To be honest, we also have pumas, and panthers, but the numbers are insignificant.
These things are some of the fastest animals on the planet. I have chased them at speeds of 60kph they are extremely hard to run over also because they can turn at 90° instantly. The fishtails that ensue when I try to do that in the car are fun though.
It's important to exercise caution and be aware of the potential presence of wildlife when driving in areas where they are known to inhabit.
They don't talk about solutions just the damage they do. Get to the part oh how to solve the problem humanely.

I agree feral cats are a definite threat to wildlife but since they didn't hitch-hike into the bush nor leave a warm home with a reliable food supply for a life of hardship in the bush, can we please stop blaming the cats and instead introduce severe penalties for those who dump them! Also showing fictious videos made from splicing footage taken from other countries should be illegal. No, we don't have Bob Cats, nor Pallas or Lynx or snow like that. If you want to educate people try reporting the truth!

I had this same conversation with my daughter today about Myna birds because she saw some in a neighbours trap. I explained that it is terrible that we have to take a life. The bird is just doing what it do's but invasive pests kill millions of our precious native animals every day! And they need to be protected more! She had witnessed it fist hand without realising it. A few years ago our family excitedly watched a pair of beautiful little sun birds make thier nest, home and family with our family. Then one day I peeked in the nest and there was only one slightly bigger egg left, there was 3. I figured they were no good and mum kicked them out. Then a week or so later we heard baby bird and looked in and baby not look right. About a week later I saw a juvenile myna bird leave the nest. So the myna bird not only kill and eat the eggs they lay one for the sun birds to raise. And even she can understand how sometimes terrible things need to happen to protect our native animal's. What's ya thoughts on cane toads? Bet my left nut you want them irradiated. Because they aren't cute and funny like a cat. Cats will kill and eat evey single native animal that walks, flys and swims this country. Don't leave a baby unattended in feral cat country. And if they start to pack hunt like big cats, humans will quickly become part of they're menu!
Has nothing to do with the amount of cats in the area one little bit. It is a perfect storm of lots of farmed grain being stored and perfect breeding conditions. It happens about evey decade. And it's multi millions of mice. The predators are fox, dingo, wild dogs, snakes, goannas, birds,cats and humans . And they can eat they're fill enough that they don't bother trying to eat each other because there are so many mice that they all combined don't even put a dent in the mouse population. So yeah have a few thousand feral cats help out with a mouse plague and then what happens? Look out native fauna. Invasive pests need to be removed at all costs. And we have so many Invasive flora and fauna now it's just ridiculous. Even rabbits kill by eating all the food and starving the natives out. Open you mind with the risk it may be blown.

Make spay and neuter federally subsidized! The cost has tripled and sometimes quadrupled over the past ten years. Organizations that provide it have cycles of funding which come and go. Did you know that one female cat can go into heat (estrus) five times per year, and each 'litter' will average five babies? That's potentially twenty five (25!) new cats from one female in one year. Do the math to figure out how many other cats will be reproducing from those twenty five as well! No one can keep up with that without enormous expense, which eludes most of us. IF it were federally subsidized (because blaming cats OR blaming the compassionate humans who won't let them starve but also can't get them all 'fixed') is NOT the way to help the situation) -- we could solve the excess feral cat situation within about five (5) years. I used to work in an animal shelter. People WANT to get this provided for, but most shelters do not cover the entire cost. Are pets now a luxury? Do not the less-monied people also have love to give them? It may be argued that they have more time and love to give them. Obviously, the issue is the cost versus the income. One person feeding one feral cat can soon find themselves with a colony. Shaming them for their compassionate yet lack of funds does NOTHING but harm. The only ones powerfully objecting to federally subsidizing spay and neuter are the pet food industry's lobbyists. THAT'S shameful. 😢

I gained the trust of a feral cat, she later had kittens in my shed so I rescued her and her kittens. Made a cosy space for them in my home, placed the kittens in their area and because the mumma was too weak and tired after giving birth, I was able to pick her up and put her with her kittens. I closed them in the room for her to get familiar with the space. After about 20min I went in to find the feral mumma purring in their bed feeding and loving her babies. Later she explored the room getting familiar with the feeding area and the drinking fountain.
She'd feed her babies, have something to eat and then sun bathe in the back yard until her kittens called for feeding time.
Heart and Soul rescue helped to get her health check, immunised, neutered and micro chipped 👉🏾EASY non violent solution.
She just needed love
I named her Ruth, she is still with me today. Her feral father that hangs around my neighborhood looks like he's had to scavenge for food his whole life. I have set up a sheltered feeding shelf on the side of my house for him and any other feral/stray cat where they get fresh wet and dry food twice a day.

Yeah that's not a solution is it? Someone has to deal with - we caused it, we have to deal with it. Besides who isn't self-aware enough to realise that we're the problem. The only solution is for cities and county residents to pay enough taxes to expand pound facilities and their being willing to come get all these feral cats. I felt sorry for one and she now has six kittens all safe in a back room. County animal control services would not help me.

As so many others have said, this video is not useful or accurate. You could have spent half the time, edited your text to only the facts, used footage only from Australia, and I wouldn't have ended up resenting the 10 minutes I did spend getting sad about a problem that seems to have no solution. Seeing piles of dead cats that were supposed to be loved house pets just shows me that people are the problem from beginning to end. They should have found humane solutions much sooner. You make it seem like the cats are the enemy but all they're trying to do is survive... like every other animal on earth!
