Dénia is a historical coastal city in the province of Alicante, Spain, on the Costa Blanca halfway between Alicante and Valencia.
Denia's historical heritage has been influenced by Iberian, Greek, Roman, Islamic, Napoleonic and Christian civilizations.
Port de Dénia
The town has one of the most important ports and marinas in the region with a large fishing fleet and ferry connections to Ibiza and Majorca.
Castle of Dénia
It was built in the 11th and 12th century and offers views around the sea, the city and the surrounding area. Located in the castle is the Palau del Governador and its corresponding museum.
Dénia beaches
Dénia has one of the longest beaches of the Costa Blanca, No less than 18 km long! Of this, 14 km comprise sandy beaches in northern direction and 4 km of rocky coast (Las Rotas) in the south.
Els Magazinos
Gastronomic and cultural market.
More than twenty stalls in 2,000 m2 of spaces, where you can find restaurants and market stalls, in which you bet on the culinary tradition and the product of proximity.
Temporary exhibition hall, craft market, live music and other events.
Cuisine
The local cuisine of Denia is typically that of the Costa Blanca, which combines delicacies from both land and the Mediterranean Sea. Many civilizations have lived in this area (Celts, Iberians, Greeks, Romans, Muslims), all of which have all left their mark on the gastronomy.

I can understand how changes over the years may have altered the charm you remember from your childhood holidays. It's not uncommon for popular destinations to evolve due to tourism. Thanks for sharing your perspective! 🏖️👣
If as tourists you complain about excess tourism, imagine the terrible pressure that putting up with the tourist invasions puts on the population of Denia.
