- An internal investigation is now underway inside a New Jersey police department, after cops were seen on video breaking locks in a private apartment building without the landlord’s permission. The I-Team's Sarah Wallace reports.
I want an interview with tenants not landlord
Get it. You know the addresses
@@Aliciaekdon't be a dick
The cops are in the right they had permission from the health department. This is why they have NOT sued
sense when does the Health Department give search warrants?
@@johnpaulwebb3440 The need for a search warrant is voided if there is an existential threat to life please see 4th amendment exceptions. The role of the health department and city code enforcers is to preserve the health well being of the citizens. The landlord admits that she got an email 24 hours ahead of time and there had been numerous complaints
@@waynecmontgomery I understand your point, when is a 24 hour notice given in an existential threat? This should been done through the courts.
This landlord may have broken ever rule, code, law in that state and city. This in no way changes the Constitution.
@@johnpaulwebb3440 Every town and state has health codes regarding freezing temperatures and preserving human life. I am also sure the tenants tried calling her before the police. She is a slumlord scamming the system trying to get sympathy
Union City just want the penalty fee of $500 daily.... be sure that money is not for the tenant.
These cops were following orders.
Who gave the order should be the subject of the investigation.
It's real easy to tell the tenants from the landlords in this comment section.
Her rights ? what about her tenants ?
Trying to freeze your tenants to save money is not a Constitutional right!
Yes it is . That's was the reason why it was did
The police broke in because tenants were in danger, families with their children were freezing, interviewing the tenants without the landlord knowing who they are will tell the true story!
They were there early and the temperature inside was 68.
Stop lying @@Aliciaek
@@ElJibaro718 ???? Troll.?
As someone who has worked in Union City for over 20 years, if it’s not over 80 degrees F it’s freezing cold for most of the residents. Don’t believe me ? Think I’m being insensitive or prejudiced go visit one of homes/apartments and tell me it’s not hot enough to give you swamp @ss with a side of heat stroke
Gee, Union City PD breaking their oaths. You don’t say.
Did they fix the heating problems?
The cops are in the right they had permission from the health department. This is why they have NOT been sued
@@waynecmontgomeryI don't think you listened to the interview clearly.

@@waynecmontgomerylike I said you hear what you want to hear. If you watch the video again and listen closely she received the email the SAME EXACT DAY the police broke into her place on 10/31
@@clayfurious4765 That does NOT change the law.
So if one of the tenants freezes to death would you be calling out the police for not doing something??? Crying shame that reporter today don’t tell the entire story! 🤔🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Who's policing the police ?
Yeah cause that basement is illegal they had it hidden behind a door then another door
Not all basement are illegal in Union City.😊
the ladlord has the video to prove that it was 68 degrees. you can't free with that temperature. the cops had no business breaking into that apartment. they harass the law abiding people. they need to spend more time after the criminals.
Lies lies does buildings in NY be all jack up!!!
Lady you live in NJ thats a police state
Brian Stack, comments?
Miss your not a good landlord. Walking into a building and taking a temp isn't the correct way.. people can be using the oven to heat up the apartments which will then keep the hallways warm
It was Trick or Treat!!!😂😂😂
nice try with showing the temp on the phone...it was picking up your body heat.
We know who own the building they do this every building thy own
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh payola ohhhhh payola
Tenants were complaining for lack of heat, police aren’t doing anything wrong .
You're sure about that?
Lmao that lady is lying 🤥
Hard to freeze at 68😂
Hold them accountable.
My god don’t blame these officers why doesn’t these people have their own heat. I believe these landlords are crooked.!
Her right to keep tenants freezing?
Shame on you cops that destroy door Property.
Are you here legally??
Be quite 🤫
@nahkurki1971 What type of stupid question is this? Are you that stupid..!
I will never stay silent about it 💯!
This is the problem with police they believe they're above the law.
Sue sue sue
Laws for thee not for me
Investigate the landlord please
Arrest the landlord
Does she even have papers to own the building ???
She should be investigated don’t
What about the tenants safety
Like what if someone was locked cops have to break in
This lady looking for a payday
Your illegal your being abusive and unlawful against tenants safety
She’s definitely getting talked into getting money outta this
What do you mean does
she even have papers
to own the building?
The Mayors cousin is a plumber and needs the business.
Landlord has pics, but there's multiple on site witnesses reporting unsafe conditions. This needs more looking into.
Landlord’s lie she probably put the heat up a little bit just to get that reading and then it broke down again I lived in an apartment building like that that’s why I owe my own home now
As a landlord, ppl make complaints and try to withhold rent all the friggin time.
Everyone lies. That's why I check receipts. There arw ways to cut through the noise.
Oh my the nerve of the landlord being so insulted! Ha!😆😅😂
No one absolutely no one have rights to your apartment not even the Landlord unless it's an emergency. Laws have been broken. Stop entering People's apartments unauthorized you're committing a crime
Cops were trying to access the basement in apt building. Why? B'cuz the landlord wouldn't give her tenants enough HEAT! Nobody's apt got broken into 😐
@rickyb533 The building is this woman's private property the police clearly broke the law
@clayfurious4765 you must be slum lord.
New York City does this too when the temperature goes below a certain amount. If a building does not have heat the will break into the building's basement in order to get the boiler running.
thats not true i live in nyc and if a tenant doesn't have heat they will call into the city hot line which is 311 and file a complaint for no heat . The landlord is contacted and in hopes they will look into the heat issue some times they do some times they don't
@@letrice2892 NYC HPD issues an emergency work order and starts the work. The landlord gets billed for the work.
@@JakeSDNno they don't.
Landlord is full of it! Unfortunately, they got the cops on a technicality, and as usual, the poor bastards w/no heat will lose & suffer 😐
Lack of an ideal amount of
heat during winter months
is not an immediate life
threatening emergency.
Police usually refer
those complaining about
heat and other maintenance
issues to other government
agencies, like the state
dept. of health etc. and the
result is a lot of waiting and getting the run-around. So it
is true that the police
had no legal reason to
break locks in this
case and they should be
sued.
Uc police suck honestly never call them for anything 😂
Yall do understand if they are breaking into your place you can exercise your 2nd amendment rights. You do know they can’t just do what they are doing. It’s time citizens start fighting back
But shame on the landlady for not providing heat to her tenants. They must have been complaining about it. It is her responsibility to provide them with heat 24/7. She should be fined.
Nothing to investigate, don ya see the video.
Where is the landlord
Did you not watch the video?
Yeah, I watched a video
@jasonsmith3336 You didnt watch the video? It was the spainish lady they interviewed
Under the Bill of Rights and the laws of probable cause to protect life these officers serve and protect and if they feel those lives are in danger. The slumlords believe that they own everything and they can do as they please there is no consequences here in the United States this has to be dealt with. I'm with the civil servants that are serving and protecting not the slumlords and people that think they own and they can do as they please nobody has the right to answer that property this is not their country this is our country the United States of America and where they got the money to buy all the things they have I want to know just like the people.
You're a rambling idiot.
SOCIALIST 🥶🥶
typical cheap stingy landlord, trying to save a few dollars on freezing her tenants and yet she's complaining. they should sue her .
if the slumlord had heat for her tenants there would have been no need to go in . the law requires the cops to do this to ensure people dont freeze
and please go get a better expert to put on that actually knows what he is talking about thats embarrassing for you
