Thanks so much for sharing this! This puts things into perspective better than reading the signs in the harbor or watching the news accounts as it happened. Wow..... just wow.....

I didn't even know that occured. It should have made national news. Guess Japan was more dramatic coverage. This country's news coverage has gone down the tubes.

We are used to seeing some poor camera work on RUclips, but even so this guy should not be given any video equipment....

They could certainly use some locks here in Crescent City... maybe they could afford it if the 'good ole boys' running our city weren't wasting millions on the sewer deal and other corruption! No doubt they could have! It was my mother's uncle RoyRook who showed the army corps of engineers how to properly construct the levy. Think there will be better fishing now with less boats out?
Well awesome footage. I made one on shore at 8x speed, on my channel.

No Doubt !! I mean, it's not like this Camera Man is in one of them Boats. One more thing. Did anybody else notice the LATE, LATE Siren Whaling at around 6:18.. That's their warning time,,, almost 6 1/2 minutes in ???? I wonder how long it takes after someone dials 911 out there.. lol.. I haven't read too far into the Comments below so I don't know if anyone else mentioned the sirens.

+Tim “Blacky” Black I hear 911 in that area generally waits until they read about it in the paper, before dispatching help. 😄

+Tim “Blacky” Black actually, our tsunami system is good here. it does not go off 6 minutes after its hit. it goes off as soon as they get word of a tsunami heading our way

I guess the guy filming is the same guy that's flying the helicopter.......the hand is WAY to shaky.....had to give it a thumbs-down.

Don't know about that. Pilots generally have to be warrant officers or commissioned officers. A petty officer is an enlisted man or non-commissioned officer (equivalent of a sergeant). If he wasn't flying, then he's one of the worst cameramen ever. Stevie Wonder coulda done a better job!

this is silly, some boats knocking around in the harbor and everyone runs around screaming? Hawaii was far more affected than this town was, and nobody there is whining.

This town was hit by a bad tsunami that ruined city blocks back in 1964. That is why people here were freaking out about it. Thankfully it only did damage to our harbor. But it was very costly. And we are a fishing town so alot of people rely on the harbor.

This town was hit by a tsunami that destroyed city blocks back in 1964. That is why people were freaking out because we are prone to tsunami's. This was a smaller tsunami and thankfully the harbor was the only thing damaged. But we are a fishing town and rely on the fishing industry. A lot of people were affected by it.

since san fran is so close to the shore if it gets hit directly a tsunami will occur and effect hawaii.
