    The Hokkien, Minnan/Ban-lam, Taiwanese/Taigi, Hoklo/Helou are all the same language roots originated from Fujian Province in China but spoken in different places. The close relative of Hokkien language are Teochew, Hailam, Leizhou language or dialects.

      Many young generation cannot speak Hokkien. Hokkien used to be the Lingua Franca of overseas Chinese in Nanyang till 1970s.

    it's funny, as a chinese filipino from the philippines, who comprehends hokkien when i hear it, i can understand almost 3/4s of the hokkien theyre saying and the equivalent pronunciation and vocabulary we'd use instead in the philippines

    it's rare the younger generation now are able to speak in dialects, especially hokkien, teochew, hakka, etc... most parents choose to speak English with their kids, at this rate, dialects gonna disappear soon...

    This is so not true.....my dad willing to do and give everything to his grandchildren.....even I told him this is not right but he said he is ah gong he know better how to raise baby than us....this is so call 隔代亲.....same goes to when we were young our grandmom always cook the best for us ... worried we are hungry...😂😂..our grandparents is the best... although our parents love us too but love from our grandparents are different....so please forgive them you will know how after you got grandchildren

      How come your surname is Zhang? In Hokkien it should be Teo or Teoh.

    Apart from the meaningful message from the video, Ive hardly see any elderly drinks Milo. In fact most people after 30's dont really touch this junk beverage at all. Cant even imagine serving it to your relatives during CNY 😅.

    Most malaysian Chinese is hokkienese, we should speak more hokkien than Cantonese.

      Johor Hokkien was cannibalised by 'Speak Mandarin Campaign' from Singapore since 1980s. It was Lee Kuan Yew and PAP's campaign to eradicate non Mandarin Chinese.

    I unsubbed from the Jinnyboy, Wongfu, Mingthing crowd years ago when I felt content just wasn’t the same anymore … but I feel like a child again being able to watch shorts that are made for the sake of entertainment, and not for any other agenda (yes I know this is a Milo add… but you know what I mean).     This video reminds me of bf's foster father whom passed away last week. He was the best milo maker in family and all the kids love to ask him make it whenever visited his house. He was actually teaching us how to make the best Milo (with his own recipe), before he went into coma then few weeks later passed away.

      Hokkien dialect originated from Southeast China just across Taiwan Straits. Now mostly spoken by Chinese in Medan Indonesia and Manila Philippines.
