As an American, I can tell you this lady had no interest in promoting anything other than the NATO talking point. Of course negotiation means compromises on both sides. If at the end of the negotiation both sides walked out unhappy, it means they got a fair deal. Every Ukrainian I talked to about this subject behave like babies.
China gave peace plan and trying to stop the fight. Ukraine might dream they can defeat Russia so that it refused to do any negotiation. Let them continue fighting until they all tired or can't afford fight. EU would better position themselve for long haul. Three year, five years, or 50 years.
