I have a Victorinox Maverick quartz chronograph (still a very handsome and well built watch) that does have the pushers on the right side. Not sure why they would have reversed them on the Air Boss Mechanical, and I agree they are much more convenient on the right side. I note however that the second hand complication on my watch is at the 3:00 position, with the minute and hour hands of the chronometer at 9 and 6 o'clock, respectively, so the basic geometry of the face is different - I wonder if this relates at all to where the pushers need to be. I disagree about knurling the pushers though, I think smooth pushers are less likely to be depressed accidentally if caught on your clothing, for example, while the smooth ones are pretty easy to operate with a straight push.
High readability including large numerals, high luminescence, actual numbers at time indexes, date presentation, two time zones, simplicity, high quality, style. Most pilot watches are too complicated with unused functions; dials are way too busy. Only a student pilot would calculate his TAS on a watch. A rotating bezel as on diver watches would be nice for timing things, like waiting for a hotel van or hard boiling eggs.
Will we see your collection sometime? Not all of it, but maybe just the ones you have enjoyed after some use and maybe have new opinions about things in them? Or have you planned more like an pure segmented reviews only?
That's a great question and one I have been thinking about for a few days actually. I'll probably do a collection review in a couple weeks. Thanks for the reminder.
I love a heavy stainless watch with steel bracelet just a little loose so I can feel it slide this is a very nice piece, but at that price there is a lot of other selections I would make first
hello MAVSDAD...I dont konw why but I am really curious to know whats there into your collection..If you dont mind can you please do a review on your personal collection

Good review as always (still waiting on lug-to-lug distance in the spec ;p ). I think my biggest issue with this watch is that price - there is a lot of serious competition at that price range.
The sharpness on the lugs is also on the INOX. I have the INOX quartz and I HAD the mechanical. Sent the mechanical back; too HEAVY and the unbroken corners in the lugs is just laziness in manufacturing. The lug would dig into my pisiform bone. The band had to be extremely tight just to hold the watch in place. In this day and age, it does NOT have to be that heavy. A good watch should be under 150 gr otherwise the band won't hold it in place. Bad thing about that black oxide is it ALWAYS will wear off... The reason the buttons are on the left is so they do not DIG into your wrist. That's also why the one right knob is at 45deg. It's a stopwatch and stopwatches DO have the start button where this watch has it! Either the lighting is poor, or the outer bezel numbers are not really very easy to see!
Listen, I know slide rules are obsolete. But so are mechanical watches. Haven’t you ever opted for the “old fashioned way” just because you can? Doesn’t it make you feel like MacGyver to know, deep down, that you can do math after the SHTF? And let’s put hypotheticals and imagination aside; takin the time to learn how to use a slide rule for its own sake is a very empowering and enlightening experience, transforming your watch from a redundant piece of flash into the most sophisticated wrist-top clockwork toy ever made! No one care if you do math with your smartphone, but everyone ooohs and aaaahs when you perform the logarithmic witchcraft that is operating a slide rule.
6:30 REALLY,? just the opposite for me, my natural instinct is to reach over the top of the watch as if i'm holding the watch between index and thumb and press that button...thats how i normally do it when the watch is off the wrist so this feels GREAT.
+MAVERICK WATCH REVIEWS I know my friend but with the same money what do you think that most people will choose? Victorinox all we know is a perfect brand BUT not a big name for watches...I didnt say that is a bad watch but it hasn't competitive price to other famous brands :-)
@@georgehiphopforever They more than make up for not being a big watch maker (to Maverick) by using the excellent ETA 7750 movement and casing it in a tougher than a tank housing. It also has 25 jewels (it is the modern version, I looked it up) which says a lot about the watch complexity. So, it gives a pretty good bang for the buck. Then again, you can always incrementally creep up the extra mile for the Tudor, the Breitling, Omega, and then the Rolex Daytona and so fourth, but you'll have to consult with your budget. My ten cents; it's a great middle-of-the-roader. I'm seriously considering it
You know that someones audience is mostly Americans... When you need to explain, how "military time" works...🤦 Rest of the world... Just calls it da time..🤣
I own Omega watches. They AREN'T that far ahead of the Victorinox or Hamilton for that matter. They are all part of the swatch group Sener S. I'm not sure if you're a watch snob or just that ignorant. The Omega is NOT 3 to 5 times the price better.
Its perfect, use your right hand to operate the slide rule and it wont cover the watch, start the stopwatch with your indexfinger and stop it with ur thumb, same thing.
Victorinox shows that a quality Swiss watch doesn't have to be over priced.Great watch and great review.
Agreed! I am actually selling mine by the way :)
For a flyback Valjoux with quick set date the price is actually great. And they are notorious for being tanks.
WOW just saw their website. On the gray market they are 1100$, or less brand new.
I'm actually selling mine too.

It's a great watch for sure.
Or timing switching fuel tanks, setting a reminder for a next radiocall, or a rendez vous with that hot hostie in the back.
Thanks Mav's Dad. Keep the pilot watches coming.
I sure will try :) Any particular watches you're interested in seeing reviewed?
Definitely a nice watch but I agree with you on wishing the chronograph buttons where on the opposite side of watch .

I second that! You tend to review watches that I like and/or own, so I'm curious to what your collection looks like.
Well thanks. I will definitely get something together in the next couple of weeks. I just don't want it to come off as bragging ya know?
yeah!
Awesome, thank you! I have no doubt there will be many Seikos, ha ha.
I love a heavy stainless watch with steel bracelet just a little loose so I can feel it slide this is a very nice piece, but at that price there is a lot of other selections I would make first
it is very expensive considering what's out there.
O my god I love this watch...
It is very cool :)

Wish granted!

Uggghhhh. You and your lug-to-lug measurements...lol. I'll see what I can do in the future :)
Yes, i know i am annoying, but i have tiny wrist and that is important to me. :)
Thanks in advance, mate... and keep up the good work!
Tiny wrist huh??? Don't tel the ladies that :)
Just so I am clear, this is fully automatic, there is no battery at all in there? Not even for the lighting function or the stopwatch function?
Just tell the world how good feeling
on your own hand
See if you can get ahold of some armourlite watches for review I think you'll like them ( stainless w stainless bracelet)
I reached out to them a few days ago and nothing back yet...fingers crossed :) They look pretty decent,
Do Swiss and Germans wear watches on the right? That could explain the knob positions.
Left!

The same company that makes the little Swiss Army knives? Do they actually assemble their watches? The movement?

Yeah REALLY...lol.
I really the look of it! Nice review!
Thank you sir!
do you keep or buy all these watches you review? I'd go broke, proud but broke as shit
I keep about 75% of them but yeah it gets EXPENSIVE!
Why did you sell it? Just curious seen these for a good price lately.
its a cool watch but how the hell victorinox you can sell this watch when anyone can get a breitling omega seiko etc...
Not everyone can afford a Breitling or Omega but you knew that already right?

nice looking watch, it's just a little too big for me though
It is pretty big.
i love seiko instead of swiss
How to see 16 17 18 19 minutes in this watch

You just borrowed that didn't you ;)
1t was $ 2200 5 years ago now it cost $2800
"Really, really" nice review ;- )
Yeah, I know I say "really" too much smartass :)
@@maverickwatchreviews Really?

Gosh, it's not pronounced Victor-nox in any language.
Lmao...you're lonely huh?

Pssst ...Its pronounced VIC-TOR-E-NOX not VIC-TOR-NOX
Pssst...it's spelled "NIGHT" not "NITE". Thanks for watching!
Price had to be 295 USD. Its not an Omega at the end of the day, just pathetic Victorinox.
It was $2295.00 not $295.00 and Victorinox is FAR from pathetic :) Great watches actually.

I call that a left hand watch.
