid to rest yesterday 😭😭. Mental illness is real and VERY debilitating. I would love it if you could play "A Soldiers Memoir in their memory. We lose 22 vets/day to suicide...Awareness NEEDS to be spread

    lead singer Jacoby Shaddix's grandparents were musicians, the name is how Shaddix and others in the family called them. Papa is from his maternal grandpa Herbert "Papa" Fischer and Roach is a play on his paternal grandpa's surname John "Grandpa" Roatch.

    Im starting to notice that you guys are reacting to bands and artists that are new to you, but starting with ballads more instead of songs that represent their true sound. Im starting to wonder why that is. It gives you guys the wrong impression of some of these more rock and metal based bands and artists. Please try checking out the artists songs that have the most views to get a real idea for their sound. For example, if i was showing a friend Papa Roach for the first time, i would go with Last Resort , which is by far their best known song. I enjoy reactions , but thought id offer some friendly advice.

    • @draguladirt
      @draguladirt 8 месяцев назад +1

      Good advice - start with what made the band famous. This song is nothing like most of their music.

    • @matthewdrake4385
      @matthewdrake4385 8 месяцев назад

      Dragula dirt, it would be like reacting to Guns N’ Roses to the first time and react to November Rain. Great song, but Welcome to the Jungle or Sweet Child o Mine are better starting points.

    • @draguladirt
      @draguladirt 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@matthewdrake4385 OK there will be exceptions - but I still think that would be the minority. I mean I've been listening to Papa Roach since their first album (still have it on CD) but have never even heard of this song. So fair point but this was really obscure.

    I had never heard of this group, but then again, I’m close to 60 yo. That doesn’t negate my serious love of music.
    This song is amazing. It’s powerful. I’m so glad to see groups like this, Shinedown, Godsmack, and Disturbed, trying to take the stigma off mental health. People with depression or anxiety shouldn’t be made to feel they’re broken or “not all there.” We don’t do that to diabetes whose bodies don’t produce enough insulin….so what’s the difference with serotonin.

    You may want to take a look at Roxy Music. "More than This" is a good start. Then "Love is the drug". Perhaps "My only love", "Eight miles high", "Dance away", "Oh Yeah", "To turn you on" and a few others. All of the songs are great. One of the best bands of the 70's and 80's.
