  • This week we look back at pop culture, fashion, and of course, iconic reality TV in the early 2010s. I talk about the changing fashion trends and cultural attitudes in the late 2000s and early 2010s and the impact Jersey Shore had on had on myself and my college-age friends when it premiered in late 2009. I also reminisce on some of my favorite memories of watching the show and count down my top 5 favorite Jersey Shore memories.

I graduated from college in 2010. My entire wardrobe at this time consisted of burnout t-shirts, Sinful branded anything and True Religion jeans. I wore my hair flat ironed to death with a mini bump either down or in a ponytail. What a time to be alive 😂

I was just graduated and working SO MANY hours at a terrible job that should have been done by two people, but it was a recession. I watched Jersey Shore and I laughed at them, but man, I was really envious too! It was such escapism from the fact that none of us were really doing what we wanted to be doing at the time!

I graduated high school in 2010 and started working at American Eagle that fall and I remember I was ALWAYS talking about Jersey Shore to my coworkers 😂

2008 for me was clean lines, jewel tones, structured clothing, layers, flowy dresses (inspired from Middle East). Classics that I still like to incorporate in my clothes, unlike the current trend of bulky, shapeless fashion which make our bodies look all box like.

I was born in 2000 and had been curious about Jersey Shore ever since it gained popularity and one day in 2014, I was bored and I decided to watch it. Best decision I ever made !

A couple of fun facts: 1. There's a South Park episode that makes fun of Jersey Shore (and a few other Jersey shows), call It's a Jersey Thing. Some of the Jersey Shore people were animated into it. 2. I believe the movie Jennifer's Body is based a true crime case. 3. Sammi from Jersey Shore graduated from my school a year after me.

I feel like around this time that every song was like a club mix of some sort as well. I mean it is my favorite genre to listen to.

Also Snooki wasn't literally looking for the beach right beside her. If you notice on the boardwalk there's a fence between the boardwalk and the beach and there's a couple gates down the boardwalk that are open during beach hours that basically let you into the beach and thats what she was looking for was basically where to get into the beach

One of the most savage burns I’ve ever received to date was in 2009. I was in the navy, freshly out of bootcamp. A friend of mine decided to ask me, loudly, why I “dressed like Beck”.
For you youngins comin up now, Beck is a musician that was extremely popular back in the early aughts.

@3:55 - 2009 was a big transitional year -- you can say that again! my first born came in March 2009, 15 days before my 22nd birthday.
.... that same kid, starts _high school_ in August now!!!!! 😭😭 (he just finished summer school to get his P.E. credits outta the way so technically hes began h.s. already😭)
Love any & all of ykur videos/shorts. You're in my exact age frame. Imnsure you said it b4, imnsure ive even seen it a few times b4 - but what year didnyou graduate h.s.? 04 or 05? I was 05. Born in 87.
I still cant believe my kid is entering the high school i graduated from..already.
Also, that free streaming app Pluto Tv, has all the shows we grew up on watching from the 90-00's. Some have their own channel dedicated to strictly that show. Like One Tree Hill. The original 90210. All kinds of stuff. Its a good app for being free actually.
Hopw you have an amazing (&safe) 4th of July! ❤🤍💙🎆✨

The funny thing about the big toe argument is that they weren't fighting prior to that. They were like playfully ripping on eachother and laughing cause Sam was sitting backwards in the cab cause she was so drunk and Sam called Ron a stumpy bastard and that's when Ron said she had a doorstop Fred Flintstone big toe. So that was the only thing they were fighting about was the Big Toe comment. And I quote "WITH YOUR DOORSTOP BIG TOE" At least 4x a week.
