Great to hear her development, right ? Her low register has always been special, so it's not too surprising to see that she takes everything new down an octave or two. I just think that the way she has adapted to and adopted her "new" voice is SO awesome to see and hear. She's still only 16 and her voice have by no means stopped evolving. We'll have another 10 years or so before that happens. But Angelina the artist will never stop evolving. I can't imagine her future. She can do whatever she wants to, and it will be great. Dave, that's a great point about that fact that this studio version is on AJ's official channel. Sounds like Republic cut a deal -- probably in advance of AJ's album release. Excellent point here. BTW, AJ's performance here is absolutely stellar. She has to belt near the top of her range, and she handles the key change perfectly. Very little vocal strain or pressure. Her riffs during the coda are from another planet -- and the way she sustains fry and vibrato and breathiness throughout her runs is her signature: easily the best I've every encountered. This is what happens when you bring a classic jazz mentality and ability to classic pop. Thanks for your reaction!

This performance is beyond belief, the cinemaphotography, the ART, and this time we get to savor over 4 minutes of total bliss, no one is capable of doing this song justice like Angelina Jordan. David Foster and Linda Thompson, who co-wrote this ballad for Whitney Houston would be blown away by this performance.
As much as Angelina is awesome, I love how she is bringing new breath to the singers we've lost. People do not take the time to comment on that so much, and I think that is what makes Angelina so great. She is bringing new life to awesome singers we have had in the past, and bringing them back to us, in her way.

Read that Queen gave her rights to sing her version of Bohemian Rhapsody. That's respect and shows that she is being recognized by the music industry.

Angelina Jordan Inc has secured the rights to this video and performance, but surely not to the song itself. It is probably a bit different from BoRhap, where Angelina has done a completely new arrangement - while «Suspicious Minds» (also Angelina Jordan Inc) sits somewhere in the middle. Importantly, BoRhap is available on streaming platforms, while the other two as of now are not. Seems to me that her managent has secured limited rights for YT use.

Hello Dave. Angelinas voice just gets better and better, and she did it her way. She sings it at a slower tempo, with many more runs and melismas than Whitney. I find Whitneys’ version, especially from the movie, very poppy, and in contrast for me, Angelina is more soulful, heartfelt, and emotional. I know it’s a matter of personal taste, but Angelina blew me away.

In her 13-year-old recording of this song she actually did copy Whitney note for note albeit with a little of her rasp and unique tone. In this one, she stripped out most of Whitney's embellishments and replaced them with her own. And where in Whitney's vocals power and emotion were centered in the belted portions of the song, Angelina's emotional expression could be more felt throughout the song and the belting although there was less emphasized. I'm just referring to a matter of degree, both of them were excellent in their own way in all portions of the song.

Hopefully her family (team) will continue to hold her back until she finishes her education. Her grandmother Mery Zamani besides being a world renowned poet and artist has a masters in psychology, and her father is a petroleum engineer so I’m pretty sure her mom and uncle Mike (manager) have some sort of degree other than high school

I think this all ties in when Sony wanted to collaborate with Republic Records on some movies and use certain artists from R&R for certain songs,, this all came about just before Angelina did her Mercy for the movie "The Hunting Game" And our buddy Simon Cowell is part of Sony Entertainmen as well,, My understanding 👣
There’s a different energy for some live performances, but I was disappointed in the quality of the videos I’ve seen from Angelina’s recent tour. It’s like they were all recorded with an phone from the audience. I think Angelina is easily the best singer I’ve ever heard, but the concert recordings didn’t do justice to her talent. This studio recording is flawless, just spectacular. Strong, powerful, but nuanced. Not one second of hesitation in her voice. No one can sing this without nods to Whitney, but Angelina’s voice has such power and richness in her lower registers that-yes, again- she makes it her own. Vocal control that’s so beautiful. Her extended last note is a pure straight tone for a long time before she adds vibrato as it fades out. Everything beautifully done.
Angelina signed with Republican Records a few yrs. ago. Whitney Houston was with Clive Davis & not sure Who Whitney originally signed on with. My guess us probably Sony or Columbia? I DON'T think Republican Records was around back in those days of Whitney's days. I am sure someone will have the facts in regards to these questions.

She isn't really covering Whitney Houston as Whitneys version also is a cover of the original singer and writer of the song: Dolly Parton. More that people sing the Whitney version but not a cover as she isn't the original singer.

I've been on vacation and this is the first time I've seen this particular studio version! I thought her recent "Allsang pa Grensen" performance of this song could nto POSSIBLY get any better! But I have to say Angelina outdid Angelina threefold on this one! The power, the richness of her voice, the modulation and vitbrato, the style of her delivery, body language and hand movements, just EVERYTHING was SUPER PERFECT in every way! well spoken dave. as a fan you can just feel the complete conviction in her voice as she tells us a story. this performance for me is one of the rare times when i get completely lost in a song and will remember it forever.

There’s a different energy for some live performances, but I was disappointed in the quality of the videos I’ve seen from Angelina’s recent tour. It’s like they were all recorded with an phone from the audience. I think Angelina is easily the best singer I’ve ever heard, but the concert recordings didn’t do justice to her talent.
This studio recording is flawless, just spectacular. Strong, powerful, but nuanced. Not one second of hesitation in her voice. No one can sing this without nods to Whitney, but Angelina’s voice has such power and richness in her lower registers that-yes, again- she makes it her own. Vocal control that’s so beautiful. Her extended last note is a pure straight tone for a long time before she adds vibrato as it fades out. Everything beautifully done.

Angelina signed with Republican Records a few yrs. ago. Whitney Houston was with Clive Davis & not sure Who Whitney originally signed on with. My guess us probably Sony or Columbia? I DON'T think Republican Records was around back in those days of Whitney's days. I am sure someone will have the facts in regards to these questions.

So, Dave, why do you think, if that was indeed backup singers, why they only sang one phrase out of the whole song? The first time I heard it, I thought maybe it was a mistake or something. Any ideas? Or it might be Angelina singing the backup also, which she has also done before.
