    Honestly bro it takes a lot of practice. But once you get the hang of it it's awesome and also go to a lighter line

  • @gabrielsierra6890

    The problem is water refraction; The fish is actually closer than where you see it, so you need to shoot a fish body closer to your position because the refraction causes you to see it further away. If you shoot directly, you will be missing him by, like I said, a fish body.

      He regularly bowfishes. He's used to refraction

    You need a Tim Wells .625 he's got some of the best blow dart guns in each caliber

      That’s what I was using in this video, lol! I’ll just stick with my bow.

    It took me approximately 50 shots before I figured it out just shoot low

    • @bayoubanditcharters
      @bayoubanditcharters  7 месяцев назад

      I don’t think that was the issue. I bow fish a lot, and know to shoot low. It just seems like the dart stops as soon as it penetrates the water? It preforms great on land. Maybe I need to use smaller braid?

    It was funny. Like watching Huckleberry Hound aiming wr’aong without taking refraction into consideration. Thanks for posting.

    • @bayoubanditcharters
      @bayoubanditcharters  2 года назад

      Lol, not the case brother, I bow fish all the time and run bow fishing charters. The arrows were not penetrating far enough in the water, didn’t know if the braided line was to large or me not having enough pressure behind the darts. Several times I had a scale on the dart tip.

    Lighter line. Best is 30lbs for that blowgun. Plus most of the species I've seen taken with one are Gar, carp, and catfish. Slower fish that swim more shallow at night. Too many people are having success with it. Maybe just a learning curve and practice

  • @kaylamarie8309
    @kaylamarie8309 2 года назад +1

    Probably just takes practice. Tim Wells takes lots of fish with these guns. Bet it would be awesome on frogs.

  • @johnburns8213
    @johnburns8213 2 года назад +2

    Awesome video man. Alot of fun to watch. I would go with 20lb. braid and make sure to use the law of refraction......AIM A LITTLE BELOW THE FISH, just as you would if you were using a bow.

  • @Jazzberrytpt1
    @Jazzberrytpt1 Год назад +1

    You have to aim lower like in bowfishing. But it takes more practice. It is harder. But once you get it, you'll catch tons.

  • @speakes03
    @speakes03 2 года назад +2

    the problem is light refraction, research it, you have to aim lower than your target. youtube has videos on how to aim a blowgun or bow to successfully hit your fish. the deeper the fish is the lower you have to aim. its a lot of fun and dont give up.

    • @bayoubanditcharters

      Lol, I bow fish all the time! I wasn’t missing, the dart was not penetrating the fish.

    I did the same thing but once I learned about light refraction it was a whole new ball game, FISH ON!

  • @papabearoutdoors2393
    @papabearoutdoors2393 Год назад

    Brother, you need to aim under where you think the fish appear to be. >The refraction of the light in the water is messing your aim up. Your dart, most of the time, is sailing right over them. Also, try emersing the tip of the blowgun under the water on the deeper shots. The cone on the blowgun darts acts like a paarachute when it hits the water.

  • @bronco51256
    @bronco51256 Месяц назад

    Are you accounting for refraction in the water? You have to aim lower depending on how deep the fishes do you have to shoot below him or you can put a laser on your blow gun and aim directly at the fish

    • @bayoubanditcharters
      @bayoubanditcharters  Месяц назад

      I run bow fishing charters and shoot I lot of fish with compound bows, light refraction wasn’t the issue. It just doesn’t penetrate well in the water

      When all else fails, look to your left, look to your right, if there are no rangers in sight, toss a handful of corn out, wait for the carp to come. Once they come, shove a kernel or 2 in the middle of a froot loop (yes, the cereal) and toss that out. It floats long enough for the carp to come up and eat it… helps with penetration as well as the refraction factor. Only carp or invasive species tho 😅

    I have one and I use power pro v2 super8slick 20lb line with it. Really makes a difference and shoots smooth. I was using spiderwire ez braid 30lb. And it wasent working well at all. That power pro line is pricey but it did the trick with my fish hawk.

  • @Cornstarch117
    @Cornstarch117 2 года назад +1

    I'm not completely sure but I'm pretty sure you're supposed to aim lower than you would on a bow because the dart isn't as long as an arrow. And the cap of the dart affects the way it penitrates the water. But again I could be totally wrong.

    Sorry to here about the bad experience you had with the blowgun. Using a blowgun is a wonderful experience for me. It is not a hard thing to do. It takes practice, shooting at targets. You will need to learn how to blow to shoot the dart out. There is a lot of videos on how to use one. Tim Wells dose very well using a blowgun. And some of his videos you can learn how he dose it. I know my post is late and I hope you see it. Like shooting any type of gun, bow and blowgun. It takes some skill to learn.

    Hey man loved this video. I don’t think you were doing anything wrong in particular. I think the barb might be too big to shoot at fish that are deeper than a foot of water. Maybe flounder should be the target.
    I would love to come out with you one night to redemo this product once flounder are more abundant.
