So happy I got my car in 2024. The next couple of years are going to be a mess. I predict a few less brands, and a lot of mergers. Great content and thank you for fair and honest reporting.
The show is becoming a daily watch for me. Besides being a long-term car nut, the economics aspect of the reporting is valuable to see if major upsets to national and global economies are looking more likely. Like an airbag in a car crash, it may not save me, but at least I'll get a few seconds to figure out what hit me.
If the EU auto industry is worried about irreparable damage to their industry, maybe they should have invested in not damaging the environment as much?
I don't feel bad for the car manufacturers and the unions. They have dug their own graves. I do sympathize with all the workers that are going to be affected.
You can't not feel bad for the unions and at the same time feel bad for the workers. The unions represent the workers and help collectively bargain for better wages and conditions.

If you think car markers are in trouble now because of EVs and China, just wait a year or two until autonomous vehicles take off in volume. A single autonomous vehicles takes the place of 5 regular vehicles so in terms of volume car markers will see the market shining by 2-3x(!!!) over the next 3-10 years. Any car maker that won’t offer autonomous vehicles will just go under.
@@taniabanes4707 1. Waymo now has more autonomous rides in San Francisco than Lyft and is expending to 10 more cities in 2025 2. There are at least 2-3 more companies in advanced stages of deploying autonomous fleets 3. Tesla is about to launch in Austin in June. It might be delayed a bit but once that's successful, it can VERY rapidly expand to more cities as Tesla's FSD is much easier to scale across many cities (doesnt need premapping and Tesla already has data for pretty much all streets in major cities). Teslas plan is to be available in most major cities by the end of 2026. Driving FSD v13 for the last few months (or more correctly v13 driving me), it does 99% of my miles at this stage and the remaining 1% (parking etc) is not required for an autonomous fleet. I did SF->LA->SF + lots of driving in LA. FSD v13 did ALL of the driving. All of it. I didin't have to take over even once. Not once. It worked well, safe and super comfortable. The only driving I did was 100ft at one supercharger stop (for lunch, both ways) and at the hotel parking lot structure. That's it. I didn't say it would happen tomorrow, but it would definately happen in the next 2-3 years with significant impact to car makers as this expands and as many families will shift from having 2 cars (or more) to having a single vehicle (and no vehicles in large cities).
Autonomous vehicles will take a long time to become a viable threat. Not only volume but also regulation and people’s preference. Maybe household might go from owning 2 cars to 1 car but never zero if they have the means to afford it
Just yesterday he made fun of Tesla because of lower profit and sales. Today, he said ALL car companies were in trouble. The only reason Tesla had lower profit is because they are spending BILLIONS on A.I. and robot developement. Are any of the other car companies doing that.
He wasnt making fun of Tesla. He was reporting news. No other car company aside from Tesla has a terrible anti-social character in place to prevent sales. I have an early Tesla and wouldnt consider any product from them in the future.

Come on Trump get those tariffs going. Those greedy auto manufacturers shouldn’t have taken our jobs elsewhere. I would never buy a car made in Mexico anyways.
Why should Bosch absorb tariff. Don't give in to the bully.
Flexis shows how excellent automotive design can be, kudos to the team.
The new Renault 5 looks really good too. Might be time to bring them back to the States.
Car sales are down, but traffic still sucks

Great Show.
I see Flexis and I think it would look better as a Canoo design.

Not Tesla! 😂 OEMs didn’t listen… 😂they deserve what the free market gives them.
And yet, the Kirkhorn distorted OpMargins are still lower than GM. Looks like Tesla needs some Mary Barra.
@ Tesla would be dead in a day with Barra at the helm. She doesn’t even know what cathode is. (true story)…

No auto maker that make EVs has a reasonably priced EV sports car. None!
Almost every EV would qualify as a sports car from a couple of decades ago performance standard

Model 3 Performance is equivalent to BMW M3 for $20k+ less.
@@2cartalkers I also like manual transmissions, but you'll have a hard time finding that in an EV.

Trump is great when it comes to threats and negotiating. The Tarrifs on Mexico and Canada have been pushed back a month now.
We're still waiting for Mexico to pay for that wall....
