      There’s a documentary abiut the creation of the EU on “thatcherite Scot” channel where he is almost in tears as an old man talking about it in the documentary. It’s so sad. They knowingly and willingly took away our self government and sovereignty and helped fill our parliament with all pro EU people with all Thatcherites or Powellites practically banned and unable to get a smear of media support because it’s been monopolised by ultra left traitors.

      A student of prophecy he measured his influence in decades rather than the next election cycle as did his contemporaries. Until Blair cranked open the floodgates still further, Powell’s demographic calculations dismissed as monstrous alarmism in the 60s, were forensically accurate.
      And now nightly, his nation’s capital city is bathed in the rivers of blood, of endless stabbing victims, he prophesied. No one is either mad or stupid enough to genuinely believe that circumstance will get anything but worse; those who pay it any attention at all, chiefly seek to park any and all blame, on the shrinking native population, now an absolute minority in such cities, and the more they dwindle in size the more shrill the blaming of them becomes.

      As Peter Hitchens pointed out in a recent interview, we've snookered ourselves with what we did to the education system over the past half century or so. Can you imagine this country producing someone like Powell these days? Laughable! It's over. The next time this country will be significant on the world stage will be under a completely different culture altogether.

      IAN PAYNE I’m not being ‘stupid,’ sunshine, it’s a good natured reference to what Powell authored as the “Birmingham Speech,” delivered to the Conservative Association there, on April 20th, 1968, now known to history as the _Rivers of Blood Speech,_ his most famous of all... the gravity of whose content *all begins,* with Enoch relating a conversation he’d had, on the street with a Wolverhampton constituent, of the precise kind alluded to above. 🤦🏼‍♂️
      (One of the multiple ongoing bones of contention over that speech, from the moment he sat down after delivering it, being that the Wolverhampton constituent in question, Enoch quoted, responsible for the very first of that speech’s many and crushing choices of phrase, namely, _”In this country, in twenty or thirty years time, the Black man will have the whip hand, over the White man,”_ was *never identified.*
      The great man’s remarks then, equally famously/infamously, go on:
      _”I can already hear the chorus of execration. How dare I say such a horrible thing? How dare I stir up trouble and inflame feelings by repeating such a conversation? The answer is that I do not have the right not to do so. Here is a decent, ordinary fellow Englishman, who in broad daylight in my own town says to me, his Member of Parliament, that his country will not be worth living in for his children.”_
      Powell *always refused* to name the constituent, and the press never succeeded in tracking him down, leading them to dishonestly accuse the MP of making the person up, and inventing deliberately inflammatory language; in effect charging him that the constituent never actually existed. _Geddit?)_

    Anthony Howard claims that Enoch’s unhappiness stems from the day of Indian Independence. Having read various bits about Enoch I would suggest it goes back even earlier. He always claimed that he wanted to have died as a soldier in WW II, he was buried in his army uniform I believe, but due to his fine intellect was transferred into the Army Intelligence and out of the infantry. Something I think he felt tremendous guilt about.

    • @zeddeka
      @zeddeka 4 года назад +2

      Enoch Powell was a very eccentric character - he was notably odd as a student and wouldn't mix with other students, instead locking himself away in his room. When asked about it later he said that he hadn't been aware that there was anything else to do. When he taught at university, his students used to call him "the textual pervert" because of his somewhat spooky obsessiveness. Many people now believe that he had Asperger's Syndrome. He certainly had a lot of the characteristics.

    • @michaeljames4904
      @michaeljames4904 4 года назад +10

      There is some validity in this claim because Powell originally became an MP with the ultimate aim of being Viceroy of India. He adored the subcontinent and spoke six of its languages fluently, alongside his many others.

    • @michaeljames4904
      @michaeljames4904 4 года назад +3

      T H That is, being blunt, not exactly that eccentric for Cambridge where the workload is quite taxing. Many still do lead just such a student life, unless they happen to be sporty. I went to see a stand up comic there once, at a college event, a chap whose routine clearly involved a lot of audience participation.
      He asked the first audience member, how he was enjoying all the boozing and mischief that came with student life... obviously intending to bounce back, with a preprepared routine, on thar topic...
      _”I just spend all my time in the library, really,”_ came the answer. The second person he struck up conversation with, gave an identical answer. As did the third... the poor guy bombed.

      This being the means via which the journalist Simon Heffer, acquired his doctorate, for a published biography of J. Enoch Powell - who favoured his middle-name because there was already an established famous Classicist called “John Powell” - I’d therefore very much make that book your own starting point; if thoroughly curious.

In time, Enoch will be remembered as the man who we ignored to our dismay, a man who will be proven right, as he already is. As for this man?
