Great content on proper heat control. Injection pouring and open pouring are a completely different process and I see so many not understanding proper temp control when using open pour molds. Great video man🤙
Thank You Chris for another amazing FREE hand pouring seminar.. These are so valuable to the community. I hope everyone has their notepads out. Thank you Goby-Wan Kenobi, You're our only hope...
I swear every time I watch your videos I learn 15 new things. Such great content. I went the “cheap” way to try and get into the hobby to make sure I was going to like it and got a FusionX kit with the stone (I think?) molds and I tried 20 times and couldn’t get it to fill, kept shooting hollow. So I gave up and bought a few silicon hand pours I’m waiting to arrive. Maybe you could do a series on testing/demonstrating the “starter kits” on the market? I would think (hope 🤣) I’m not the only one who couldn’t figure out the starter kits. Stay warm!
Very informative Chris! I really enjoyed learning about how the baits are put together and how the chemical bonding works. I feel it will help me identify baits that were made that didn’t get the correct temperature for the bonding to occur. You are an exceptional instructor who maintains professionalism in your teachings.
Thanks for that. Great demo. Especially liked the ripple caused by blowing on the plastic. That’s a pro tip that is so simple! Awesome production as usual!
Great video, very informative for a beginner with the open pour molds. Totally different game then injection molds, just got some open pour ribbon tail molds, cant wait for temps here in Nebraska to rebound a little. Been negative 25 plus for 4 days now. Keep the content coming.
Great video. Im just getting into the open pour game. I bought a cheap walmart griddle. Maybe it will work for a while. I have an AI open pour action worm that will be here in a few days. Im ready to try it out. As always thanks for your great info. 😉
Excellent explanation!! I was actually working on a video of such. But my video got corrupted when uploading. Great work Chris!! As of now im "on to the next bait"
Dammmmn...I'd be passed if I lost footage like that...but yeah, proper temperature pouring is where 99% of bait makers fall short...even experienced veterans..gotta set em straight
Great video, it cleared up some things for me. I may have missed it in the video but was wondering at what temperature do you get your plastisol to before you pour?
Great video!!! Laundry noise makes me laugh😂 every time your videos wouldn't be the same without! I take pride in my work and try to follow your directions to a T. How much does room temp affect the baits? I know if they cool to fast you will have issues.
Great videos love your channel.... I am almost there with pouring my own soft baits thanks to you. Question what effect would you get if you dry brushed the mould with color shift powder or holographic powder before you pour it?
In Australia we can’t get the grills you can in the states. The only one I could get was a teriyaki grill. It’s the only one I could find that was flat without any grilling side. Loved the video
Good video would like to know what the temp of the molds are on top just for curiosity sake. I know 212 is boiling so obviously its at least that but just to get a better pinpoint idea.
Couple questions. Is there a preferred room temp to allow the baits to setup during the cooling process? And are you pouring each layer with the same temperature in your plastic? Thanks Chris. Keep up the good work!
2nd question. When you do your technique of pouring a small amount in the mold then spill it mostly out. Are you still using a boiling temp mold during this process?
Hi Chris, been injecting for a few years. Just got my first hand pour molds per request of a customer. He wants mainly single color finesse worms and fish Dr or French fry style baits. No swim baits yet. Is temp management just as critical on these simpler style baits. Learned so much from you. No rush to answer still 50° too cold to go to the garage in MO. LOL.
AWESOME!!! Thanks man!! Was hoping something like this would show up. Weather....hell come up here and feel some -50° ....yeah it sucks 😂 Will any of the addatives change how the platics bond? Like say a certian color needs to be hotter to bond vs another color?
Does this technique apply to silicone moulds? Me and my friend are starting up a small locale business and the majority of our moulds are silicone and have open tops. In the video you did say this applies to the metal ones Im just not sure and I don’t want to mess up the lures
Good morning my friend happy fishing 🎣 Tuesday I always enjoy seeing you making your soft plastic swim baits I have a request can you please do a orange sofa plastic swim baits with black glitter I will send you the picture of the soft plastic I would like to try some of your soft plastic swim baits 🎣👍
I have a question: Do you have to coat soft plastic lures in something so they don't dry up because I have some when they are out of the packing, they get dry and flake
How long do you let it sit after pouring the first layer, everytime I try when it's up to temperature even after letting it sit for a while it just mixes and doesn't go on top
So i bought a electric griddle but at the moment i am only injecting do i still need to put the molds on the hot plate or is this simply for open pours? I was looking for some clarigication but you never mentioned that if this was strictly for open pouring.
@mattwinans7418 lol I pointed you to the answer did I not? If I had just replied "I pour the dots" you might have had a follow up question, or asked for clarification..I've gotten the dot question many hundreds of times, and it's always best answered by showing someone a demonstration. Regardless, take care 👍
Could you please provide information on where to purchase the tile featured in the video, its approximate weight, and its full name? I live in Europe and may need to search for it by its name if I'm unable to purchase it in the United States.
How about a video showing how you warm up the plastisol to not have any bubbles? Nuke it, let the bubbles rise and sit, then nuke again? I’m sure it’s not that easy. Haha
Someone please help! I love making baits but I can’t do I properly! My baits turn sticky and don’t come out of the mold! I don’t know what to do! I have wasted so much plasticol.
this is why i leave the hand pouring to the pros and i do the injection baits lol im not at all that great at this as is but the injection i am phenomenal at
Do you see any bait fish Have any straight lines on them They do not have straight lines. That's why you want to make your soft plastic bait. The same way as a real bait fish. What you see in water. Or in your bait live well tank
Of course... But look at the lateral line on many species of forage fish... The vein colorr we do as bait makers mimics that..and you want even & smoothe application of color..the results speak for themselves
@@WorldsWorstFishing is there any real proof on actually catching fish? That would be a great resource to read up on. Your work is amazing looking, but as a for-self-silicone-open-pour-guy I question if the level of consistency/straightness, exact hue, etc. makes much difference in use. General color, layers, sure. I feel it is likely a lot more to catch the fisherman than the fish. But as a baitmaker/seller no doubt your level of quality is required. Looks great!
@timbridwell4954 in order to catch the fish you must first catch the fisherman...so why would that be a bad thing? A bait is only as good as the level of confidence an angler has in it...so why wouldn't a bait maker do the best job he or she could? 👍
@@WorldsWorstFishing I'm not dissing your process at all, you sell these, I would expect this level of quality. As a private maker, I just doubt that level is really important when it comes to catching fish. As long as it stays laminated, has close to bait colors and action, then its all good. Best a silicone guy can do is different than best a cnc aluminum guy can do. 👍
@@WorldsWorstFishing looks like I need a trip to the mountains to go ice fishing and warm up. Ironically it’s warmer sitting out on a frozen reservoir right now.

Can you shoot the top of the molds with the infrared temp gun, instead of the spittest?
Probably...but if they ain't boiling we aren't pouring
Careful using the infrared temp gun on aluminum molds. The aluminum can reflect the beam and give you an inaccurate temp reading
