A video of a day in Pattaya city, Thailand. On this day I was staying at Climax hotel on LK Metro, and chilled out in the afternoon on Soi Buakhao before heading to check out the famous khao man gai (Hainanese chicken rice)…

The good:
Cheap room rates
Clean rooms
Central location
Aircon was good
The Bad:
Shared balconies
Reception is the bar downstairs
No lift
No pool
No fitness center
Noise from bars until around 2 or 3am
The Ugly:
Very tight on the late checkout times, the staff weren’t flexible at all (probably pocketed the difference). They should be more relaxed about this as it’s a cheap place to stay.
Climax hotel is a good place to stay last minute of for a few nights where you just want a cheap room and know you will be out late every night. But for a 2 or 3 week stay I’d recommend to stay somewhere much quieter and with better facilities such as D hotel or March hotel…

My first night in Pattaya was at the Jasmine hotel close to the Climax. Same same, very noisy until 3 or 4am. Another good place to eat cheap, well known with the Expats is between the gold shop and the Buakhao Clinic. The chicken cashew nuts... Full of nuts. And always fun talking with some lb 's at Nidcha bar.

The most important thing for me in Pattaya is the bed. Most are thin and hard as a rock. Make sure you check this out before booking (unless you're staying up market and are booking sigh unseen).

Loved it. I stayed at LK Renaissance a couple of years ago. Spent minimal time on Walking Street, and maximum time in this area. Your video captured the feel of my days there. Simply being "ambitiously lazy" and casually taking in the sights, drinking, roaming around, checking out the local talent. I bought day passes at Tony's gym (and yes, it's hotter than hell in there)....but what a great price and, heck, who said workouts are supposed to be comfortable anyway? I admit, I am an occasional Nidcha Bar and Pook Bar patron. A great place to escape for a few days. Then, for me, onto Phuket.
wow...well, I'm happily married but it doesn't mean I don't like to fantasize and wonder--seems like Pattaya would've been a great place before February, 2020...sigh...
guessing that room might get noisy at night...unless you're making your own noise...

low prices for hotel accommodations, other area's in Asia are very pricey. I heard though that its hard to retire to Thailand the Immigration requirements are tough.

You must be a rich boy living in all those fancy hotels and motels. When i was your age we used to buy a whole village full of hotels and sleep in all of them during full moon. After waking up, you couldn't tell who was your father! Nowadays it's people with plastic and cars that pollute and airplanes... I used to dive in clear blue waters and now i'm diving in my own feces. Times change Timmy, i hope you do too.

Enjoyed the Climax bar. Would hit for the happy hour and the couple singing duets. Was fun watching the ladyboys across the soi trying to entice passerbys into the bar. Of the few we saw that went in, was wondering if they knew it was a ladyboy bar... lol

Yes I did otherwise you do not know Thailand perfectly. But scary when I went for a cheap massage 20m north of Nidcha. She was a ladyboy top and wanted to play while I only asked for a normal massage without extra. I was clever enough to have only 300baht with me. The massage was 200 I gave her 300and escaped while she was already gathering friends for the fight.
