I can see that everybody is a little dissapointed. At first I was a little bit too. But then I realised that this video compeletly suits the lyrics. The song is telling a story about complete devotion. About a pair of people who give their souls and bodies to each other. And that is what makes this song so special to me. Video is showing the same thing. Although they are acting in an boring dancing competition, the result and prize isn't what matters. It is the dance in which two people must rely on each other in 100%, to have full trust, and somehow to create a one being. That is why i like the video very much. Just like in a new OMAM songs, the true meaning of new OMAM videos lies beneath the layers, beneath the skin..... ;)
This video is amazing! When the lights turn off while they're dancing at the end of the video, it's like there are only them in the room and no one else, no judges or audience that judge them, there is only their love.
beautiful song.. As a 911 medic this song has brought a lot of pain with some bad memories of deaths in my career.. but also kept me going thank you of monsters and men sometimes you can only do so much
Wowwy, why did no one understand this video?! It was great. A couple who WANTS to dance, and therefore has excelled in their talent, knows that that is what they will do do, regardless of competition or who is watching, which is WHY they are fantastic. They are separate from the audience (which has become desensitized to the magic of the couple's practice by watching many dances beforehand and are a judging bunch, and unimpressed by whatever they will see, even something amazing; which reflects on the habit of people today) and since the couple is separate by the dull mindset of the audience, they immerse into the only world they care about; their own. I loved the contrast of their confidence and the entire setting (the gym, the bored audience, the unlit living room). So lovely! I thought the song went well with it! For those of you who were expecting a video on wolves chasing people, I'm sure there's a bunch of pre-made wolf-related things out there you can set this audio too, lol. But really, maybe you should watch it again?
I think that the video of the twins is more powerful. But, i like this one too. I was kind of amazed when these salsa (or merengue) dancers started to match with a type of music completely different. Besides, i think they gave another meaning to the lyrics speaking about fulfilling dreams.
How doesn't the video fit the song? Both the lyrics and the video talks about synergy, loving one another. The lyrics is about two people who love each other. They complete each other. On the other hand, there are some people who try to make their love break, but their love is stronger (the wolves have no teeth, so they don't cause them any hurt). The same happens to the dance. When a couple dances, one's movements complete the other's. It's synergy. Even though the public may not feel it, or the judges hope for a bad movement to decrease their grades, it's not enough to let them down and kill the euphoria the dance brings to them.
I understand and kinda agree with what you're saying. For me the setting in the gym and the color wash was what was "off". It feels like something filmed on an old medium. The lyrics were really cool and I just would have preferred a slicker look to video.
This is actually so amazing. On the outside you look and see something that just doesn't seem to mesh right, but if you shift your eyes to focus on the two dancers, you witness such a beautiful connection of body and spirit that leads to almost a blur of all of the outside judgements that surround them. Its like energy and colour turn something usual into something extravagant.
For the people who don't understand the video: Both the lyrics and the video talks about synergy, loving one another. The lyrics is about two people who love each other. They complete each other. I love this! The video accentuates the music and the two go together so well. The dancing is paced well for the song. And I love how at the end they look so confident and happy like the audience melted way and it was just the two of them focusing on each other, which fits with the meaning of the song. It's perfect!!
Come on people, the lyrics match perfectly with the feeling of the couple when they are dancing "And you can follow me" "You run in my veins" "You're feeding all my energy", this video gives a perfect interpretation of the song.
when i hear this song i am reminded of that old saying, " their bark is worse than their bite". To me what is implied is that these wolves may be unable to physically hurt you but their words tear through you. you wouldn't be running from their bites, but their words and words hurt more than any physical injury can. an injury may leave a physical scar but the initial pain and damage is repaired, but sometimes emotional damage lasts a lifetime and never fades or goes away. so in essence a wolf without teeth's best weapon is their words not their bite.
+Isobella Austin I'm no dancer but it was awesome to watch them in their element. The dressing up and the show was for everyone else. They were always in that other place even practicing.
***** omg I know its brilliant right :) I love more simple music videos like this, loads of videos are so heavily digitally edited and its so cool for them to do something more original :)
Someone mentioned this song was about the soul, and that does make some sense. However, I like to think that instead it's about one's past, their demons, their regrets, and dreams that never were. The wolves. The empowering notion that you can move forward despite these wolves, as long as you're moving forward...your past has no teeth.
Esse clipe é lindo! O momento em que as luzes se apagam e vc percebe que eles dançam um para o outro sem se importar com o que está em volta... é surreal!
it is beautifully done and the atmosphere is breathtaking, took me two replays to understand where it was coming from but it is an amazing video overall. this was also my favorite song of the album :)
This is a really nice ode to extremely talented, developing artists. You SING at that retirement home, and DANCE in that school auditorium, like you're already big, and it's the last performance you'll ever give!
I liked the pairing of the video with the song. I had to watch it two times to get some sort of understanding but I think there are multiple layers to this. "I'll be the blood if you'll be the bones" Is an analogy for you have to work as a cohesive unit while dancing, way more so than any other occupation/hobby. The significance of the school is that it is a high school reunion and they may have had a rough time in school because of the other students or in this case "wolves". So they ran as far as they could to get away from the pain. The example in the lyrics is "You hover like a hummingbird haunt me in my sleep". As if the students comments and opinions are looming over the dancers for their whole lives. That is until they realized that these wolves (students, or specifically critics) don't have a significant impact on their lives. Hence "wolves without teeth". So they go back to the school and aren't afraid to show their classmates who they are and that they are not afraid of them anymore because they have each other. These are just my current thoughts and interpretation of their message. Please feel free to share your thoughts on what you think this means.
Well you kinda over analysed the song. As far as I have seen from the interviews, it is just about being scared and paranoid of nothing and that you just need to be brave. A lot of dance competitions are held in schools, so I think that is just a coincidence. But I do like that you took the time to analyze the video 😊
+Alex Hackbarth I think it's more about how they compliment each other. "I breathe what is yours, you breathe what is mine" "I'll be the blood if you'll be the bones" How they go together so perfectly to make wonderful partners on the dance floor
The video matchs perfectly with the track. It talks about passion, love and fusion with each other while dancing and demons that both dancers are fleeing.
I came here after watching the twins video. I liked both. The lyrics of this song are so widely interpretative and life has so many emotional spectres that I have the feeling that both resemblance the full meaning of this song. Love feeds on itself and is stronger than jealousy, envy from other people and even our own insecurity. It is a calling for introspection and communication, with ourselves, with our significant other, and to focus on the trust and look for the endurance of that love.
I don't get why people think the video is unfitting. These dancers have to put their all into their moves and making sure they are totally in sync with their partner... fits perfect in my eyes.
I thoroughly enjoy all "Of Monsters and Men" videos! The songs are hauntingly beautiful and the visuals are lovely. Here is another excellent job from a group that is concerned by the quality of music they put out, rather than monetary gains.
Amazing Song, great video, gorgeous actors. Concerning the meaning of the video there is more than one dimension. It is about confidence, love and unity. Another meaning ist that you really should love what you do and if you are really into it, nothing can stop you. Also it means than things are not always what we recognice as the first, most times they are much deeper and often very different from what we believe.
look at how happy and in love they look while dancing together. They are following a dream that is very hard to reach and at the same time gives them so much happiness. Now how can this not match the song?
This is amazing! Love the details, the colours, and how it featured the expressions of the audience. The contrast of two people with so much passion and the audience. 2.58 onwards made me smile
I love this video. It's about finding your moment. Most of us don't get to be pro athletes or pop stars or Olympians or performing in front of huge crowds. But we all have our thing and the biggest stage we ever get is probably school gym in front of a hundred or so people. But it doesn't matter to these two. They'll go out there and own that shit anyway because they have a passion for what they do. At 3:07 you see what's in their minds: there's no gym, and no panel of nerdy judges; just them delivering the performance they worked so hard for regardless if anyone is watching.
Nailed it as always. It makes me sad when I see negative comments and I read a lot in here but although I liked the lyric video more than this, I really liked this one. It is so amazing how you can turn your song into a brilliant thoughtful video. Great job 👏💞
Omg I love this sooooo much!!! I kept trying to express how incredible it is in writing but I just can't! The words just won't fit! OMAM is the best! I love you guys so much!!!!!!!
Remarkable how the music fits the salsa dance steps seamlessly! That the energy and rhythm of "Wolves" can cross genres not only doesn't take away from either the video or the song, but adds to the art tremendously. Then there is that remarkable commentary about this metaphor --- and I'm speculating here --- about romantic love and specifically sex, that the emotions and the dynamics are ultimately carnal and animalistic. Such love, as in salsa, is likened to the struggle between wolves who pursues and one who succumbs to the bites of wolves without teeth, each giving the other the fullness of their unchecked desires. The video, though granted full license to be licentious, exploits a refreshingly creative angle in salsa to visually illustrate the raw and explosive nature of the song's sexual subject. Bravo!
This is literally one of my favorite songs ever written. I always come back to it, but I somehow have never seen this video? Amazing, I can FEEL their passion for dance, even when the environment (school gym) doesn't match. And just the whole build up to the competition, matches the whole song perfectly.
Love u all💗💖 Jeg elskar dig OMAM💗💘
To me, this video is perfect for the song. It's mainly because of the part where the scene transitions from the gym to the ballroom, or wherever that was. Basically, it was showing two people getting so caught up in the moment, so lost in passion, that they compleatly forget everything around them. All that matters is the dance, and the energy, and the fire in the air as they move. They are completatly locked into each other- they know exactly what the other is going to do before they do it. It's not just all the hours of practice they put in: it's also that feeling, when they step out on the dance floor and know: YES. This is their time to show the world what they can do, that they are so passionate about this that NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. All they know is the dance and each other. My interpertation of the lyrics is how two people are compleatly lost in each other, in the love and passion of simply being together, and how everything else around them disapears to leave just them, connected, one and the same.
I totally understand why people don't like this music video. It's weird and I feel like it could have had more interesting shots to compensate for the clash of music styles. They are definitely not dancing to this music, that's the problem...but their dancing reflects the themes. Could have been done better, however, I keep coming back to it, because it's so unique! The happiness and confidence and their love is infectious. We have so many cool music videos, so many...this one is stands out, it's special. Even if it's for at least partly negative reasons (primarily a lack of melding the two subjects, lack of relevance, etc.) I woke up just wanting to watch this again, because it's like anything I've seen.
The song is beautiful and the video is amazing! I love how it ends with the dancers tuning out the insecurities and fears and giving an amazing dance performance and how the judge smirks at the end!
A lot of people complaining about the video, and I agree. This song deserved a more epic video (the lyric one with the twins was way better). Still, only 36 dislikes so far, even when disappointed, OMAM fans never hate.
i love this video. to me it explains the song perfectly (more than than the lyric video) though thats great as well. i especially love when the couple stop letting the "wolves" feeding on their energy and finally start dancing like they mean it haha. Stomp!
What's wrong with you, guys? This video is amazing! All the grace, the beauty, the majestic moves and soul it contains! This woman is so much beaultiful, and her dancing! The man's moves are incrediable. The video celebrates beauty and freedom to express yourself throght your body! In love
Am I the only one who actually thinks the video fits the song perfecty? The song basically talks about their love completing each other and the attempt of others to sparate them, or a t least try!!
+Crazed Out Kid Very suitable. On my mind song of the senseless fears. The fact that the people themselves is wound and begin to fear what actually afraid of is not necessary. They are, as it were, running away from toothless Wolves. So these two are constantly trained, but still very afraid of this action. And in the end they managed. They ran away from the wolves without teeth.
This song reminds me so much of the love I have now, when I first heard this song I pictured something very similar to this video and I am so pleased that the person who directed this video saw a very similar expression of story ❤
I look at the audience and the judges in this video and I can't help but imagine they represent everyone who doesn't understand the connection between this video and the song 😁😂
Those voices!
That sound!
beautiful
hi i msam
Yes exactly 💯 ❤I love this song 🎵 ❤
They are married in real life, and they're both professional dancers. They're chemistry is real and the song fits them and their passion perfectly 🖤
That makes me love it even more.

+TDR Nevareth I also think it's about fear of failure, but I loved your perspective :)
I understand and kinda agree with what you're saying. For me the setting in the gym and the color wash was what was "off". It feels like something filmed on an old medium. The lyrics were really cool and I just would have preferred a slicker look to video.

Atlantis separated soul became two and they want to become one again by burning together and merging into each other
I honestly really like this video - it's simple and elegant
The song is beautiful and the video is amazing! I love how it ends with the dancers tuning out the insecurities and fears and giving an amazing dance performance and how the judge smirks at the end!
Still trying to calculate how it has 3M iews. When I heard it on radio, thought it would be like a "Billion". Super-underrated.
So many people shooting down the video, I think it's awesome, and the song takes it to another level.
Ооооочень красиво!💥❤
Manly tears were shed to this song. Endless beauty in these sounds ... :)
This gives another new meaning to the song, fantastic OMAM ❤
this duet is the best till now !!! i cant find better than these two !!
Stomp!
melhor música ❤
Another great OMAM video/Song. Saw them last summer in Redmond Washington, one of the best shows I have ever seen. Can't wait for the next tour!!!
MELHOR CLIPE PRA SEMPRE. Chega me arrepio. ♥

ruclips.net/video/cg9L3jvOE94/видео.html fiz um AMV com essa música ... Espero que goste
The chemistry, oh the chemistry. Awesome.
this actually my favorite music video of theirs. it’s just something about how certain parts of the song match the rhythm of the video eerily well.
seeing them smile, made me smile....
Music, dance, the arts...our one and only highest contribution to this existence.
Am I the only one who actually thinks the video fits the song perfecty?
The song basically talks about their love completing each other and the attempt of others to sparate them, or a t least try!!
+Crazed Out Kid Very suitable. On my mind song of the senseless fears. The fact that the people
themselves is wound and begin to fear what actually afraid of is not
necessary. They are, as it were, running away from toothless Wolves. So
these two are constantly trained, but still very afraid of this action.
And in the end they managed. They ran away from the wolves without
teeth.
Both the guy and the girl have perfect voices and when they join it's like a cascade of great feelings.
They are not the ones singing.
weed75 Black I know how Monsters and men look like
Thepomafame k
So they're going to make a Salsa album!
LMAO!
Wtf jaja
+VStrizzy if they're gonna make us wait like Eminem has made me wait for that since the ending of 'My Band' from D12, we'll be waiting for a while. xD
i don't know what specifically it is about this video but it has me hypnotized, it all works somehow and i love it!!

Sienah Pablo Thank you!!

For all the people who say the video doesn't match the song. It's not about the video, it's about the song.
You are the best, OMAM!!! I love you and this song!!!
the lyric video kills this one
:^)
yeeaaah ! the twins are really better !
+Mélodie Drt way much better than this video
+Efraín Villegas Sánchez Agree!

i love icelandic people... and this song... ❤💜 and icelandic people in this song!
This song reminds me so much of the love I have now, when I first heard this song I pictured something very similar to this video and I am so pleased that the person who directed this video saw a very similar expression of story ❤
This looks like something Wes Anderson would direct.
agreed
yeah
+Bella Boo Not enough symmetry though
Nah, whoever did Napoleon dynamite. Wes Anderson always has good music in his films.
I like Wes anderson more than this
This new album is fantastic!!!Very nice video!!!
Idk who the 'i don't get it' people are cause I was mesmerized from start to finish and I am every time I watch this video.
I love this video, of monsters and men will forever be my favourite
I look at the audience and the judges in this video and I can't help but imagine they represent everyone who doesn't understand the connection between this video and the song 😁😂
