  • In this RV DIY how-to video Mark Polk with RV Education 101 demonstrates how to restring a RV day night pleated shade using a Pleated Shade First Aid Kit by United Shade.
The United Shade restring kit is compatible with most shades. However Day/Night Shades that are imported may be constructed in such a way that that restringing is not possible. A simple way to tell if you have an import shade is by examining the rails of the shade. If the rail is made of aluminum you are able to restring the shade. If however, you have a shade with PVC (plastic) rails and an identification label (usually located on the headrail) with a BAU#, please contact a customer service rep at 877-262-0954.

Very simple clear explanation. Some people make simple things complex. You made something that could have been complex simple. Thank you.

I've been trying to figure out how to get the valances down. The blinds are in the way of seeing how anything is attached. I'm almost to the point of ripping it out of the wall. It's fine to show me the two ways they are attached after its down, but how do I determine when I can't see how its connected? These valances are so difficult to remove that I'm contemplating leaving them off. Just about every one of my day/night shades will not open or stay opened.

I loved the video and restrung 4 cord RV Day/Night 5' pleated shade. I took down the 6'2" 4 cord Day/Night pleated shade over the cab/bunk area and there appears to be two springs (at each end) at the top...do you have a different video for bunk shades?
