I lived in Mesa for 23 years. I went to a lot of those places, but not all of them are in Mesa. Canyon Lake is about 30 miles from Mesa, but a great place to visit. I remember going there in the 1980's when there was no one there but me and the group I was with. That sure has changed.
Lots of errors in this article. Usery park is not in Mesa, it borders Mesa. Topo is not in Mesa, it’s in Gilbert. There’s not a lot to do in Mesa,it mostly a bedroom community and retirement area for mobile home park types. Downtown Mesa has a few restaurants and one nice museum. The Blue Adobe restaurant is probably the best in town. Cubs spring training is there in March. For a city of a half a million folks, it’s pretty boring.
Best thing to do in Mesa is to GET THE HELL OUT OF MESA. But if you are forced to stay, get high and go for a Mexican grind at El Charro. That place has been there for like 1000 years.
i moved to that central part of town 1980-2012. worked several downtown jobs. cleaning city hall police station many. Mesa Tribune news twice, loading dock nites operations, then cleaning when downsizing. Kiddie kollege day care. but city sold out. investment failed and much cleared with sum nice things but not ok with what lost. i need re visit music store again an play guitar around as sum did on hiway. i still live on same hiway . but 777 miles east....

Why did Long Wongs and Bandersnatches Brew Pup in Tempe leave? College students quit beer and music?
Any of these budget friendly

Also, the lake is not in Mesa, it’s in the Tonto National Forest and Apache Trail is in Apache Junction, not Mesa.
