    I can't see pink, orange and white colors together because it emphasize me the flag of lesbian community and it goes as a sign to the HOCD to say that "I'm lesb" 😢😢😢
    Even if I see only orange color it popped up in my mind the lesb flag. It really upset me and unsettle me so much 😢😢😢😢
    How I wish I didn't know some things... This is really unsettling dealing with HOCD and our mind trying to prove you all the time that you are the opposite of what you are and are sure about yourself 😖😖😖😖😭😭😭😭😭

      I have the same with the trans flag, once threw a book out cos it had the similar coloured stripes to the flag. Don't know how I didn't realise it was T-OCD

      It's time to expose yourself to those colors! This is key for your recovery whilst breaking the beliefs down about being gay.

    so the main step to recovery is to be okay with being gay, change my belief systems into being okay to be gay? because that is what i’ve started working on now.

    I have done a ton of exposures, put the gay flag in my ig bio for a couple of months, asked to buy something in a shop for my boyfriend. I now this is fear of fear probably but when you said you did those exposures a couple of times i feel really compelled to them again to prove i am not afraid, im pretty confused on to wether or not i should do them again or not

      Yes exposures aren’t everything, some belief work will also be needed. It is easy to get caught in the trap of chasing exposures in order to de-sensitise to our fear but this is only part of the recovery process. Please feel free to reach out to us using the email address above.

      Hey buddy - HOCD has no rules, I wouldn't spend much time trying to break down why it does something I'd focus on the core fears.

    • @elliottplayle2871
      @elliottplayle2871 10 дней назад

      Yes it will feel as real as it can get and these responses will need to be worn, while breaking down your core fears which in HOCD tends to be fear of rejection, fear of not being able to accept yourself, fear of being gay itself and fear of missing out on a happy life. What you’re describing sounds like a back door spike where the anxiety response goes down to your fear thereby making it feel real. The point is, is that it shouldn’t matter whether it is real or not, because even if you did find that arousing, it wouldn’t be catastrophically bad for you. Your life wouldn’t be over and you could still find happiness in other pursuits. That’s the rational mindset you must adopt with HOCD.

      Hey Sy - You won't be able to get certainty on trusting yourself/ OCD feels as real as it can get/ OCD has no absolute not rules.

    • @elliottplayle2871
      @elliottplayle2871 10 дней назад

      Hi - as Nick said you’re never going to be able to get certainty on this I’m afraid. You need to get to a point where it wouldn’t matter if you were gay or not and really adopt the principles of unconditional self, life and other acceptance and see that even if you were you gay you could stand it, accept it and your life wouldn’t be over. Have you read the books on the OCD recovery reading list? I’d recommend starting there
