With such a steady exhaust? It's not a meteor and its not a satellite. Most ET craft do not have any type of propulsion flames no exhaust at all, but not all of them. Space junk? But where's the color in the exhaust? All the same its very cool.
@@stefanschleps8758 It's not exhaust. It's a plasma trail caused by friction heating with the Earth's atmosphere at high entry speeds. The lack of colour is due to the night vision mode of the camera. Take a peek at the channel's other vids and you'll see why.
Burn up of space debris, like an old satellite. It's splits into two pieces at the end, and has a a fire and smoke trail. This is hundreds of times too slow for a meteor, by the way.
Really wild it lasted that long in the sky without exploding. Glad it wasn’t larger. The animal never looked up so must have not had any sound associated with it.
Now we need the MIB/SCP joke edition, where the UFO crash lands, possesses the Gemsbok as a meat suit, drinks the water casually, sprouts wings and flies-off.
That's definitely something first of all becoming a fire ball, and then breaking up as it hits the thicker layers of the atmosphere. You can see it happening in the last 15 seconds of the video. (Sorry, didn't see the update)
@@andrewmurphy4116 wow, I may not have read the message that far. Anyway, it's interesting trying to understand what to look for when you don't yet know what is going on. I don't think an entry even would ever be this constant and slow. Not sure how a controlled entry would look like, probably not this bright?
@@falsemcnuggethope I've only ever seen them on video myself. Try entering something like "Space junk burning up on reentry" into RUclips. It does seen to have a consistent very bright start, and then an almost breaking up pattern towards the end. As did unfortunately the space shuttle. Infact, scratch "unfortunately" and replace with "tragically"
I saw something very similar to that in the mid 80's when I was a kid, though it only lasted about 10 seconds. Most probably a man made satellite coming back down at a very shallow reentry angle.
From the Space-X website: "On Sunday, October 29 at 2:00 a.m. PT, Falcon 9 launched 22 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California."
We saw it too about the same time moving very fast across the sky above the Namib desert near Namib Desert Camp. A short while after this meteor, at 4.27 am, we saw a most unusual line of 20 lights, in a sraight line looking rather like those of a railway carriage, moving in a similar trajectory to the meteor. It had no tail, and no flashing lights. The sequence of the lights from left to right was six in the first group, two spaces, single, two spaces, two, space, three, space, one, space, one, three spaces, one, two spaces, three, two spaces, one, space, one. Did anyone else see this? We have two images taken with a Sony RX10 camera and was witnessed by five of us!
From the description by @paulapitman this points very strongly to being the 2nd stage of a SpaceX Falcon9 rocket carrying another batch of Starlink Internet satellites. As is the fact, the first stage lands in the sea or on the launch pad, while 2nd stage is expendable and burns up in the atmosphere. Would surprise me if this is not a SpaceX Starlink launch. It is way to slow for a meteor.
I was able to scroll back on the livestream of this camera and at 5:28 am I saw a slow and steady moving object going across the sky! I made a screen recording of it. It's kinda faint tho.
Sounds like you are conflating the two strange things in the sky which were separate in time. The “meteor” was followed about 12 minutes later by the “train carriage” lights we observed. All the lights of this latter object were on and of the same intensity. You may well be correct about Elon Musk being behind this one!
@paulapitman7769 what I saw at the 5:27/5:28 am timestamp on the camera looks like a collection of steady dots moving into the distance. It's not that bright only because it's the livestream cam so I cant zoom in on it. But I used your information of 5:27 am to find it which was pretty exciting.
Aircraft contrail. The time looks to be about 5:15 pm so there is just a little twilight left to reflect off the contrail. The camara has night vision on so it is over exposing what little light is on the contrail.
No. As I understand it’s been identified as a Chinese Rocket body re-entering. Even assuming this isn’t the correct object, it’s still evidently an object encountering the atmosphere at near-orbital velocities (as opposed to sub-orbital or escape velocities)
30/10/2023 coincides with the Orionid meteor shower. This one appears to be skipping the edge of the atmospere, you can see it breaking up as it gets to the left of the screen.
It was Chinese satellite DUMMY MASS 3/SQX-1 re-entering and breaking up. There are several websites where details of launches and re-entries are listed 🙂
Not all fireballs fly directly down to earth. Some can skip through the upper atmosphere and continue off into space. Some can even attain an orbit akin to a satellite
@@max.racingit is possible. It happens a few times a year with meteors and was done intentionally with Artemis 1 and (to a lesser extent) the lunar Apollo missions. I recommend googling it for more info. (In this case, the debris has been identified as a Chinese rocket stage re-entering normally, but skipping off the atmosphere is a known phenomenon)
I hope not.... it would have been a critical failure. I do believe they did launch another starlink into orbit recently tho.... maybe the returning rocket? But probably 👽👾 🙃
I say the Space Station. Slow moving. Looks like a star. "Tail Effect" function of the light sensitivity of the camara? Did anybody find out officially what it was?

@@grimslayerbrittain470 this was breaking up on entry. Look at it as it disappears behind the logo and weather stats. You can see the main ball of flame divide and slowly separate. It was a shallow trajectory, but it was definitely entering the atmosphere, burning and breaking up, not merely orbiting.

Thanks for the clear and concise explanation!
Did it burn up completely? If not where did the debris land?
Thank you so much for the information however, I was kind of hoping it would be a UFO 🛸 😊
