I also grow moss roses as mulch for my larger plants, and they look gorgeous, especially in the morning when I enter my terrace garden. They never harm your plants as they are like a wild grasses and are invasive; they just need good sunlight and a little fertilizer yearly. ❤

Mam due to over sun exposure , salt content of the soil also increases as evaporation takes place so mulching will be beneficial for maintaining soil alive .

Mossrose,portulaca this plants have fiberess roots/shallow roots hence they don't damage the big plants roots infact they both collaborate and we can get more flowers infact big size flowers as well. It is beneficial for both of them. A Win Win Situation.🤩🤞

It has to do with the depth of the roots. The green covers have very superficial roots while the roots of the main plant are deep.

You can add one topic about roots not attaching to moss pole. I have 10 plants on a moss pole and none of them are sending aerial roots around the poles. Inspite of keeping the pole moist & training them to climb with the help of threads/wires. Please help with this! 💚

These mulch plants roots are on the top surface and don’t travel deep enough for depletion of nutrients for the main plant. I have spread this plant all over my terrace garden. Many a times it looks similar to green lawn also. My children made Ganapati idol using this Tutrtle vine plant a couple of years back
