  • Credit goes to TypicalSim. I thought I had a corrupted save file. Turns out the game just saves things terribly.
I did this myself and it saved my save. I also noticed a massive boost in performance. The modders are aware and will be working to fix this.
I also will be sharing with the dev's to see if they can fix this in patch 2.
    Cheers!

Just about 20fps, but when I play Forza Horizon 5 it was around 72-109fps

Interesting, can you tell me your system spec too? I have the game and I'm on a minimum spec graphics card. I get 3fps. Which is NOT what I'd expect from minimum spec. In truth I am on a GTX1660Ti rather than a 2060 but KSP doesn't need ray tracing and doesn't use GPU based PhysX so I should be good to go at minimum settings ( minus a few fps ).
Interesting note though - hardware monitor says my GPU is at 100% while playing, BUT neither is it getting hot which is just weird! It maxes at about 60c

      I have a super computer.
      i9-13900k, 4090, and 64GB of DDR5 @ 5600mhz
My gpu is also at 100% utilization while playing but it doesn't get hot either.
The game is simply not optimized well. How it saves files is just one of the ways that directly degrades performance.
Patch 1 made the game playable. Patch 2 should fix some other issues.
It'll take some time but the game will become more stable over time.
      Edit:
Spacewarp.info has the mods for KSP2. The modders have released community fixes which helps the game run a bit better

@@Cvusmo I just tried it again now and I got 20fps in the vab which once can just about live with in a single player game of the KSP type ( it's not boom "headshot" so raw fps is nice but less important ) . But back to 6-7fps on the launchpad and in orbit ( yes I got to orbit! ) .
FYI I am also playing in Linux but that doesn't generally have much of an overhead (if any at all - Thank you Vulkan ). Performance improvement tricks for windows will also work in Linux. So I'm interested in those. But a direct comparison between Windows performance and Linux Performance is fairly pointless. I am just collecting tips to make things generally better. ( Cue some wag saying "Use Windows" ). Proton these days is very good and I am not having to tinker with launch options or game files to get it running other than using Valve's experimental branch of Proton. It just installed and worked.
