The people that composed the Unsolved Mysteries theme are geniuses. In an era of bright happy synthesizer tunes that sounded like sunshine and bubblegum, it's a nicely stark contrast to hear one of the darkest, most sinister sounding tunes composed for TV. I never realized just how much of an influence this was on the Halloween style music I create

Similar but not the same, Unsolved Mysteries is based on true actual events. I believe the X-Files had only one episode- the first episode of the first season - based on actual true events. Although I do believe some of the episodes of the X-Files are based on truths, they're allegories and it's one of my favorite shows, I'm actually rewatching all the X-Files and Unsolved Mysteries episodes

I always love the part at 1:29, when they change to some cool action sequence they've shot (car chase, explosion, etc). For a show like that, it had some really well done reenactments.
I was disappointed they didn’t keep the reenactments in the Netflix version but I guess it was hard to do the reenactments without a narrator and it really is impossible to replace Robert Stack.
I was expecting to lose interest after the main theme but the entire thing is dynamic, very interesting, and manages to stay on topic. It's pretty fantastic really. I just bought both volumes on vinyl, not cheap, no regrets.
If you haven’t watched this show in decades, seeing it again will make you appreciate the meaning behind all of these cues. The open/close and update themes just scratch the surface.

I’m on a marathon through amazon prime. That’s the reason I pay for prime is for this show. Every theme is scary but seasons 8-9 really had me tripping. That’s when I started watching it and then they would show reruns of it. Scariest show of all time.
I was too scared to watch this as a kid once the theme song started. I'm 32 now and have been marathoning the show during quarantine. This music manages to strike a cord :D love it, gonna screenwrite to it
I was haunted by this show as a child, now I binge watch it fearlessly as an adult. The unexplained does not scare me, but helps me think outside the box to derive potential solutions and expand my world view and perspective. Not understanding but still seeking to find out is the start of wisdom.
And what's even scarier, it was much easier to get away with murder. Literally. There weren't cameras on every corner like there are now. Crazy to think of how many murders went unsolved. At least this show help bring many people to justice.
UM was the perfect mix of sound effects,theme song,narrator host, filming angles,storylines..... If one those had been off tone,the show wouldn't of been as iconic
The panic I'd feel not knowing where the remote was when this show would unexpectedly come on the tv in the 90s was off the charts. This, Tales from the Crypt, and Are You Afraid of the Dark all terrified me as a 6-11 year old.
FUN FACT: It's not on here but has anyone ever realized that one cue from the "Tallmans Ghost" segment was actually a scary downed version of "Silent Night"? If I remember correctly, that segment at one point took place during Christmas where you see a tree and decorations up in their living room with the son sleeping on the sofa. If you listen carefully, it's actually the first few bars of "Silent Night". To me that one was one of the creepiest cues and they must have liked it so much that they used it throughout the series during the ghost segments and even some alien and UFO segments. They probably figured that it's not so obviously "Silent Night" and works for other things plus you wouldn't realize this unless you caught that Tallman segment having been Christmas themed.

Two campers, Billy Smith and Zelenograd Williams noticed the spectacle. They walked towards the car and to their surprise, there was nobody there, but the strangest part was that the car was still running and the theme to Unsolved Mysteries was playing in the tape deck...
The song “Garage Door” in this clip is not the version I heard in the Tallman’s Ghost segment. It has a dreaded heart beat rhythm and synth sound. I heard it in other works: a PSA in Canada regarding a lost child in the woods and in a WWF promo featuring Jake The Snake locking Ultimate Warrior in a room full of snakes.

I had actually learned something both very fascinating and creepy alike from the unsolved mysteries ghost episode called the black hope haunting and that the accounts of graves getting disturbed on 2 separate private properties in a rural Texas neighborhood back in the early 1980's is what became the transpiration for the 1982 Horror Film "Poltergeist" which is what is said on back of the unsolved mysteries DVD Box that I still keep my copy of that episode inside of

Yeah, I was always impressed by the quality of the reenactments. They were generally realistic with naturalistic acting.
