Appearance without substance. Everything is a hallucination. So this moment right now is a hallucination. It's always been a hallucination. That's what reality is. In psychology hallucination means perception without any input or data. So traditionally if you go to a mental hospital and you're telling them that you're seeing monkeys running around with stripes and polka dots, they'll say you're hallucinating.

They don't like the idea that you can't be anything you want to be, no matter how hard you work, if you don't have the talent for it. And they don't like the idea that some people are born better than others. But it's all true--talent is a thing. Just like innate personality traits are a thing. @@angryroy6277 Haha, let me rephrase, since the impression I left you seems to be the opposite of my intention.
My point is that the listeners featured in this video value cultural relevance and familiarity over technique. I think this is the case with most people. It was not written to slight them.
On technical skills, Rob's playing is anything but basic. Whether pop or classical, he plays with masterful musicality and "effortlessly" injects his own flair. People can play anything and make it sound dead or alive. Rob never delivers a stillborn and that's what people appreciated, to go back to my original comment.
In case I misread your message: Maybe a couple of the listeners began with some apathy, thinking, "Great... another boring classical player," but Landes blew that smugness straight out of the water every time and they ended up enjoying his gift to them.

No matter race, creed, location music is a beautiful universal language everyone can love. The biggest disappointment is how schools across the US are dropping music departments hindering future people from being able to express this kind of beauty. We can not allow music to turn into another unspoken language.
