Ethnicity and internal factors - Labelling
- GILLBORN AND YOUDELL - teachers had 'racialised expectations' about black pupils and expected to have to discipline them more. black pupils were more likely to be punished for the same behaviour as white students as well as underestimated
- OLSER - black student suffered more from unrecorded exclusions
- WRIGHT - Asian primary students were stereotyped, assumed they didn't know much English so were spoken to more simplistically, had their names pronounced incorrectly and treated as problems that teachers could ignore
Pupil responses and subcultures
- MIRZA - not all pupils develop coping strategies for teacher labelling. three types of teachers: colour blind racism (all students are equal but racism is challenged), liberal chauvinists (black pupils are culturally deprived), overt racists (black pupils are inferior and actively discriminate)
- SEWELL - 4 main responses to teacher racism: conformity (black pupils accept the values of the school), rebellion (reject the values of the school and create a subculture), retreatism (retreat from school) and innovation (pro-education but anti school)

1944 education act - if you failed the 11+ you'd either go into a secondary modern school OR a technical but technical schools were not very common. Many sociologists have called the 'tripartite' system 'bipartite' for this reason. If you passed you'd go into a grammar school.
Less than 24hrs from the exam itself
This was actually a very good video, it covers all the necessary information with sociologists names & research in a quick amount of time. I got my sociology mock in like 6 hours so hopefully I’ll do well. Thanks for this

Believe me, i'm a really lazy person when it comes to studying, i actually learn very fast etc. But i never had the motivation to actually learn for anything. My exams are coming up in a week or so and i was actually trying to revise and i revised maybe for like 2 hours and i completely gave up. Then i somehow managed to find this channel and it somehow really motivated me, i made revision cards on the topics thanks to this video and now i feel like i will nail the exams.. Amazing job with those videos, keep it up❤️

Is this the 2015 aqa spec? im using the collins textbook and some of the names are different?
isla mcshane yes it is, but often different texts use different names but are usually interchangeable! So you wont lose marks
