I had been in SA two decades ago and traveled to CT via PE, garden routes to CT. In SA normally shops open at 0800 n close sharp 1800 hrs n on Saturday half day n Sunday complete close. Two decades ago PE was very clam and quite as compared to Joburg. I am also remembering that time through your vlogs. Very good coverage Abrar❤

Two years ago I visited San Francisco and drive through Oakland downtown area which was looted during riots in 2020 . It was completely vacant and like a ghost town. All the buildings were vacant and boarded .

Working hours in South Africa are from 7:00 to 17:00 so its very normal that everything close at in town at 17:00 on week days. Don't be surprised when you see the CBD emty after 17:00

Abrar Bhai - You should have stayed in Summerstrand in Port Elizabeth. There are a number of halaal options. The town is quite lively and safe too.
Some down towns or CBD's as you call them are purely for commercial/office purposes. The surrounding suburbs provide a cheaper and higher quality of life so people choose to live there. This is usually not the case in Europe where CBD's have a residential component to them. Arriving at a commercial CBD after office hours will definitely give you the vibe that it's abandoned. You are definitely right, at night such CBD's are unsafe but it's not like the CBD was abandoned due to crime. In the US downtowns of major cities like Houston and even LA are like that. Laga rai Abrariya!
