As long as you avoid the ping pong scam bars at Patpong, a good night out can be had. The most popular bars are Bada Bing and Kings Castle 1. The live music bar can be good, as well as some older style bars such as Safari.
Patpong Ping Pong bar scam Basically touts who promise free entry, 100 baht drinks and a free naughty show. The reality is that the upstairs ping pong show bars all charge hidden fees of up to 2000 baht per person. If the inflated bill is disputed then things often turn ugly fast. Visit trip advisor's Patpong Night Market to read up on the latest tourists to be scammed, some are quite amusing :)
If you want to see a Bangkok ping pong show without the hidden fees then Suzi Wong and Long Gun on S0i Cowboy have these shows nightly and are a much safer option.

Always enjoyed a few beers in The Crown Royal shown at the start of this clip after a day in the office. Lots of ex-pats, not many tourists and the staff were always helpful if you wanted something to eat and they'd fetch with a little something for them too. Rang the bell many a time...great memories...

Bangkok 112, your comment at 11:45 is completely understandable. Here in the States, some alcohol serving club owners have started covering the walls and floors with sheets of thin stainless steel. No more scrubbing or cleaning. Now they just bring in a hose at closing time and wash everything down the drain. Looks terrible, but it is completely practical and it works.

Thanks for the review. I visited Pat Pong back in the 70's during the war. I saw a great ping pong and cigarette show. It was f'ng amazing to my 19 year old eyes! Don't remember any scams back then. Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy didn't exist then. Based on the comments from you and other posters, I think I will skip Pat Pong and just concentrate on Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy. There seems to be plenty of the entertainment for men that I seek at those places. I won't even take a chance on getting scammed on Pat Pong.

In 2005 I was in Patpong during the day. Found a tiny hole in the wall with 5 very friendly ladies. I was feeling all them up and they felt me up. Daytime is great because I'm always the only guy there and they drop my pants right in the bar lol.
I enjoyed a couple of evenings in French Kiss early last year, I'm not into the crowded bars. I'm a bit disappointed you didn't show Paddy Fields Irish pub, I spent each of my four evenings in there last year and had a great time.
"Guitarist on the left was killing it" but the singer flipping killed me.... YMMV innit

I've not been back to Pat Pong since my first trip to Thailand back in 2007 because I stay more near Soi Cowboy and Nana ever since but I'm definitely going to make a point to revisit 👍🍺🇹🇭

Another great vid. Patpong 15-25 years ago was so much better, flashy and exciting, nowadays nothing like that, as a whole, but this vid is making me go have another look. The Sakira Steak restaurant (?) (now Mizu's Kitchen), ISB kids used to hang out at Goldfinger's, King's I & II, etc. RIP Fire Cat. Sad!

In 1968 Patpong was it and there was one western style Hotel being built in Pattya Beach with a sprinkling of German tourists just starting to call, as I remember it.
I was stationed at Utapao RTAFB (Royal Thai Air Force Base) in 1967/68. I was the Base Photographer and the only time I went to Pattaya Beach was when the OSI (Office of Special Investigation) called my at work and needed me to go for a ride with them to take a bunch of Pictures. It seems that 3 GIs who were on R&R in Thailand from Vietnam had F'ed over a Drug Dealer and then bought a bunch of Thai Weed in NKP and didn't realize that the new weed had been laced with Arsenic...They rented a Mercedes Benz and threw the Marijuana in the trunk and drove to Pattaya Beach where they rented a Swanky Motel room....they went inside and all 3 of them Lit Up a joint.... One Died puking all over himself laying in one of the beds.....another was Dead lying along side the bed and the 3rd. Died taking a Shower.

Thanks for this one BK112. I had to look up what a "fidget spinner" was. Patpong was my first introduction to Bangkok. I booked a stay at the Red Planet Hotel on Surawong because of the great price and took a walk and ran smack dab into the night market/nightlife without ever hearing about this place. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed with the whole place and had to have a few beers. Thanks again and take care.

Patpong is only a shadow of what it was 15-20 years ago. Now showing it's age. Nana, both street and plaza, is the place to go these days.
Patpong night market is probably the most expensive in Bangkok. You can find the same stuff at Chatuchak weekend market for much cheaper

Patpong is worth a visit. However it's more of a historical relic in Bangkok as a red light district. Nana and Cowboy are a more modern choice.

For the legit Thai footballs shirt they stock them in sports stores at the larger/upmarket shopping malls. Try Central World in Bangkok or Central Festival in Pattaya for example. Thanks for watching as always Kayos501 :)

Over a dozen trips but I never had a desire to go down to Patpong. Walked around Soi cowboy once at twilight and was not impressed. Pattaya is more fun and easier to walk around.Better air being on the gulf of Thaland and usually a decent little sea breeze

Best thing to do when to hot and sweaty in Thailand, find a Seven Eleven. That air condition must be one of the closest thing of the feeling from entering heaven :)

I first visited Bangkok in 1986, stayed at the river Orchid Sheraton... went with the (at the time) future wife, innocent girl... took her to Patpong 1 and Cowboy (ex military so it's a calling card).... she was NOT amused... funnily enough I was... snuck out a few nights to the BJ bars.... epic..................... BTW Patpong looks almost the same to me now.. too much Cabernet

Actually they don’t seem to in any particular hurry at all as they cut through the night market to get to wherever they may be headed. And they certainly are not in any way uncomfortable or apprehensive about their surroundings. It’s basically just an ordinary young couple enjoying a night out on the town.
